Get Keywords For Your Niche That Has Low Search Keywords

Hey there,

I just saw this question being asked in the Q&A area and thought it was an interesting topic to right about. It's hard when what you're really interested in doesn't get a lot of searches...or maybe the real problem is that you're not thinking broad enough.

I've also ran into this with one of my sites so its not something that I haven't experienced myself. The best tip that I can give you is to think outside the box.

Here are some of my best tips for finding keywords for your niche if almost everything is next to no traffic:

  1. Having a whole niche with low traffic isn't necessarily a bad thing. Actually, it can work to your advantage especially if finding quality information is hard.
  2. Think of other topics that effect your niche. For instance, if you are writing about hermit crabs you might want to look up tank warmers, how to keep your tank warm, types of substrate, reviews on equipment used to care for hermit crabs, etc. I know one problem I have is finding quality food for my girl despite every source out there saying they eat 'just about anything'.

The point is that there are many things that interact with or around your niche that you can write about. Make a list of 20+ things and do keyword research around them.

Again, low traffic might be to your advantage if good quality info is hard to find.
  3. Stop feeling sorry for yourself if you are. I know this might be harsh but wallowing in self pity pretty much blinds you from the actual solution even if it's right in front of you. A lot of times, you realize that the solution isn't as elusive as you thought it was.

Instead of moping about it being hard, do the complete opposite. Get hyper-focused about finding some good keywords.
  4. Look on Amazon for ideas. Since Amazon has products in just about any area, there might be something in particular you may have overlooked that people want to know about.
  5. Don't get caught up on the low keyword search volume and focus on quality. Even if your site is about one thing, it will get ranked under other keywords as well. You might also find that people are visiting your site searching from other niches.

For example, on my vlog, we did a series about my husband's skin condition. It was low search but people with other similar skin conditions also started reaching out to us for advice.or some people were just curious about it altogether.

So you can see that even though your niche has low traffic, you still have options. I know personally for one of my sites it was like this and I got the most sales because I provided readers with quality information.

Always remember that the quality of your content is the most important factor. To a larger degree, no one controls how Google ranks anyways so you might not even get ranked for keywords you put all this time into researching.

Hope this helps :)

Yup, quality is important :) Thanks for reading

Hi Marlinda
OK that sounds like good news.
At present I only have 2 posts on board, but by this time tomorrow I will have four posts...BUT
I have yet to do the Menus, Also I still cannot get to open the million image photos. I was told to go onto SiteRubix then content
and after that I got nowhere that said images or photos.???

Hi, JeanLouis, I hope you don't mind me chiming in here. When you go to SiteRubix, then to Site Content. Choose if you want to use a template or create a new post. Next, click on the little icon that says "images", then you type in what kind of image your looking for. My niche is RV travel, so I type in motorhomes or camping or something like that. This brings up all the available images. You simply choose a picture you want to insert into your post.

I hope this helps.

That's awesome! Make sure to get at least your main menu up. If you don't know how, here's a quick training you can take a look at: Go to siteRubix > Create New Post > You'll see a colored, image icon, click it

Then you can search for your niche, related topics, etc.

Hope this helps :)

Nice explanation, thanks for getting it for me :)

Thanks, Marlinda, that's really good advice...especially the part about thinking outside of the box. This is really something that we all should be doing even if we are in a niche that's high in search volume.

I'm writing this part down so that I can remember to implement it often.
1. Thinking of other topics that effects my niche and writing valuable content around those topics. That's golden.

2. Remembering that to be involved in a niche that has low search volume is not all bad. Especially when it's hard to find great content on the topic. You and I can be the one that provides that content. As I always say.... There is plenty to go around. No matter what niche your are in.

Thanks again.

Stay focused and be blessed.

Glad you found some gems from this info. Keep up the good work and be blessed too :)

Hi Marlinda, I've stumbled on this challenge a couple of times lately when choosing a keyword for a guest post that's been submitted to me for publication. Great advice, thanks.

You're welcome. :)

Hi Marlida 1
Just read your post and found it very interesting.
I will be trying some of your ideas as soon as I have one website really ready.
How many posts would you call "ready"?

Hey JeanLouis,

I'm glad you found this info helpful. As soon as you make your first post your site is 'ready' imo. Assuming you have your basic menus in place as well.

Building a site is a learning process and ranking takes time. So don't wait to be 'perfect' just get your content out there and the majority of people don't care if it is 'perfect' as long as it's good quality content.

Hope this helps :)
