Will Money Always Be a Problem in the World?

Money only has value because there is an imbalance of wealth.

It's not possible for everyone to be wealthy. If everyone had lots of money, it would have no value. Money only has value if there are lots of people who don't have enough of it who are desperately trying to get more of it.

But if everyone was very poor, that would also make things fall apart because nobody would have enough money to buy anything, so businesses would collapse.

For example, let's consider a car manufacturer who gets rid of lots of human factory workers and replaces them with robots to increase efficiency and therefore profits. If they get rid of too may human workers, that puts too many people out of work. That means hardly anyone has enough money to buy a car, so the business collapses.

But the rate technology is progressing, it's really not going to be long before there are hardly any jobs for humans. Even with online shopping, you might think there will be plenty of jobs for warehouse staff and delivery drivers, but is this really true? How long before warehouse robots and driverless cars fill most of those jobs?

And even with websites, how long before artificial intelligence is advanced enough so that websites can create themselves?

But if every job gets replaced by technology, including the people to design the technology (because eventually there will be technology that's better at inventing technology than humans are), so nobody has any jobs, how would people earn money?

If nobody can earn any money, the whole thing would collapse, right?

WOAH, let's take a step back a minute and talk about now and the short term future.

The problem we have right now is not low paid 9-5 jobs. 9-5 jobs are NOT the problem. Like I said, we need people in the world who don't quite earn enough so they are desperate to earn more.

Also, until technology replaces all human jobs, we need people in these 9-5 jobs. We need warehouse workers and delivery drivers to get the things we buy online to us and our customers.

We need people to empty our rubbish bins each week. We need someone to clean the street, repair the roads, and walk round in uniforms looking self-important while trying to stop the lunatics from hurting us. And if the lunatics do hurt us, we need specially trained people to put us back together.

So it's not possible at the moment for everyone (or even most people) to escape the 9-5 drudgery.

And once it gets to the point where nobody needs to work because the machines do everything, maybe nobody will have the money to buy the things we promote on our websites anyway.

What do you think?

Hey,Hey, Marcus no politics here, you sound like a leader of socialist movements now.
Socialist proponents always maintain that, Rich guys like Kyle & Carson can organize LAS VEGAS 2018 WA EVENT, but if workers there are on strike on the day of event, there will be no LAS VEGAS 2018. If they change the venue, workers will contact their counterparts to do the same. CHEERS

Well, it's not politics in the sense that I'm not discussing political parties or anything like that. I think that's the main thing to be avoided here, so we don't get into bitter fights about people like Donald Trump and Hilary Clinton. I'm just discussing the concept of money and work, which is kind of relevant to us here don't you think?

Regarding your Las Vegas comment, we need to look at the bigger picture to relate it to what I was talking about. So, maybe in the future Las Vegas will mainly be staffed by artificially intelligent robots. But that would also be true of other places similar to Las Vegas. This means the WA conference could still go ahead, but it brings up the issue that if most human workers have been replaced by machines then who will be able to afford to buy the things we sell on our websites?

Money will always be a problem and solution, depending on your perspective.

It's impossible for everyone to escape the 9-5 in the current money system.

But the current system needs to be challenged, so that human race progresses to a less deplorable state. Until, hopefully we find a better alternative.

It will be interesting to see how things go. I keep hearing that the current money system is on the edge of collapsing. This is because money doesn't actually have any intrinsic value, and also because the banks lend far more money than they actually have.

I think the global ecological collapse will happen first. Humans won't change business as usual unless a serious catastrophe happens before their eyes.
That is because the economy needs to grow at a crazy speed to sustain an ever-growing and ever demanding population.

You could be right.

Imagine if money suddenly stopped having any value. Suddenly there would be all these formerly rich people without any wealth. They wouldn't even be able to pay their assistants because the money they would pay them would be worthless.

then they invent something else we are always evolving technical and spiritual. 25 years no one would have thought that we going to have the smartphone?

Yes, things evolve differently ot how we expect.

No money = less wanting & less conflict.

I believe materialism has overtaken humanity to the extent that it dominates our ability to dream of anything else.
It is indeed a terrifying concept to most people to have no money especially those forgotten at the bottom. But its also a opportunity to many who are waking up from the big sleep of survival of the fittest mentality and striving to find new ways of eliminating poverty & building a sustainable future as humanley as possible.

As long as we have an unhealthy lust for money, we'll be trapped in an endless consumer loop. It would be commercial suicide for the rich & powerful to replace thier source of wealth with robots. Its going to happen but the positive side effect could mean a major shift in trade & possibly a new currency..

If the empire did ever crumble , it would be a glorious day but some guy would still find a way to take what the other guy has and on and on it goes...

Great post !

I'm not entirely convinced that no money = less wanting and less conflict. I wonder whether it's human nature for us to group together and be tribal and fight with each other.

And if there was no money, what incentive would there be for peopel to do things? It's nice to think of a world where we all work together for the greater good, but unfortunately I don't think everyone is like that. Even if a lot of people are like that, I fear there will always be people trying to screw others over in some way.

When I said no money = less want = less conflict , I mean the absence of a monetary system could solve many problems, but that said were addicts suckling at the teet of the green cow.
Let me put it in bumper sticker form. Money is a vehicle, some people are just really wreckless drivers..

The rich and the banks made it easy for people who have a lack of money. They invented the CREDIT CARD! Hooray! We can buy the things now, the cars, the holidays, all the stuff we think we need. And the rich are satisfied because now those "poor" bastards have to work lousy jobs, in the rich man's factory, for lousy wages, their whole life long, to pay off their debts!

But jobs were even worse in the past, long before credit cards existed. https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Workhouse

The jobs were not worse, the conditions were worse

Aren't the working conditions part of what makes a job good or not?

The conditions back then for the same jobs were worse, because you had to work longer shifts, you didn't get paid properly, you had no laws of protection for heavy labor, there were no unemployment benefits, you didn't get paid when you were ill, you didn't have safety clothes and shoe etc.etc.

The jobs are still lousy

My thinking is that there is a golden age of opportunity right now .. lets take advantage of it. Cheers, William.

Good thinking, William!

Then we'll reach a point where we can't afford to buy the machines. Then we'll have to do things the old-fashioned manual way. WORK is a four-letter word.

I have an image in my head of you washing your clothes in a stream.
