SEO Tip: The Importance of a Strong Gplus Following
Hi Folks,
I wanted to share something quickly with you and that is how important being inside of Google+ and how it can affect your sites' SERP.
On August 11, 2016 I did the following:
- Posted an article on my site
- Fetched as Google inside GWT
- Shared the article inside of Google+ to a specific circle of people that I have.
Two days later, when I searched for a related keyword from the article, this showed up.
See the author image beside the listing?
That is the result of sharing inside of Google+. So, when the following occurs:
- Anyone in my Google+ circle that I’ve shared that post
- Searched for that keyword (do backlinks work)
My Google+ post will show up in THEIR Search Result.
By doing this, it gives me an additional edge upon my competitors because I am essentially customizing my readers search results.
And that my WA friends.. is pretty awesome.
* SERP = Search Engine Result Page
* GWT = Google Webmaster Tools

I agree with you, although I've also had G+ throw up posts in searches that I wouldn't have expected! It's almost like another search engine within Google.
Everything I post on my website gets an additional mention in Google+ and I have gotten more followers and sign-ups to my newsletter with every Google+ post.
It may not seem like a lot happens of G+ , but considering how easy it is to post a mention about your latest blog with a link, even 1 follower is worth the few seconds it takes.
And if you are using the right tools, you can have it happen automagically.
Thanks Jim,
I would like to mention that sometimes it's good to put away the automation and actually bootstrap the process of writing posts inside of Google+
I've been doing that quite a bit with my posts on my first website and like you said, when searching for related keywords, something like that has come up for me in the search results in Google. I love it! Thanks for posting this and it reminds me that I'm doing the right thing.
I never could find people in Google+ in my niche to join my group so I quit trying to use it. Perhaps I need to rethink that - thank you for the tip
I agree G+ have by far been the hardest for me to get followers, at one point I was to delete it and my son told me to stick it out. At that time, I had 30+ followers now 3 months later I have 100 so, it's a bit better I suppose. Hang in there. ~Sherry

SORRY Jay, I find it difficult to understand what you are saying.
YOU SAID:
On August 11, 2016 I did the following:
1. Posted an article on my site
2. Fetched as Google inside GWT
3. Shared the article inside of Google+ to a specific circle of people that I have.
I have no idea what #2 means, much less How-To-Do-It --- Also,
How is #3 done?
THEN YOU SAID:
So, when the following occurs:
1. Anyone in my Google+ circle that I’ve shared that post
2. Searched for that keyword (do backlinks work)
My Google+ post will show up in THEIR Search Result.
Is that to be translated to mean:
"When anyone within your Google+ Circle to which you have shared that post, searches for the keyword, your Google+ Post will show in THEIR Search Results?"
You did not explain How or Why your image appears in the Results.
Wally,
Since this was a SEO tip which is considered a small piece of information I did not divulge into the macro specifics of every nuance of what I did.
Since there is plenty of training here in WA that can teach you these, allow me to steer you in the right direction:
