Biggest Influencer Job To Date - R12 000: Bring It On!

Last Update: October 20, 2018

Being a part of Wealthy Affiliate is an incredible experience - the things that I have learned here have made such an impact on me.

One of the main ways that I earn money from my business is through being an online influencer. Many members here at WA have asked me what does it mean to be an online influencer and how do you become one?

Just to clarify - as affiliate marketers we are all online influencers. We use our websites to influence our readers to buy the products that we promote on our websites. I do affiliate marketing too on my websites by the way.

The difference with online influencer jobs is that the company pays me directly to review their products or to mention their products on my website and on my social media channels. They give me the product that they want me to review and I get paid too which is awesome.

So today it has been confirmed that I have just landed my biggest online influencer job - I am going to be paid R12 0000 (approximately $840) in total to write a few posts and share them on my social media channels.

While Wealthy Affiliate does not directly teach you how to land online influencer jobs, you will learn how to market your website and how to build your authority as a blogger - there is absolutely nothing stopping you from marketing yourself as an online influencer as well as an affiliate marketer!

I started by simply writing about some of the local companies and products that I like and over time I had companies contact me directly and ask me how it works to advertise their products.

I now have a media kit and a rate card for different types of promotions I offer and I get regular enquiries from companies.

Hello Lynne!

Very interesting job description and means to earn some greens!
Is it ethical even to solicit advertisers if say they are members of your facebook group and ask them if they would want to advertise in your own website?

I have a facebook group on solar energy with 132k members and I have quite a few members who are selling products and services including ones from China etc.

Thanks!

I don't see any harm in offering your services! Just check the rules of the Facebook group!

I founded the FB group so that makes it easier I suppose to offer my services to my members. : )

The best I have gotten was $32 for a tweet that all I had to do was copy and paste 3 times in 5 days to my followers who at the time were just 13,000 on Twitter. I now have over 15,000 followers and that's just my Twitter. The money is out there for the dedicated and it will find you if you are good at doing what you love.

How wonderful Lynne! May I ask you how you came up with a nitch based on doing reviews of items you like that you own in your home? Another words did you have specif categories on your site when you started or did you just do random reviews then start to organize them as time went on?

I love the review aspect and I'm thinking of moving in that direction myself.

Also when you were approached by other companies to do reviews for them, how did you come up with a commission structure for yourself?

Thanks and congrats on ALL your hard work and sharing this with us here!

Hi Jessica

Actually my website started off as an online baby store and I started blogging to get traffic to my store - then I found WA and learned I didn't need my own products so I closed my store and made it a blog. My niche is really broad - family, parenting, health, travel - if it fits a family or anything I am interested in then it goes :)

When I first started off writing reviews and promotional posts for companies I kept my prices really low, I wanted the work and the experience more than the money. Now that I have established myself as an influencer I charge a lot more :)

Thanks Lynne, it’s interesting how so many people here head in one direction then as their knowledge expands, their ideas and their websites, niches etc evolve into something new. Love your story!

Thanks for the follow up!

Congrats. That is awesome.
I actually signed up to product reviews a few years ago but was never contacted to do physical reviews. I had a ton of surveys show up in my email though. No thank you : )

Sounds like a great job and you are good at it.
I hope your success grows large and steady.

Wishing you the best in all you do

Lee Ann you don't need to sign up anywhere! Start doing reviews on things in your home that you love and tag the companies when you post your reviews. On Instagram mention products you use in a casual sort of way and tag tag tag... eventually you will find companies contacting you directly to get themselves mentioned on your blog. It's also a great way to get your name out there - most companies will share your reviews since it is free promotion for them so this will help you grow.

Thank you Lynne. That is awesome.
Maybe that will be my next site.

May I send a few questions your way?
No need for quick response. Just when you have time to answer them.

Thank you for sharing this. I am really interested in this.
Wishing you the best in all you do

I've heard of this before. A friend of mine likes to read a lot. She started a blog talking about what she read. Amazon and several book company's offered her a job doing what she loved to do anyway. That is awesome. Goes to show you that sometimes we have talents that we take for granted, when we can be utilizing them. Joe

That's using your noggin as my Father used to say. Promoting ourselves is just as important as the products we review and promote. We all have something inside us that we can market. Our life experiences, work experiences, information, wisdom, etc.
If you are a great cook, you don't think twice about it. But to someone who can't cook, YOU ARE AN EXPERT, and that person would probably pay you for that information.

Noggin? Sounds like my dad too LOL. What I love about WA and working online is you are really only limited by your own creativity... if you can think up a way to make money with your website give it a go! It can't hurt :)
