Severe Weather In Georgia

The weather in some parts of Georgia has been bad for the last 3 days. There have been heavy rains, Tornados, quarter size hail and a lot of tension.

When I came to live in this community I could not help noticing the huge trees hanging over the houses. I thought about how dangerous they are. I saw on the news how trees uprooted and fell on houses and the occupants were killed.

There was a tree on the property when I came to live here. It was big and overgrown and dying, so I had it removed. A neighbor came over to tell me that the tree was there before I came so I had no right to take it out. While he spoke to me I noticed that there were no trees hanging over his house.

During Hurricane Matthew, a tree from another neighbor's property uprooted and fell. It damaged his house badly and took out a part of the fence between us. Luckily my granddaughter's car that was usually parked there was moved away for safety. My neighbor's vehicles were badly damaged.

There is still a huge tree in that same yard that is bigger than the one that fell, waiting on the next storm. It is a disaster waiting to happen.

All these trees are overgrown and need professionals to trim them or take them out.

Every time we have thunderstorms or tornados individuals are killed by trees falling on their houses. These trees are too big for anyone to be comfortable living under them. When will we ever learn?

Stay safe Luna.

We take down suspicious treess on our property Luna. Pines are the worst offenders!

I am your southern neighbor living in Jacksonville Fl and I see this happen all the time. I agree we should have someone who will inspect the trees to reduce this damage from happening.

Yes! Is as if the trees are sacred. No one trims them or cut them down when they are old. So many people are dying from uprooted trees.

I live in Augusta and we had really bad rain but luckily no damages.
We have to remain thoughtful for those who are falling on tough times.

That's true, a lot of people suffered and some died.

Heard about tornado's hitting Alabama, Mississippi en Tennessee on the news, so Georgia is also in the midst of the turmoil. Take care Luna

Thanks, Loes!

Hi Luna. I feel for you. They are hazards when so big. Keep pushing for them to be cut back to a less threatening size. All the best and keep safe.

Thanks

Definitely need to trim trees as they get older. Over time they the root system and trunk will deteriorate. Years ago, the county arborist went through our old neighborhood to assess tree health. The trees that failed muster were cut down. We ended up with firewood from 3 of our trees.

That's definitely what they should do here. Everybody waits until its too late.

Stay safe.

Thanks! I try
