Wordpress just came out with its 4.4 update. Is it important to get this update immediately?
Hate to be the oddball out, but I strongly believe in keeping your WP site updated as soon as any update comes out.. I actually have my sites set up to just update automatically any time there's one available. There's several reasons why I feel this way:
1. As someone else stated, for security/bug fixes, etc. WP now takes up a quarter of the web (25%!) so naturally it's under attack by thieves and hackers... anything getting that much attention on the web and with that many users is highly vulnerable to cyber attacks... Luckily, WP is top notch with regard to staying on top of security issues - hence (in my opinion) their relatively large number of updates...
2. The longer you wait to update, the older your version of WP will become and the less compatible that version will potentially be with new plugins/themes in the future
3. Updating a WP version from (for example) two years ago to a current update has a lot more risk for things going wrong with theme/plugin compatibility and overall site performance than upgrading regularly might pose.
4. WP is changing and growing FAST. When I started out using it, the dashboard was so completely different... There was a lot more actual coding involved, the 'drag and drop' builders just didn't exist like they do today, and it was simply not nearly as user friendly... and that was just 5 years ago. That said, I think it's very important to stay up to date with the latest trends (and updates) offered by the core developers.
5. As for issues with new updates, when there are any, it's fixed almost immediately due to the vast WP community and the amazing developers behind its core framework - and said 'issues or problems' (in my experience) rarely happen with new updates... They do tons of beta testing and debugging before ever releasing a new version to the public in an effort to ensure the likelihood of hiccups in the framework happening to a minimum or zero.
6. I will say one thing though - if you're not working with 'child themes' I HIGHLY recommend learning how to do so.. I think there are even plugins now that build child themes for you! lol. Crazy to think of for me! :) The concept can be confusing at first, but a bit of reading and studying and you'll understand it in no time.
If you're not using child themes but you do any customization to the main files in the editor (like CSS, php, etc.), you're putting yourself at a big risk of your site having problems and even possibly breaking.... (whenever there's an update to WP, themes OR plugins... but that's what child themes are for.. it's just so important. Here's a good article about them if you're interested:

I upgraded 1 client just because she wants updates fast. I don't think she even knows what upgrades are. She listens to strange people. But for the other WP sites, I will let WP do it.
No, it isn't unless it is an update that contains a fix for big security vulnerability in Wordpress. I don't think 4.4 has it.

Any tips on how to install a logo at the top of your website?
Do you mean the icon beside your domain name? It's called site icon by some themes, actually it is favicon, you can find the area under Appearance-->theme-->cusomtize-->site icon. If you did not see it in your theme, then you have to edit your own logo to 16 x16 px, save as .favicon then upload it to your website by FTP.
Welcome! If you were asking about header of your logo on your theme, it is also can be uploaded inside your wp admin dashboard. It is under Appearance--Header, usually the header size is different according to the theme you chose.
If you could not find Header under Appearance. Open your website in a new window, right click on the original header of the theme
-->Inspect-->you will see the link of the header image, write down the name of the image-->change your own logo with that name--->upload to the same location of your site by FTP.

I found a keyword that I want to use but I will need to put a " : " in it. Will this break up the keyword or does google only register words and not symbols?</
The search engines read words not punctuation. Write it the way it makes sense to your readers.
I think it would be added to the keyword and change the keyword itself, you might want to omit it in the keyword or do research with the keyword tool using the :
