Do Successful People Still Have Downs In Their Online Business?
Hello WA Warriors!!
I have found myself in a moment here to reflect on what a journey this has been for me and how much I treasure this WA community.
Where I am in my journey today, I feel like I can do so much more but at the same time feel stuck in a lull.
The way this online business "really" works is ever a mystery to me with Google playing with their algorithm when they feel like it and not knowing fast enough what's the latest and greatest.
Even though I have found some success, I still go back to these moments of real desperation of not knowing which direction to turn or if what I'm trying to do is the right thing.
The numbers are telling me it's not, but if SEO is supposed to work the way I have been using it then these numbers should turn around in due time.
This wait... The wait that we all know... the dreaded waiting game of getting ranked.
I'm right back at when I was in month 8, 9, or even 10, wondering if all this work is going to pay off.
Doubting I'll rank for those keywords. Wondering WHY I'm STILL not rankng well for those keywords!
These feelings are very real and no one will understand them like this WA community does as it knows exactly what I'm talking about and that is why this group of people in here is so precious to all of us going through this journey.
This is a battle that I know I will have with myself throughout my entire online journey no matter what level I will hit.
Like right now, I know I will get pass this lull I'm experiencing.
I know I will make 5 figures/month next year.... on a consistent basis.
I know I will contintue to work hard to get to my next goals.
Yet.
I have so much doubt in my mind because my numbers aren't telling me the same.
I've been looking at different shiny objects. *gasp*
I've been not focused.
How Do I Get Out Of This?
1. Blog about it on WA so I have the support of my friends who will tell me "You Can Do This!"
2. Wake up tomorrow morning and demand change, as I'll be charged up from all the "You Can Do This!" comments below.
3. I work like crazy until I see my numbers turn around.
So, here I am again at a point in my journey where I need to get tougher when the going gets tough.
I hate that I have to eat my own words now. Lol
But, I know I have to do it.
So I will.
Refocused.
You noticed #3 above, there is no time limit. I will have to commit a 100% and more to what I need to do to change my numbers around.
It could take 2 months, it could take 2 years.
All I know is that my online businss needs me, and I need to stay focused. It's so easy to lose focus when things aren't going right guys.
Don't let that distract you on what's important and that is keep on writing, using awesome keywords, and making them high quality.

Without the downs, we have no ups. I hope I go even lower so I can come out of this even HIGHER! :)

I recall you saying that you were going to take your site in a slightly different direction as opposed to scam reviews. Could this affect how Google ranks your site?
Hi Nigel, thank you!! You said it! You're the first one to say that to me, I appreciate that. :)
Yes that is exactly why my traffic and all the numbers have gone down because of this change. It's understandable, expected, and Google needs to relearn my site and I need to feed it more of the content I want to rank for.
It'll be interesting to see how long this takes.

Never really too sure will Google, it would be great if they could advise you why your rankings drop.
It would also be interesting to know if you were to start writing every 2nd or 3rd days, whether this would also have an impact. Or writing a long tower post per week instead.

Oh I write enough. I'm publishing 5 times a week. I used to do 7 a week or more. So this is part of the slow down in my traffic and I have changed direction in my content so that's why the traffic has dropped. I know why it dropped but for how long is what I'm wondering and what I should do about it.
I have a plan now and will rock it in 2019!

I know you’re writing enough Grace. I was getting at slowing down. Writing every 2-3 days or twice per week. I was wondering if Google would say ‘hey, you’re not posting as often as you were. I’ll penalise you for that ‘!

In a similar slump at the moment. Needing to refocus and remember that it might take a little while and it might take more time. But, as long as I keep working on it, it's going to happen :)

Exactly Kelly, that's what we need to tell each other. It's the waiting game that gets people antsy but it's actually a period that we need to focus the most so that is where I will be turning this around.

I love this, we have to have failures such as this in order to succeed, so we can pile them up and stomp the ship out of them.
We can to it as a team, get up and work it own it work it but not so hard you break it...

Hello Grace, thank you for another excellent blog post. I think we all have moments of doubt, it's very easy for our minds to wander and not focus on the goal. We need to check ourselves on a regular basis and keep moving forward in the right direction. It's very easy to look at the present circumstances and not the long-term goal.
It's hard when we have been writing blog posts for months and we don't see any return on our efforts, but we have to understand that an online business is also a long-term business and it takes time! I think you have proved this in your very own experience Grace?

Hi Roy, This is why it's weird to me to be feeling this way. I know I've done it already so I know it works but while I'm in this waiting period, I have those same doubts come shooting into my mind. That's the thing about our minds, when some things aren't going the direction we want, we react to what we can see but not what we can't.
I know these feelings are all an illusion and I just need to wash it away so I can focus where I need to be.

Hello Grace,
I think it's very important to have the right people around us, I used to work with someone who was seriously negative, so much so that he would say at the end of the day; "another day closer to the grave" and I would say "another day closer to heaven"! He actually very rarely had anything positive to say, we are better off to get these people out of lives as it can be very destroying.
I'm not saying you have negative people around you, I'm just using this as an example. We also have to be very careful what we fill our minds with, I haven't had a television for years, admittedly we have the Internet, where we can kind of watch what we want, although I'm very selective in what I watch, I do not want to fill my mind was anything negative and yet we have to be in the real world of course!
I think the best thing is to focus on the good things in life. As a countryman, I will often walk across the fields and admire the beauty all around me, so simple and so good and it works!

Hi Roy, thanks for your message, definitely negativity doesn't help and yes I do intentionally avoid negative people and news.
I do a lot of listening to success mentors which gave me a huge push.
Since this post, I have come to a plan of action and know I will have a very big 2019. I am glad I went through this dark period but it's passed and I'm ready for the work ahead.

That's great news Grace, I believe that sometimes taking a step back and recharging our batteries can be very beneficial. I also believe that you have worked very hard this year and you have made it to Las Vegas which I believe was one of your main goals and also a fantastic achievement!

Yeah no kidding, sanity in an insane life. Lol Of course you count. You're new so you have even more doubt. I just find it funny I still have moments like this when I've achieved so much.
I know I have to get through this short moment and I will be back on my horse for round 2.
It's called energy renewal. I think sometimes we need to step back a little and just take it all in. The pause that refreshes. I believe it is a natural blip.

It's only going to help you. Do nothing or giving up won't change anything. Keep working and an opportunity will always present itself, Sometimes when you least expect it. Keep going it'll be worth it.
Thanks so much, yes I can't do nothing. Sometimes I actually feel that way because I am pulled in different directions and then I just do nothing which is not productive at all. I know I have to keep going. :)
Hi Grace- robots don't and as humans, we all go through those moments of doubt. fear and other negatives and it's so normal to experience and the best thing to do is - take a small and fun break and walk away from it all for say 24 hours and do something you love to do and when you are out doing whatever it is do not think about your business.
Deep breath and believe and walk back into your office refreshed.
I went fishing last evening - no fish but the serenity, the ocean sounds and a chat with a few people - it was so refreshing and when I started working today, I felt renewed and ready to go again.
You are awesome- you know it, we know it so go take a breather :)

Hi Vicki,
This is something I don't do well in, taking time out and clearing my mind. It's something I am trying to inject into my life bit by bit. I now take my little Yorkie out for walks at night so I can get out of the house and breathe some fresh air.
I think I gotta do more of that into my day to give me breaks and not grind so straight through.

I always love your honesty and your downs are the next path to going more forward. Rants are fab they keep us grounded/ You are one in a million and your next level is going at you head on.
You did it you got there you have lulls we all will the next step is 10k a month hun. Wait till you come back from Vegas and move even more forward :)) Eddy with a Y blogged this a year or so back I always remember it. In fact I never forgot it.
