Event Presentation: the Power of Quotations
Hi everyone,
I now understand how powerful quotations can be in inspiring audience members. Two quotations I chose in my introductory presentation for an Event I ran yesterday received a fantastic response. They also eloquently conveyed the essence of my Event series: the power and uniqueness of our individual creativity, which can become the driving force for stepping into the limelight of the Internet with a successful business. And, of course, the alternative futures that are opening up to everyone.
“Be the change that you wish to see in the world.”
- Mahatma Gandhi
“I stand here on the summit of the mountain. I lift my head and I spread my arms.
This, my body and spirit, this is the end of my quest.
I wished to know the meaning of all things. I am the meaning.
I wished to find a warrant for being. I need no warrant for being, and no word of sanction upon my being.
I am the warrant and the sanction.
Neither am I the means to any end others may wish to accomplish.
I am not a tool for their use.
I am not a servant of their needs.
I am not a sacrifice on their altars.”
– Ayn Rand, Anthem
It's a mysterious phenomenon, but it works so well.
Powerful and appropriate quotations concentrate the energy, the magic of their words providing an anchor, a pause, a timelessness where we can rest.
It also shows that there is nothing new under the sun! It's all been done before! In fact, it's as if quotations connect all human members together for a moment without a scrap of discrimination or prejudice!
Ah! The power of the abstract symbols of words!!

How nice to see that there are still such wonderful people in this world who cherish what brings us together: faith in humanity.

Hi Linda
A great quotation, especially one that is little-known, is a great way to stand out.
