What Does It Mean to Age with Grace

To age with grace means embracing the process of aging as a part of our lifespan.. While it's hard to be positive all the time we can develop practices that support our being when things get tough The changes that come with age can be more easily accepted when we recognize that we come from a larger source and will return there. Taking time to close our eyes and develop a connection to our inner source is an important first step. Taking responsibility for our diet and lifestyle can lead to improved health and energy, and can give us a sense of empowerment as we grow older. We don't have total control, but we have choices.

cultivating gratitude

Being thankful is not about ignoring the complexities of life or dismissing negative emotions, Rather, it is about enhancing your capacity to appreciate the good while navigating the inevitable challenges that life brings. Deliberately focusing on what's going well and the good things in your life can greatly enhance your mental health. Focusing on gratitude daily in writing or speaking can create meaning and fulfillment, even when things aren't perfect.

resilience

We've all been knocked down. My grandmother used to say "Life is for the strong." Look to people who have overcome tremendous obstacles to be inspired. They are everywhere. Make a decision, if you can. to be one of those people Inner strength is built with a one-day-at-a-time approach when you are overwhelmed.

attitude

You can't just be positive...it's a choice and a willingness to let go of what holds you back from feeling good. Develop an awareness of when you are seeing the glass half empty. There is a saying from The Course In Miracles: I could see peace instead of this! It is of course a day-by-day design and build. How do I want to live the rest of my precious life?

courage

We all know the saying: feel the fear and do it anyway. When I decided to come aboard at www.wealthyaffiliate.com, I feared being ridiculed by naysayers, so I kept it private for a while. It felt like the right choice for me to create mental focus and income.

Sometimes I feel afraid when I can't help my children solve their problems. I try to teach them courage, the courage to keep going, and keep trying to make things better. I also tell myself to trust in the universe, because once we know we have given 100 percent, we have to let go of expectations and allow things to take their natural course.

education

Over the coming decades, statistics reflect a trend towards increasing life expectancies. If our planet survives we will have unprecedented opportunities for personal and economic growth in our later years. Here at Wealthy Affiliate, there is support for learning step-by-step how to earn. A large online community of well-wishers and people offering help has made me excited to learn and earn all I can.

Linda,

You have created a thought-provoking post. If you are not going to give your best effort, what is the point of wasting your time doing it in the first place?

When you continue to do your best, your best will get even better.

Thank you for the motivation on a Sunday night in the BWI.

Happy Mother's Day!

Absolutely Awesome!!!!!!

thanks so much...hope to write more now that I figured out how to change my niche!

Grace is a wonderful word, and 'with grace' is a wonderful way to live. I'm working on it.

Thank you for your provocative message, Linda.

Dave

I guess you could sub acceptance...but not too much!! Because we do want to make changes when we can...Thanks for your reply!

You're welcome, Linda. Acceptance is good, as you say. I have personally made many changes through the years that have led to the serenity I have now.

I am not sure I am able to do anything gracefully....lol.
Very nice post btw.
Thanks and Have a Great Day!

Grace is not necessarily the be-all and end-all....sometimes we have to kick and scream! or laugh until we cry...It's what makes us human... my mother used to say that she did not want to be at peace...to her, it meant you are dead...how about aging with oomph or muster!!

Hi Linda, I'm a senior citizen who shares much the same philosophies as the message in your post alludes to.

I like to think I am aging gracefully.

I've overcome more than I will get into here.

I do my best to always live by my simple motto and MO: Honesty, respect, and best effort.

On the other hand, I've learned the hard way that failing does not mean I'm a failure. It means I need to step back, reassess, and move forward in a different way.

Thanks for the positive message.

Bob

Hi Bob...I like your MO ...honesty, respect, and best effort ...great to live by! You are so right about failure.... it is such an important teacher. I know that anyone living to an advance age has lived through a lot! Thanks so much for your thoughtful response.

Excellent advice, Linda! ๐Ÿ‘๐Ÿ‘๐Ÿ˜Ž

Not at all , Linda. Very nicely done! ๐Ÿ‘

Love your take on this, Linda! In my earlier days here, I was concerned with the naysayers, as well. Thanks for sharing!

thanks back Joe! Yes, I am already over it...the naysayers!

As it should be! Awesome stuff!
