Compliance with EU directive
Do you have Adsense, or are you using PPC to promote your site?
Is there any chance that you might have visitors from the EU?
You are REQUIRED to be compliant with the EU directives.
Basically this means that you need to tell them that you use cookies AND allow them to decline the cookies if they wish.
Even if you are in the US!
I know what a crock of S***. But, it does need to be in place and this needs to happen before September 30th, 2015.
Marketing Land has done a post with links to the necessary compliance statute. http://marketingland.com/nearly-every-google-adsen...
There are a few cookie compliant plugins that don't work overly well. So, I'm still looking for a way to implement this. Sounds to me like this is going to be a debacle.
If any of you in the EU have a solution implemented, I'd love to hear about your solution.
Edit: After testing a few of these plugins: https://wordpress.org/plugins/eu-cookie-law/ seems to be an easy one to implement with good speed characteristics and configuration.

There's a plugin for that: https://wordpress.org/plugins/cookie-law-info/
I haven't tried it myself but I've seen it in action on a website. ~Marion
Hi Marion, is it possible to give us all at WA a quick lesson demo of how to in install and run / activate this plugin on our websites? I am trying to follow the plugin's instructions but seem to be at a loss as to how and where to customize it for my site...
Sorry I haven't used it (yet). I just saw it today on a website and looked up what plugins they're using.
This one is my choice to use. I like the implied consent setting, if people scroll it hides the message.
I added and activated the plugin as per Labman's blog above, but it is not quite sorted as it is. I will need to investigate more and learn about cookies and which cookies etc. So I have deactivated it for the time being until I am wiser... to be revisited at a later stage.
Personally I have nothing against this rule.
Understand it very well. But the question is important to have all thing right.
Just one more thing to slow down your site and an obtrusive item on the site to reduce good User Experience.
Disagree. I think we in Europe, I´m not in EU but in Europe, think more about personal right than US but may be I´m wrong. And as I look at it, this is part of let people have information they should know.
Just this is just my opinion.
Well only thing that comes to mind is in England you can use biscuits in stead of cookies and see if that helps, ok ok I know I am no help at all made you smile though.
Thanks for keeping us informed, my Friend. Any word on what will happen if we fail to comply?
I see nothing that provides for sanctions if not implemented. Since Google is sending missives I'm guessing that they are doing a bit of CYA.
Hi Labman, This is what i use.

Good to know. Thanks for the link, too.
You're welcome.
