Steps to Create a Profitable Business in the Golf Niche.
NOTE: This is going to take a few minutes to read, but it is going to be WELL WORTH IT! It is going to lead you to the creation of your OWN successful business online.
You are on this page because you are likely interested in creating a golf business within the "golf" niche. I myself am an avid golfer (been a member of a Jack Nicklaus designed 36 hole track for the last 8 years) in Bear Mountain, Victoria Canada. I also have been running my own online businesses within various niches for the 17 years full time.
For the past 14 years I have been helping others do the same, and today I want to spend some time explaining this "internet thing" to you and showing you the true opportunity that can be revealed within any niche, golf or otherwise through affiliate marketing.
Now before I get into the technicalities of this, I want to make ONE thing very clear. You do not need to have any experience these days, or technical knowledge for that matter, to create and establish a very successful business online. Sometimes you are much further ahead having limited knowledge in fact as you haven't been exposed to the myriad of misinformation out there.
The Breakdown of the Golf Opportunity
Golf is a multi-billion dollar niche, not just within the offline world, but online as well. People are spending BILLIONS online within the golf space and this ranges from clubs, golf attire, coaching programs, swing doctors, buying golf vacations, and purchasing tee times online.
As an affiliate marketer, you can promote many of the most famous brands and companies you are familiar with, those being the likes of Taylor Made, TeeTime.com, Callaway.com, GolfBalls.com, basically if you can buy a product within the offline world, there is almost with 100% certainty that YOU will be able to promote that same product online and earn a percentage commission in the process.
Here are a couple key examples that I want you to appreciate, and it will exhibit exactly how I am going to be teaching you to create a successful and lucrative business online within the golf niche.
Step 1: Johnny searches for "best golf balls for distance" in Google.
***You learn at Wealthy Affiliate how to find lucrative, low competition like this that you can rank for with relative ease in Google.
Step 2: Johnny visits an "affiliate" (YOU) website under this term, and learns about the "best golf balls for distance"
***You learn at Wealthy Affiliate how to build and rank a website under ANY search term. In this case, your website comes up under this term.
Step 3: Johnny clicks a link on the website and then goes on to buy 2 boxes of Titlest ProV1 balls costing approximately $100 through Amazon.
Step 4: The "affiliate" (YOU) gets paid a commission, ranging from 5%-75% depending on the product.
And that is how the process works. There are literally millions of products/services in the golf industry that you are going to be able to promote as an affiliate marketing, which in essence means you simply link people to products and when that person BUYS, you get a commission.
It is a beautiful business model. You don't need any inventory, you don't need to handle any transactions, shipping or support. You are simply LINKING people to something that they usually already want to buy.
The Different Directions You Could Head With You Golf Business
There are literally 100's of different ways you could create a business around the golf niche, but the process of deciding on YOUR direction might not seem so obvious. The "choosing your direction" aspect is something that you are going to be walked through in detail within Lesson 3 of the first training course, but I want to spend a few minutes here showing you potential ideas and aspects of the broader "golf" category, narrowing down your business.
Within the online world it is the specialists that earn all the money online, not the generalists. For that reason, you want to choose something more specific than "golf" if this is in fact the industry you want to build your business around.

This is just an example of some targeted niches that you could build a business around. There are currently 4 BILLION people online, actively searching for and buying things online. As an affiliate marketer you can get your "piece of the pie" of the trillions of dollars spent online every year.
Affiliate Programs / Revenue Opportunities
There are MILLIONS of products & services that you will be able to promote through various affiliate programs. Many of these you will be able to search for and find using the Affiliate Programs platform here at Wealthy Affiliate.

For example, with a company like TaylorMade you will be able to promote all their products and services, including hats, visors, golf balls, gloves, irons, putters, drivers, clothing, and golf bags. You will earn an 9% commission, and average order would quite easily be $500, with many being in the $1,000's. Your take as an affiliate on these would be $45 to potentially $100's in commissions from a single order.
Earning Potential Within the Golf Niche (as an affiliate marketer)
OK, so what does this amount to in terms of revenue potential. I want to give you a bit of perspective, and a breakdown as to what an affiliate marketing income can and WILL look like if work at it (and as we help you build out your business here at Wealthy Affiliate).
I personally like to break things down into a "daily" income. And since your Internet business will operate 24 hours per day, 7 days per week, your business will never sleep (it is going to be working for you 365 days of the year!).
I am going to base this on an average $30 commission, which is pretty typical in the golf niche. If you sell an order that costs $300 and commission is 10%, you earn $30. If you sell something that is $100 and pays 30% commission, you earn $30.
1 $30 commission per day = $10,950/year
2 $30 sales per day = $21,900/year
5 $30 sales per day = $54,750/year
10 $30 sales per day = $109,500/year
20 $30 sales per day = $219,000/year
And this is based on affiliate marketing alone, and based on $30 sales. There are many products/services in this niche that will pay several $100 per sale.

Regardless of what Kyle can answer you, I think many would agree that to become an expert you need:
1. Investigate a lot about a niche
2. Write a lot of content about it over time
3. Answer questions based on facts not on assumptions
4. Always stay updated on the innovations, changes, movements of your niche in general

This is only available in video form. If you read my profile, you will notice that I mention that I have the deafness and low vision disabilities. So, it is hard for me to understand it from the video alone, especially seeing that the videos here on WA don't have closed captioning. So, is this available in text form too as well?
I'm sorry for your challenges. My mom was a Professor of Social Work at NTID and a CODA. I grew up in a deaf household (My Grandmother was deaf and lived with us). Sadly, my mom passed away 2 years ago so I can't call her and ask how she would solve your problems.
Since Kyle doesn't close caption his videos, I guess the only way that you could get the content would be to set up a speech to text conversion of some kind. There are some demos of Watson doing this. Somehow you will need to capture the audio to upload to the converter.
I have used Dragon Naturally speaking to convert some audio files to text. The precision is horrible but it saves typing the content in most cases. I just needed to edit the content to use it in my own blog posts. These were my own videos so I was able to extract the audio from the video for conversion.
This sounds to me like a perfect niche for people with similar disabilities. If you can come up with a solution it would probably be well received by the deaf community. You might even be able to bundle some software together into a product.
Unless you are able to get Kyle to create captioning for some particular videos, I don't know how you might get the content unless another member were to transcribe it for you.
Great article, Kyle! Golf has always been a huge passion of mine, and I've been an avid golfer pretty much all my life. In high school, and beyond, I played in several tournaments. It's the most fun I can have on any given day!

Yeah, the golf niche is definitely a vast one that is rife with all sorts of opportunity. There are so many segments to this category as well, so it is very easy to narrow down to something that is more specific.

You are speaking my language. I turned the back pasture into a driving range. In college, I took golf for PE thinking it was not an athletic sport. I did not want to join something to make me run but I also did not know I would enjoy it so much. Golf at North Idaho College was a class you can take repeatedly for credit.
I liked it so much I took every term with an instructor who is married to an elite golf course architect. I'll never forget what she said she just had to keep giving me As, as although I have the poorest form, I made the best shots.
I worked toward my home on the Hayden Lake Golf course, and reminisced on time we spent at the Coeur d' Alene Resort. We had a service to comb the beaches and return golf balls way back in the day. We dove and wrastled up as many as we could find, just fun loving kids. So the pros would humor us and give us donations to fetch the balls like little pups.
I finally got set up, game room in the basement PAR 4
When I left the Hayden lake course, it was difficult. You don't know how long I had worked and longed for bathrooms with showers you could play put-put or full swing in without hitting a single wall.
Then grandma fell and broke her knee implant. They were going to sell her property and put her in a nursing home against her will. Well grandpa was an old school entrepreneur who curated this land and put in place provisions so she would be able to stay. Then he died abruptly of Pancreatic cancer.
What grandma needed was a nurse next door.
I abruptly packed up 7 kids 3 weeks postpartum and moved from the golf course on Hayden lake toward an old farm in the armpits of Idaho. I rented a cute house on Red Bud street, while gutting the old farm house like a fish.
With a LOT of work, grandma was able to stay and I made my own not too shabby golf course. With back off my gma on the brain.
I wonder if there is such a thing as a golf nurse that sits in the shadows just ready with a stethoscope for avid golfers who need expert monitoring?. Just kidding!
But anyway, I love this blog and remember your scaling it one awhile back. This touches my heart. Not like, oooooh money money money but here birdie birdie hole in one, that's about par for the course of my story. Hooray fearless leader, golf clap.

What would you suggest for me as the best direction here at WA, I really like the short game aspect and it is where I have noticed my biggest improvements. Would that be a direction I could head? What sort of products could I promote?

I too wish I could be scratch, usually keep to the low 80's unless I totally have a blow up round.
I know that you are going to be able to take your avid interest in golf and turn it into a business and the "short game" aspect sounds like a natural direction for you Jamie.

-putters
-practice mats
-putting mats
-short game courses/memberships (usually recurring revenue)
-short game practice tools
-golf balls
-whiffle balls
-etc
There are likely going to be 1,000's of things you could discuss and 1,000's of things that you could promote in this space, and through time as you establish yourself as an authority, you can move towards the creation of your own products, whether digital memberships, courses, or otherwise.

And you are exactly right. To be a successful affiliate marketer, you need to be good at helping people.
Nobody starts off as an expert in any niche, and you certainly don't need to be an expert to become VERY knowledgeable in a subject and to provide really comprehensive insight into a particular topic.
The golf industry, like most others are rife with opportunity online and working with many in this space over the years, I know just how many facets within it that one can be lucrative with it.

Do you believe I told my wife I found a business for a living and, soon I would start playing golf as a hobby?! Of course, at that time I was joking with her.
Few hours passed away - and I controlling the anxiety to get back to figure out what niche I would step in, as the objective of lesson 3 -, though I decided taking a look at some profiles could inspire me. When the "blog" bar drew my attention.
"What's the very purpose and how exactly this works?" I thought to myself.
I felt amazed, just there in the first sight while taking a look on Kyle's blog page. I read some topics, just for having a general idea of what was going on. Read some entire posts. Though one of those caught me from inside, recalling the joke I made to my wife moments earlier. And here I got!
Since this morning when I was led to this site I've been enjoying and sowing good seeds. Here I've found true motivation, as well as this article really inspired me!
It seems the universe is telling me something...
It means I have a niche now so can jump to the next step!
