Are You Up For Ambassadorship?
OK, we are now a few days into The Open Education Project and I am getting quite a few questions about how to become an ambassador of WA, what are the requirements, what is it based on, and how to understand if you are actually working towards it.
Why Become an Ambassador?
First, let's discuss why one would want to become an Ambassador, outside the obvious reason that you are helping someone out through your contributions, here are some things that may not have been so apparent initially.
Here are some of the benefits to becoming an ambassador:
- Further exposure within the system (profile exposure, featured member)
- Addition to the initial “follow users†screen that new members see when someone logs into WA
- Ability to earn unlimited credit levels through the training resources
- Massive reach, brand, and credibility within WA
- Access to new systems, access to pre betas within WA
- Many new opportunities with new system developments ($$)
- Ambassador acknowledge within Wealthy Affiliate (announcement)
We cannot reveal everything at this point, but there are definitely going to be some more "grandiose benefits", but we don't want to reveal anything that hasn't completely been developed or is in the early stages of development. But these are the core benefits of being an ambassadors, ones that will give you true Ambassador privileges within the system.
Who is it for?
Everyone. Really, if you are interested in becoming a regular contributor to the community and interested in sharing and helping others, while being rewarded at the same time, then you are a PRIME candidate for becoming an Ambassador.
IF you are saying to yourself, I don't know enough to offer training or blogs here within WA, I can honestly say that you are thinking too narrowly. You definitely have value to offer to a community like this, you definitely know stuff that others don't know about the online business world, and you definitely know things that others would find a lot of value in.
And guess what, by being involved in the Internet business landscape you are going to learn new things every day, new experiences, processes and techniques that others would love for you to share with them. The OEP is not just Internet Marketing, the training could be applicable to any aspect of Internet business, ANY!
What are the Requirements?
We are going to have minimum requirements as to what you HAVE to do at a bare minimum to become an Ambassador, but our overall Member Rank is very indicative as to who will reach the Ambassador level. The algorithm is getting updated as we speak, so if you are contributing and wondering why your rank is still lower than others that are just communicating, you will see your rankings move after the update.
We are a community based on the principles of education and that is our focus when determining who is an Ambassador. Social activity definitely plays a large role as well and how responsive and helpful you are towards others, but you must offer Training and Blogs that help the MASSES (versus just the one on one) to achieve this.
Here are some anticipated minimum requirements:
(1) At Least ONE Training Resource Per Month (that achieves Level 1 Credits)
(2) Consistent Blog Activity (2 per month is GOOD, 4+ is GREAT)
(3) Regular activity within discussions within chat, forum, training, and blogs
(4) Timely support of your resources and keeping them up to date
(5) Being in the top RANKS within the ranking algorithm
We are not limiting the number of people that can achieve this, but it is going to be a floating scale and the Member Rank that you have will be very indicative of where you are at in terms of Ambassadorship. It will be announced when you become an Ambassador.
Once you become one, it does not guarantee that you will retain status. If your activity drops on a month to month basis, you can lose it. It is not something that you achieve and can just forget about, consistent activity within WA will lead to being an Ambassador, I suppose the true definition of the meaning.
And YES, you will be able to outrank Carson and myself if you are more active and offer more contributions ot the community.
Ambassador Training Coming Soon
In the next week, we are going to be rolling out Ambassador training that will give you guidelines and steps that you can follow towards being a Wealthy Affiliate ambassador. It is going to explain exactly what it takes, but you need to remember, that someone that is an Ambassador is not just someone who posts or adds something to WA, they need to represent themselves as an "Ambassador".
Training and updates are coming soon, we just wanted to keep you in the loop about the algorithmic changes that are coming to the ranking and some of the underlying requirements of becoming an ambassador.

I think this is an excellent venture guys. Everyone needs mentors and people that can encourage and motivate. This community can be fraught with frustration and so its a great idea......good job.
Thanks Mikey, glad you like it. I do agree that many folks are frustrated coming into any online business venture (especially with past expectations that have been set by scams) and having access to a helpful community will always help turn ones opinion around of the online business world (and their ability to achieve success within it).
Encouraging us to create training resources is a great idea as teaching others helps you to learn better too.
What does 'achieving Level 1 credits' mean?
It absolutely does. When you can teach something, it will typically teach you a lot more about the topic. As a creator of training, you can earn credits for your training (real $$) as they reach certain levels of activity.
Hi Kyle & Carson, Can you clarify something for me? ....quoted from above :

My interpretation of this is : that no matter how much help you offer via chat or one on one, you cannot become an Ambassador if you do not make training resources. Is that correct?

Yes, that is correct. Chat and related activity definitely contributes, but the thing about one on one chat is that it educates one person, a training resource helps MANY. That is our reasoning for this, but in saying this you cannot just create training and be a ghost int he background. Activity definitely plays an important role. :)
Is there a place where you can get a full list of the most recently created trainings? I'm sure you can look at the tags but this filters for the keywords and not the newest.
This will definitely be an update and we will be adding a list of the newest training within the Training page in the very near future. Right now, just keep an eye on the activity roll as training comes in through here regularly.
How and where do you produce a tutorial? Is the mechanical process outlined somewhere on the site? Are tutorials checked out by you before they are added to WA? Is redundancy an issue? What if 2 members write about the same thing, but 2 approaches?
Click the Training menu item, when withing training you will see a big Create Training button in the top right. Click that. You can create either video or tutorial style training.
You can create something on a topic that has already been covered, it isn't a redundancy if your approach is different. In fact, many things will have many different ways of accomplishing the same thing, often times with varied results.
As for training on how to create training, it is coming very soon (likely later this week). :)
This is an awesome platform, WA has definitely blown away any competition within the online IM education, it is really going to encourage folks to jump on in and get involved. You two gentleman do an outstanding job helping others, Thanks!
Thanks for the encouragement Lou! We're really striving to focus on one main thing and that is EDUCATION. We want everyone that comes to WA to have access to the best online business training anywhere in the world. Whether you are an individual, an offline business, a large or small corporation....we want to have something for everyone and change the way people think about Internet marketing. Give all WA members a safe place where they can learn without being bombarded with promotion after promotion to buy the next best thing.
How could anyone honestly buy an e-book or an IM course when they can get 1000x the value here at WA for a fraction of the price? Not to mention the support of the most awesome group of Interent marketers in the world (yourself included!!!!).

If people do not believe you, just send them to Wealthy Affiliate and they can see for themselves and get a Starter Account.

I'm liking this new Ambassador program you've added into the new face of WA. I do just have one question: Prior trips to Vegas were directly related to how many people you referred to WA. I'm just wondering if WA referrals factor into one achieving ambassador status?
Sharing WA definitely contributes to one achieving ambassador status, but referrals are certainly NOT (and are no way near) the only metric used. With the new WA there are many contributing factors to your rank and referrals are just one of them.
