I Want it Now Syndrome...

Since I joined the Wealthy Affiliate I have referred or invited 150 new members, a large percentage have never even completed their account profiles. I tried everything in the book to encourage, cajole, and bribery to change the situation.

I have concluded they suffer from I want it now syndrome. They stumble into WA take a quick look around and seeing no promises of quick money and the real possibility they might have to "work to earn" and they are gone.

What can you do to improve the conversions to retain these tire kickers? Absolutely nothing...until they grow weary with the search for the pot of gold that doesn't exist there really isn't much you can do for them. On the bright side they are excellent future prospects, way in the future but they will be back.

Instead of wasting time on them concentrate on the ones that are ready to build for the future with a legitimate business of their own.

That's how I see it anyway!

I think it also depends on how WA is promoted. I've seen some people on here saying things like 'this system really works' when it isn't even a 'system' to begin with.

When I see the word system, I tend to think 'automated income without much work or investment on your part'.

If you said this was an 'online business opportunity', that's just as bad.

If you said this was a business course that shows you how to build a business from the ground up with a lot of work involved, I'm sure it will turn away the gold diggers.

I wrote about this same thing a little while back . The tyre kickers are a disappointment after your hard work in getting them to the vehicle and they don't want to drive. If they want instant riches then there are tens of thousands of scams they can go with.

it is better to have people who are committed to going all the way, keep doing what your doing they will come

Well, I'm sure there will probably be those that will come back at some point, once they realize there's no such thing as making "quick" money online. If they're not willing to try yet, they're not ready for what it takes to do the things we've learned here.

Maybe they start looking around here and start thinking "that's too complicated...I can't do it." and then they're off to some shiny object.

It's very frustrating, but it takes a certain mindset for people to stick around and actually work for their dream. That's my thoughts for what they're worth, anyways.
Keep up the good work and best of luck to you! :) -Sherry

Keep building, they will start coming.

the only get rich quick scheme that I know of is the Lottery.....then again, it's a 14 million to 1 shot whether that comes off. For every other kind of success you need to work for it. Good post by the way....agree with you.

Have you filled out the welcome and follow up automated messages?

Those work for me and you can remind people to fill out their profile and tell them the benefit of filling out their profile. You can also offer an incentive for taking the $19 premium offer.

If you read my post did you notice I said I have tried everything...

I did read your entire post. I don't know what you meant when you said "everything" since you didn't have a detailed list of what you've tried.

2

Yea, good post, the only thing you can do is qualify them better. Some people don't want to put in the blood sweat and tears. We are in the sorting business sorting the doers from the tire kickers ;-)

2

Good philosophy! It does get frustrating however; you just have to be patient and appreciate the ones that stay. I bet the others will be back sometime in the future.

That's a fairly accurate summation of affairs, Ken. It's a bit like going to the supermarket and buying a pre-packaged pre-digested take 5 minutes in the microwave meal to give the instant gratification of a full stomach. Never mind the nutritional value!

The difference here, is that WA are provided with raw ingredients and recipes on how to prepare nourishing and sustaining "meals" - even if they are "electronic". Obviously, too much trouble for the typical shopper (browser) racing through the internet supermarket. Perhaps some will later think again and return to the Wealthy (and healthy) Affiliate shop. Just keep presenting the menu and the possibilities!

Nice analogy George!

Nice analogy George. Give a man a fish and he'll eat for a day, teach him to fish and he'll have food for life!!
