I'm an artist and teacher in Colorado. A late-life career change brought me to teaching last year, and I just completed my first year as a High School English teacher. It was great. Now it's over, and my contract has been non-renewed.

Something most people don't know: First-year teachers are often "fired" after their first year, making room for more experienced teachers within the district to take their position. They'll probably be re-hired later, once student registration is completed, just as the new school year starts. This is the real reason so many first-year teachers never come back.

"You're not good enough in May, but if we're desperate we may take you back in the fall." This disheartening message makes webmasters out of good teachers.

WealthyAffiliate, I'm back. Watch me soar!

Hi Kelley,

I just wanted to pop by to say thank you for taking the time to read my articles the other day and offer your invaluable feedback.

It is really appreciated, and although I'm no English teacher, if you would like me to return the favour in any way, then you won't have to ask twice!

All the best!

OMG that is soooo unfair which country are you from KleeClay, sorry don't know your first name ? I'm a teacher in Africa, okay our currency is very low as compared to Europe and America, but we here it is not the same. How does one get experience if they are not allowed to go beyond the first year ? Do you have an option to do locum teaching, if you really enjoy teaching, that would be an option to look at, to do alongside online marketing etc...

It is quite likely that they will need qualified teachers in a couple of months when they realize their student numbers are up. It won't be in the same school but in the same district. At this point, I am not certain I want to teach if I do get an offer. I love the kids, but I do hate the politics! This is a good time in my life for me to see if the marketing and selling my artwork can pay the bills.

Hello Kelley,

Looks like you've been plenty busy with all your sites. I have to admit that your "slow yarn" caught my attention. Not knowing what that was (other than someone telling a 'tall tale' really slow, just kidding) I had to take a look.

Wow! What an intriguing web site. Very well put together.

Keep it up. :) Tom

Thanks so much, Tom! I've done a ton of changes just in the past week, switching to a theme that I think looks more professional. I loved the casual look of my old theme, but wasn't happy with my bounce rate or the layout of many of my pages. It had no sidebar at all, so all picture and links had to be within the main body of text! Now I'm putting out fires-- all the forced formatting changes to accommodate the old theme are not needed with the new one. :-)

Oh, and I like your slow motion tall tale interpretation. Every time I see "slow movement" written down I admit I think "needs prune juice."

I started both and then jumped over and built my website. That link is at my profile and I'd really, really like your comments!! I'm going to do a Blog about it tomorrow. I'm at a turning point in my life, too if you can read between the lines on my profile. I've been with WA about 2 weeks and having my first website up was my first goal. I LOVE this place. I'm serious. How can anyone think about doing an Internet business and not be part of W.A. Now that the first website is up my focus shifts a little. New goals: driving traffic to the site (in its niche) and getting busy in Affiliate Bootcamp. I'm on Course 1, Lesson 1 on Affiliate Bootcamp and on Course 1, Lesson 4 in the training class and again, I left both training classes to build the site. I have sooo many things working. I get aggravated when I have to sleep...too much to do. That's my report. As to "found the right place"...there is no way I could agree with you more!!!! W.A. is awesome.

Just read your profile. I'll do whatever I can to help your on-line business grow. I've had a lot of success in "general (old-fashioned) business, and now I hope to bring that to the Internet. I've only put up a couple of blogs. Time for another one. I have a good one in mind. Your blog titles look very good. There just aren't enough hours in the day. My first website went "live" yesterday, and now my biggest challenge is driving traffic to it. Anyway, thanks for being here at W.A. and if I can somehow help you on your journey, just let me know!

Very cool site, Tom! I was surprised to see ceramics-- somehow expected silversmithing because of her name! :) I like the gallery setup you have. I would like to hear more about each piece, though. Pictures weren't quite enough for me.

Hi KleeClay, I just replied to one of your blogs dealing with Amazon and Colorado. What a disappointment that turned out to be. Not your blog, the topic of it. :-(

I hope something good changes in that regard. I'll be following you to see what other great tidbits of information you have to share.

Cheers,
Jeremy

Hello KleeClay... thanks for the follow.

I recently migrated away from Colorado last year. I grew up and lived there most of my life. I didn't like cold weather anymore, and I especially didn't like the direction the state was and is still heading. It's not the same place anymore toto.

On a lighter note... I really enjoyed reading your blog posts, and found them both helpful and enlightening. Thanks for the insight and the heads-up on the Amazon Workaround tip. Best of luck to you. Be well.

Cheers,
Mike the Aviator

Hi Mike! It's great to meet you! I know just what you mean about the direction the state is going. I left Boulder about 10 years ago because it was no longer the hometown I grew up in. I'm seeing the whole state going just a little nuts now.

Thanks for the compliments on my blog posts. Looking at your profile, I think we both found the right way out of the "unemployable" hole. Sometimes there are drawbacks to being an entrepeneur.

Drawbacks yes, but oh is it worth the challenges. You know... as I think about it. I guess what I really enjoy about being entrepreneurial, is that the only thing that can get in my way is me. Things that make you go hmmmm! LOL

Cheers

Most of my stuff I sell locally, so I haven't ever set up a website for internet sales. I think I mentioned in the chat yesterday that this is really new to me, how to market products. Also, until a few months ago, I owned my own restaurant so I had no time to make or sell art! :)

I hope you will have the time now your stuff is great. The best part of your site I believe is that it is unique. My opinion today in the IM world that is great. As far as getting your site to make money I believe you are in the right place. don't you think.

I was a waitress for 20 years I loved it maybe that is weird because people here talk the whole work thing down. but for me, I loved meeting and serving people. I miss it but need to close to home right now.

I'm loving Wealthy Affiliate. So much of this is information that I was getting bits and pieces and hints of from other sites, but I really feel like I can make this work now. I'm obsessing, and writing several articles a day so far. The website I put up first is just the tip of the iceberg. I have so many ideas!
