Sometimes Success Comes In a Roundabout Way

I love Wealthy Affiliate, and it's been such a supportive community for me for years as I've developed my affilate site. But sometimes, success comes sneaking around a corner where you hadn't been looking.

This weekend, it wasn't my affiliate site that made me feel like I had the whole Internet world at my back, but the ecommerce site I created for selling my artwork. And yeah, I could only make that because of the things I've learned here at WA. It's become a way for people to purchase my work, but also a solid place where potential customers can always communicate with me and see that I'm for real.

I haven't been writing for either website as I usually do. I've been creating and creating for an art show that took place this past weekend. It paid off in multiple ways.

One of my sculptures won first place in the juried portion of the show. I also had a booth in the unjuried portion, and I passed out nearly all my business cards, referring people to my website! I found people fascinated with what I do, so I know that I can be successful making my artwork AND teaching classes to people, both online and locally.

I watched my analytics today, and saw how many people followed through on the business card by checking out my ecommerce website. A year ago, none of this would have been possible. Now, I have a building business to back me up in the form of my affiliate website, and a direct venue to sell my artwork on the other site.

I've always wanted to spend my time creating-- both artwork and websites-- but I have always been nervous about becoming the stereotypical starving artist. I got some great confirmation this weekend that says I really can find success while following my heart!
