Facebook Boost Experiment: Still Waiting to See if it Works

I tried boosting a post in Facebook today. It's inexpensive as advertising goes, but the jury is still out on the success of the boost. An hour after it began, the post had reached 57 people from my carefully chosen target audience pool, but had gotten only 1 click-through to my website. On the other hand, Google Analytics tells me that my usual number of viewers by this time of night is more than 4 times the usual, with a far better bounce rate.
This article was important to me, since it was about a really special fiber artist. My mother is known worldwide for her skill in miniature needlework. It's a fairly small circle of fans (pardon the pun), but they are fans for good reason. The cover picture here is her "Canton Rug," which is worked on silk gauze with 48 stitches per inch. It is her own design, and so far it is one of a kind. (She donates her graphs to an online group when she completes the prototype.) I'm excited to share her work with more readers as part of my campaign to grow my subscriber list.
I'll let you know how the campaign goes. I paid $15 for two days of the boosted post. Next stop: Pinterest ads.
