Articles and Blogs

They are SO not the same things!

Sure, they are similar ... but definitely not the same. I did my first SA (Street Article) last night, and I knew it may not be 'right' and well ... I was right. But, at least it was a small formatting error that I think I got fixed.

Small things can be big lessons

One thing that I have always believed in - we all have to learn through Trial and Error. It's the same with anything new we try. I learned that it's not as easy to write an article as it is a blog post, as we tend to try and sell something in the blog verse the article is more just talking ... like you talk to a friend about something that you are not "trying" to influence into buying from you.

Something natural ...

I have discovered that, at least for myself ... I can relax and think of writing in a more natural style, just like I talk to a friend sitting next to me. Seems much less stressing that way, and the words flow out and make more sense.

Alas -

Enough of my rambling and making more of a mental note to myself to be more natural than anything really important. Maybe someone will find this helpful as well. ~smiles~

The trials and errors are on the way to success!

That is so very true! ~smiles~

Nice post Kham. Now that summer vacation is here, I'm going to kick my site into high gear. I've backed away the last week or so, because of finals at school.

I am still a bit uncomfortable writing, but have used the blogs on the WA site to get more comfortable with writing. I've written a few Street Articles documents and have them posted and linked.

Now it's time to work on the website.

Kali

I am still waiting to find out if my first SA gets accepted this time. Seems I made a small glitch in it the first post through. Signed up for 3 of the recommended other article sites too. Lots to ponder and do now ~smiles~

Thanks for the post compliment

Good job Kham. Think content is dependent on the audience. Was fortunate to have a good English teacher who taught the many types of essays, compositions and methods of research and book writing. More important is how comfortable your writing is. Your writing is warm and easy to read along to the very end.^_~

Awww! Thank you for that compliment. That means a ton actually to know I write readable things ~smiles~

Yes, Kham, very true... it's always better to pretend you're talking to a friend when writing. The flow is better and the ideas come across much more clearly. I was taught just the opposite in school; that you have to sound formal. Through experience, I have found this is NOT true. I'm kind of pissed I've had to spend all kinds of time undoing the ideas I was taught in school...

I actually told my husband yesterday that my English teacher would be rolling over in her grave right now! (Rest her soul) I hated writing all through school, and now look at me? ~smiles~

Nice to meet you by the way and again, welcome to WA!

Yes, all my English and Writing teachers would be rolling over in their graves as well! Well, let them roll! I find this other way of writing informally to be so much better, and I like writing a whole lot better when I do it this new way! So, onward with the new!

Hello Kham, I think writing is at its best when it is natural. I think you can build up quite a rapport with people when you come across as friendly and 'chatty'. It is my natural style and doesn't suit every level but then, I'm not writing official documents. Great post. Thanks

Thanks Jackie ~smiles~ I think it was just more me making it "bigger" than it was, then the relief that it was not as bad as I hyped it to be. Now making profiles at various article sites that they talk about in the Cert Course - part 2 ... that is taking work ~sigh~ I had to actually dig up an old photo of myself. It's not easy finding a photo when I am always the picture taker and next to never in the picture

I think you are absolutely right. We can all write, but it is not something that comes if you get stressed about it. The talking to a friend analogy is spot on even in blog and articles. Let's not forget that we want anyone who visits our writings to enjoy them and find them to be interesting (friendly?),
Regards
Hudson

Oddly, as I was writing this post the old saying came to mind that you are told before going in front of an audience ... "picture everyone in their underwear!". Then I got to thinking about that one ... not sure I wanted to see 5 million pairs of undies :-/ But at least, it gave me a giggle and eased my nerves a bit ~smiles~

I'm sure this will help when I start writing, which I'm sure is the next step, therefore the extended break. Any time I write, it is pretty much the same as if I'm talking, unless it's to a business or something, so maybe this won't be as scary as I have it built up to be. Thanks.

I was looking at SA as complicated since you can't write it this way or that way and links have to be specific. So I was nervous that first article. I took a pause from the BC after Phase 2 and went back to the Certification Part 2 (half we did through the first part of BC) and then Poof! Article writing. I knew it was coming, and I can see where it will help - but that first step is nerve wracking

Smiles to you. Thank you.

Thank you as well ~smiles~ Hope it helps you when you need it too

Some really great advice about writing with ease, Kham... thank ya'

Thank you ~smiles~ I had gotten frustrated, can you tell?
