I usually open a new browser tab and go directly to Jaaxy.com because I'm always in the middle of something else on WA.
Hello
I want a glossary on my website and would like it to show the definition of a word if you hover over the text( a little box would pop up). Any recommendations would be
Hey Jackie!
Yes—you can definitely create a glossary on your website, and having a hover-over tooltip for definitions is a great idea! It adds a nice layer of user experience, especially if your content uses niche-specific or technical terms.
Here are a few easy ways to do it:
🔹 Option 1: Use a Tooltip Plugin (if you're on WordPress)
There are plugins that let you add tooltips to words or phrases. A few popular ones:
Simple Tooltips
CM Tooltip Glossary
WP Glossary
These let you set definitions, and when a visitor hovers over the term, a small box pops up with your explanation.
🔹 Option 2: Manually Add with HTML
If you only need a few definitions, you can use the built-in HTML title attribute like this:
Word
When someone hovers over “Word,” the definition will appear in a small box.
🔹 Option 3: Dedicated Glossary Page
You can also create a separate page with your glossary terms listed A–Z and link to it throughout your site. Some plugins even generate this for you automatically.
Excellent, thank you. I'm not sure if I'm confident with the HTML option but I'll definitely give the plugins a look.
