Time Management

The hours fly by when writing content and editing our websites. I lose track of time completely.

Food is not important and my hubby feels neglected and I won't admit to the undone housework.

I go to my paid job because I have too ....... but one day :)

I am thinking I may need to put some time management strategies in place.

Keen to hear what other online marketers are doing to manage there time so I can try out your tips?

Kerriet

When I'm home and have time to work on the computer I focus on my site. If I only have a half hour, I'll take the time to help others with there site on the give and take thread and hope to attract others to fo the same for me. With small gaps of time, instead of playing a game on my phone I check e-mails, my social media likee facebook and pinterest, or I read hints and tips on blogging and affiliate marketing. But when I have an hour + that's business time. I also have a wife and two girls so most of my good time is late at night or on the weekend.

Hi Dan, this is a great insight. I'm going to use this thanks. How is your site "bubblewrappedbaby" going?

Hey Kerriet, I'm glad I could help. As for my site, I've been getting some ups and downs but I look at it as a learning in progress. The last few weeks have been a lot of experimenting with social media like Pinterest and Facebook, which have driven some traffic to my site but I think I'm going to keep my biggest focus on getting Google to find my webpages. Keywords, content and getting people to interact.

I never learned to manage my time very well. Even before I retired, the only time management that I had was at work. Punched a time clock.
Now, I can't and don't even want to follow a so-called list or schedule. I may not get things done in "timely" manner, but this is the way that works for me.
"Does anybody really know what time it is? Does anybody really care"?

I always laugh when I hear the words "time management", its not possible to manage time, its only possible to manage your self

When we try to manage time we focus on time and time does not exist

People always talk about time like this

There is not enough time
Time fly's when your having fun
I don't have enough time
Its time I changed

Then ask these people this, What is time? and your met with a blank expression, because no one knows

So what is time? - time is emotion
Why is this?
When in pain time slows down
When having fun time speeds up
When frustrated time crawls
When bored time almost stops
When in a panic time speeds up

Manage your emotions, not your time

Meditation will get you in touch with the timeless place within your self, for this place is where your creativity and abundance sits patiently, waiting for you to connect with it.

When ever you go in the midst of movement and activity, carry your stillness with you

According to Wikipedia you are on the right track - time is... "the fourth dimension and a measure in which events can be ordered from the past through the present into the future, and also the measure of durations of events and the intervals between them"

hey Baz, this is helping me/us Kerrie

I do a morning routine of getting some email out of the way, take a goal for my website and complete it. Have lunch, finish up some more mail. Do some cleaning, not all at once....set one specific thing to take care of.

Do some research, go pick up son from school. Come home and do another goal or two on website depending on what it entails. Catch up on more email, do a bit more research and maybe write a WA blog....this of course varies depending on writing a blog for the website, I try to do 3-5 a week.

Weekends are on and off and leisurely, helps to relax the mind.
Have a great weekend.
Kim :))

Thanks Kim - much appreciated - I am developing my first TM plan now.

Excellent! :))

Hi Kerrie! -

Just tackle one thing at a time!

ie whatever the task is ask yourself - "will doing this move my business forward" - if it will concentrate on that one task - until it is complete!

And then - and ONLY - then move on to the next task!

Remember to think SMALL when it comes to your tasks! :)

David

And remember Rome wasn't built in a day...but they were laying bricks everyday!

Thanks David - I have such a long to do list it is good to ask the question to see if I can shorten it a little :)

Hi Kerrie! -

As I said - you only need to think about that ONE thing!

Forget about making lists - those are just like creating prisons - for yourself.

Pick that one thing that will move you bessiness forward - and do that now!

As I say - when it comes to your 'to list' - think small! :)

I use a simple timer. I set up 30-minute blocks. Thirty minutes only because I'm severely adult ADHD and I can't concentrate. Longer than that and I start to falter. I also use a list program in my phone. I also alternate tasks. Like 30-minutes writing, then 30 minutes cleaning the bathroom (for joy). That makes me get up out of my chair. You'll find what works for you soon. It takes some experimenting.

Hi Carla - I think the timer is a very good idea as I need an auditory cue to stop me and to go for a break.

Good question Kerriet. I am also interested in reading the answers.

Keep track of things that need to be done and that are done using Trello. Free tool.
Make lists, keep track of what is done.
Set Goals but don't be upset if they aren't met on time. Just adjust to make the targets more accurate as time goes on.

Take Sunday Evening to plan your week and identify how well you are progressing.

Hi Craig, it is Sunday early evening here so I am going to go check out Trello - thank you very much kerrie
