Proven Headline Secrets You Need to Know
Proven Headline Secrets You Need to Know
This is going to be a quick and dirty post about headlines, so buckle up!
For every 10 people who see your headline online only 2 of them will click through. If your headline is dull and boring that click-through rate could drop from 20% to 0% very quickly.
Here are some of top ways to make great headlines that I've learned over the years.
Headline Secret #1:
There needs to be emotion that creates the desire in the passer by to click on your link.
Example of Emotion Words:Proven, Suck, Beautiful, Urgent
Headline Secret #2:
Power words push the passer by to click. After emotion stirs them up hit them with a power word to effectively increase the click-through rate.
Example of Power Words:How To, Discount, Simple, Increase
Headline Secret #3:
Have an even mix of emotion, power, common, and uncommon words. This will help keep the headline sounding natural and clear. If you stuff them with a bunch of one type of word you'll never convert any one to readers.
There are now great tools online to check your headline to make sure it is being used effectively. The one I suggest using is the Headline Analyzer by CoSchedule. If you have never heard of CoSchedule check out my review of their blog scheduling web application on my main site.

That's great! It has been one of the best stepping stones in growing my blog. If people don't feel compelled to click our links we will get zero readers and reshares.
Illuminating mate I knew headlines were important but never looked in to them in this detail before!!! Thanks for all the blogs :)
You are welcome Simon! I have a very in-depth blog post about headlines coming out in the furture. (Still doing a ton of research) I'll be sure to add it to this WA post once it's up.
