Hi Guy's

I am going to put one of my websites into maintenance mode while I work on it, however, I am wondering how will I view the work I have done if there it has a ma

I use a plugin to indicate that the site is under maintenance. It displays an image of my choice to indicate that some work is being done on the site, but if I do into the site, it recognizes that it's me and displays the normal site view with an optional button to show the maintenance screen that anyone else will see.

Hi Phil,

Cheers mate will look into that.

The one I use is called Under Construction. If you do a search for it, it's the one with the rotating gear icon.

I would not put your website in maintenance mood.

You can set up a static page, and choose it in your settings > reading vs your latest posts.

Hi Abie,

I have a year to do this so I'm not fussed about the posts I am too busy with other stuff design-wise and don't need traffic yet!

Okay :D

Hi Stephen, you can use PlugOptin landing page builder as a new plug-in. They use many different landing page templates for free one of them has in maintenance mode. I am using that for my free bf landing page. It's free and easy to use. Just edit the blocks and the wording, and it's done.

Hi Brenda,

I will look into that for sure sounds easier which is what I need but what I am worried about is viewing the homepage when I do some work on it as it will just show me the maintenance mode page!

Hi Guy's

Abie has been so kind to share with me about the WordPress forum which I have downloaded and I'm now looking at the settings. I have the documentation for setup

It takes time, sometimes you feel like you are talking to an empty room, but let your forum be niche specific and the right folks will find it. Also have it well advertised helps.

Good luck building.

Stephen, this is also new to me¬!

Stuart

Hi Stuart I've had several forums before but they were all uploaded to a unique domain like a website not a plugin so this is also new to me this way

I’m not currently using it…I was not aware of such a forum existed, but I will look into it if you can share the documentation.

Thank you!

Hi Guy's

I am trying to put my mind at rest and know that it's all about making one website work traffic-wise before moving on to other websites. I didn't do that.

My ideal position on this stuff is: If you have a site you've been working on (which is the case for you) then there are 2 choices:

1) Keep growing the site if you truly enjoy it.

2) Pause the growth of this site (for now) and focus on a niche site topic you LOVE and use the OEC course to grow it. You already have a lot of experience in this process and most niche topics aren't as competitive as MMO so you may get faster/better results and you can always go back to the old site.

For MMO site, product reviews are what convert best in general (and have the least competition).

Hi Vitaliy,

Thanks for your direction and I know you have told me many times to do reviews. I would have done this if I had enough information to review other platforms.

I read a post on here yesterday that one member paid a lot of money for the course to review it. I think she failed in that attempt to get her money back via the review.

However, She did get a decent amount back for the other paid subscription.

I'm going to think this weekend and really make my mind up. My websites stay as I am earning a little on AdSense but will think about a niche that as you said I know a lot about.

Thanks for your help here, much appreciated and will let you know my decision soon.

There's numerous ways to review programs without having to buy it Stephen. There's YouTube video reviews from other people, blog posts from other people on the program you can research and cite on your website. Most MMO programs are unfortunately not very good and they are also extremely expensive. You can certainly decide if you want to buy a program, but in my opinion WA has it all and one argument you can make especially if you review an expensive program on say blogging, is that WA teaches similar stuff but for way less.

Of course, you need to be honest and point to facts and sources to prove your review, but aside from this you can do reviews just fine this way.

Stephen, I still have several dormant websites out there! I have finally put all of my efforts into the one site that I originally joined Wealthy Affiliate for, which is my book promotion site, but I still keep some of the dormant ones there, because we never know when the bug to work on it again will strike!

Jeff

Hi Jeff,

I think that's a great idea, after all, it's only a few pounds a year to renew them and both of them are worth a bit as far as domains go so I will keep them. Also, I am making a few pounds on Adsense so maybe as you mentioned just work on the one until the time is right but keep them all.

Dianne also mentioned my posts are fine just need to learn more about keywords which is great for me as I can learn that next and it keeps me busy. I thought I knew enough but that isn't the case lol.

I wish you well, my friend!

Hi - having looked at your original website, your posts are nicely written, but I don't think you have really grasped keyword research.

And that will be absolutely vital moving forward, whether you choose to start again or not.

Your keywords should be what people are genuinely searching for in Google.

So, just taking a few examples from your site - "the lifecycle of an affiliate marketing business", "the unemployed social effect", and "never feel disconnected from your SEO".

Realistically, these are not phrases that people would ever type in Google.

Take a look at this post from Partha.

Hi Dianne,

Thanks for your kind words on the posts and I 100% agree with you on the keyword structure and implementation which is something I need to learn. I'm going to read Partha's post until I have grasped it. Once again Dianna thanks,

no harm in having more than one site on the go at any one time ...as long as you keep one in sight all the time...
so if you start thinking ...another post on that site ...then create one on one of the others....
the old saying of ' a change is as good as a rest' is true...
you will keep up the momentum and have a quick break from that one site before coming back to it...
but going through the training - especially as it has changed a lot in structure - will help to see if you can remember all of the basics or you relearn... or can add value to the lesson in the comments...
have fun Stephen

Hi Phil,

Yes I'm thinking now I have a new PC etc and things seem much easier I will try and take breaks and as Dianne said to learn about keywords. I like your idea of just doing a little on one website and then on another a little at a time with breaks.

In Friendship
Stephen

it does take a bit longer, but if it keeps you working at it then there is no problem...
try to plan out topics and find keywords for posts in batches and this makes things go a little faster...
but the way Partha has shown, using hte questions people ask through seo minion does give you an advantage of answering the topics people are actually asking...
from what Diane has said with your headings i think you are trying to discuss topics too broad and general....
be specific and try to have at least one thing they can do after they have finished the post for themselves..so answer the question and give them an action to do after reading the post - even if it is another post you have on a topic that will take them further....but it must be a benefit for them...

No harm redoing the training, often times you find your first is a learning curve you'll do lots of mistakes however as you progress you'd gain experience and momentum. I would and I have done many times, I go for a reference every now and then.

No harm starting a website too right form scratch if you feel strongly that's the right action for your business needs and requirements.

Hi Abie!

I chose MMO and it's great for some, there's no question about that. I have learned a lot. however, need to put that in order and I think the training may help with that. Thanks for your comment :)

I will decide this weekend!
