A myriad of hidden sales just discovered!
1st March 2015:
Okay, so a few hours ago I posted about my second sale, so I thought I'd just go and check a few other affiliate accounts that I had links for. Namely my linkshare one, which I have a few links to products from.
I am ecstatic to report that I've actually earnt $22.60 in commissions, all that I didn't even know about! It means my actual first sale was not the one I reported in my earlier post, but I made my first sale on the 12th of Jan, which is 3.5 months after I joined WA.
I'm thrilled! This is serious proof that this stuff really works!
For anyone interested in what I've done, all of these sales are for one vendor (padded underwear) that I promoted in these posts below. In case you are interested in the mechanics and trying to break down why these might have worked, I added my Keyword research data/stats above as well.
- Butt Shaping underwear for men
- target KW: "Butt padded underwear for men" (not sure why the URL doesn't match properly, I must have changed it accidentally - might fix up later to improve SEO, though it seems to be doing well despite this mistake).
- Traffic: 80
- QSR: 14
- Post length: 1929 words
- Current Google ranking: 17, (on page 2!)
- Butt padded underwear for women
- Target KW "butt padded underwear for women"
- Traffic: 79
- QSR: 10
- Post length: 2018 words
- Current Google ranking: 20 (page 2)
- Make your butt look good in a bikini (small reference to the product in there)
- Target KW: "make your butt look good in a bikini"
- Traffic: 5999
- QSR: 24
- Post length: 1561 words
- Current Google ranking: 9 (page 1)
Funnily enough, 4 out of 5 of the sales were for menswear. I haven't played around with link tracking too much yet so I can't give much more information than that, or how these people came across my page.
Now, in no way do I think that this is the best way to do it, and I think I have a lot of room for improvement - but at least you can have a look at what I've done so far and see that it actually works!
Again, I hope this inspires you all to keep at it! I feel like I'm on a roll here!

Just saw this post - congrats on keeping those sales rolling in. Finding weird niches within your niche is always fun :)
Omg what an awesome surprise! I can't be surprised unfortunately as I am constantly checking my affiliate accounts >_< lol I should follow your example.
Thanks! I do find that I get a bit disappointed if I check too often and there's no sales now! Getting used to this whole sale business!
Thank you so much for this post, it has been very inspiring and helpful to me. Especially how you've listed your keyword research. How on earth do you find keywords like this?? I mean, 5999 traffic and only 24 QSR!!!! The keywords I'm typically using are 17 Competition, 8 traffic. Or maybe 18 Competition, 24 traffic. (I use the WA Keyword tool). These are often very low traffic volumes as the keywords I find, looking for Low Hanging Fruit Keywords, often have low competition along with low traffic. How are you finding ones with low competition and such high traffic volumes??!
Hey Tim, sorry for the late reply! To be honest, though there is low QSR for that search term, I never see any traffic to that page (5999 traffic, 24QSR) via search engine - I'm not sure but maybe there are still a lot of search results for that term and I'm not ranking that well? Not sure how I find them - just lucked out I guess, and I think I am also lucky that my niche is somewhat obscure!
In my limited experience so far, I'm finding that even the keywords with low traffic rankings are still working surprisingly well for me, so don't discount them. But yes, the key seems to be looking for the low QSR as well.
Hmm... interesting.. Ok, I'll carry on researching keywords.. I'm struggling for content ideas at the moment which is a problem but hopefully soon I'll have a few ideas come to mind :)
Thanks Evelyn, now you get to say 'I told you so' (the good kind!)
Thanks so much for all your support back when I was doubting everything!
I will NOT say those words. Trust me I've been in your shoes more than once. That's what this community is here for. If we didn't have this community, I think we all would be gone and missing out on a good thing.
It's really surprising how well you can do with the low hanging fruit keywords! I'm loving this strategy so far and can't wait until things ramp up!
Wonderful news to hear!! Don't you just love searching for keywords with low competition and the traffic it brings in? :)

Well done!!
