Getting Started

The banner goes where I put it but there is no link in there. Thanks for any answers.

You want to copy the whole link and paste it into the text interface of your block editor, i.e., a custom HTML.

Thanks Abbie

You're welcome :) Please keep us updated on your progress.

There are 3 ways to get a banner from the website.
1. Direct Link
2. HTML
3. Download

1. The direct link is just that a direct link to the banner. It leads nowhere, it simply links to the banner.

2. The HTML contains the entire HTML code for your affiliate link and the banner. The HTML code must be added to your post from the WordPress editor by adding the "Custom HTML" block and then putting this HTML code inside the block.

3. The Download is simply downloading the banner to your desktop. It then becomes an "image" that you can add. When you add the image, you then add your affiliate link to the image.

Getting the banner is only half of the equation. The other half is adding your affiliate link.

Hope this helps.

Thanks MrDon I will give it a go.

Authoring & Writing Content
Updated

Hi there I am having trouble writing in site content is there any typing on computer courses that you could recommend as I don't have much skill in this area. Just basic stuff

Hi John
When we first start editing documents (a generic term for anything that needs our writing or editing attention) it takes some practice.
However, once familiar with one piece of software, others are much easier to understand and learn, although there are often differences.

So if you're a complete beginner, I recommend downloading a copy of the free LibreOffice, which is a little like the Microsoft Office set of products, except that it's completely free. Open a Writer page and simply practice/experiment by writing and formatting.
If you need more hints ... just ask.
:-)
Richard

Thanks Richard you are right it does take practice. Your advice
was very welcome. John

For future reference

If you edited a document in site content and published it, future edits has to be done in WordPress. Site content and WordPress work independently.

I'd place my images in a document in site content and publish it to my site. it will be added to my WordPress media library. Then delete the “temporary image” doc in site content so that it does not get indexed as well.

Thanks for your reply it was very helpful.

Hey John,

Here's Kyle video training on SiteContent: and there are a few more on SiteContent that others have created. See screen print below...

Hope you find this helpful.

Thanks Trish.

To put in paragraphs you just add an extra line by hitting the space bar.
If you want to write your post into a Word doc and then cut and paste onto Site Content you will highlight the text by holding down the right hand button on your mouse or pad and use your pointer to hover over the highlight and click on copy then go into Site content and put your cursor at the beginning and click to paste.

Perhaps Google typing courses?

Lily

Thanks Lily very basic stuff I know but I’ve got to start somewhere. John.

I hope it helped John.
Is there anything else you need to know?
Lily 😁🎶

Best thing id suggest to you John... is go straight to Youtube there'll courses you can easily follow on there.
