MAKING MONEY FROM HOME

We live in the age of revolutions. The food industry is being revolutionised as are health, education, renewable energy, finances, politics, relationships and most of all communication. The Internet has revolutionised the way we communicate, think, read, develop ideas, do business and promote our values and politics. However, the majority of us are still stuck in that old way of doing things: the way we were brought up, the values we had drummed into us and the way we made money. Most of us are still in survival mode working a nine to five job five days a week and then taking work home to juggle with family and household needs. Yet at the end of each week we are still scraping the barrel wondering how we will pay the rent, the mortgage, the electricity bill and so on. This way of being is not living – it is existing.

I lived this life for longer than I care to remember and after spending the final ten years of my working life, working a 96-hour week just to keep abreast of the job demands, I knew I was slowly dying. I was so exhausted that I had to pull over when driving home to have a little catnap in my car seat so I did not fall asleep at the wheel. I felt desperate and in spite of the hours I worked, the job just got bigger and bigger with no end in sight. I was lucky. I did not suffer from some horrible disease to forcibly put a stop to it all. Whilst my health had suffered and I was at the top of a slippery slope to doomsday, I was still at a point where I could do something to improve my few ailments. Rest and sleeping and pottering around in my garden would have solved the problem, but when you are caught up on the rat wheel you cannot see the wood for trees. And then fate took over.

I lost my job. I won’t go into why and how but suffice to say that this event nearly destroyed me. I sank into a deep depression only alleviated by heart thumping anxiety about what I would do to earn some money and survive. I was not in my first flush of youth so to speak, but at the peak of my mature years. I was at an age when most people are either planning to retire or have already retired, but this was not an option for me. I found myself broke, at an age when most people are bouncing their grandchildren on their knees and planning the big trip.

I spent several years dealing with huge amounts of stress and with life changing events that were beyond my control, but impacted on me in a disastrous way. Fortunately, I am at heart an optimist. After suffering for a number of years from extreme anxiety, enormous stress, and massive financial challenges, I decided I had had enough. I remembered the book called “The Secret” which I had read over a decade before. I hunted it down and re read it in an afternoon. That galvanized me into action. I thought – well I may be down but I am not out. The saying “The Older the Chicken the Better the Soup” is going to be my motto. This old chicken is going to make fabulous soup!

As soon as I changed my mind, stopped feeling sorry for myself and focused on what I wanted to achieve with the rest of my life, good stuff started happening. Opportunities seemed to jump out at me from everywhere I looked. My impulsive nature kicked into gear again and I was off and running. I looked at every single opportunity out there and signed up to a few that went nowhere.

I took a deep breath and thought about what I wanted and what I did not want. My wants were fairly straightforward and similar to what the majority of people I have met also want. In a nutshell they are:

  • I want to generate wealth from home or anywhere I happen to be in the world.
  • I do not want to engage in face to face selling eg MLM etc – I want to generate wealth online.
  • I want to generate enough money to buy freedom of choice and lifestyle.

Having a home based business that only takes a few hours a week to run is extremely appealing. It will give me time and money to pursue my other great interest and love, natural health and wellbeing.

After searching endlessly and experimenting with various products, I found Wealthy Affiliate. This company is all that I dreamed of. I can generate wealth online, I can help others find a way to earn money and I can pursue my passion for health and well-being. The best part is the training, which is not only simple enough for this non-techie to follow, but that it comes with an incredibly supportive community in the Wealthy Affiliate network.

Joining Wealthy Affiliate has already helped me develop and promote my other online business and given me skills that I never dreamed I would be able to get.

Jill - I like your determination, no doubt, from the discipline of your life. Now life meets you on your own terms. Your blog title is totally positive compared to part of my life I describe as "rooster one day, feather duster the next".. I am sure you have yarns to spin for an eternity.

I do indeed - as most people do. My 'yarns' as you put it will form the basis of my blogs! Thanks for your comments.

Thank you for sharing your story with us; inspiring, motivational and uplifting! Wishing you all the best successes!

Great story Jill. That is where I am right now too. I was retrenched back in January, and no one seems to want to hire a more mature person. Working solidly on this business and it will all pay off.

Hello Jill. It is amazing how just changing our thought patterns can propel us forward and open up new opportunities. Thank you for sharing and encouraging us with your story. Best wishes Robin.

What a fabulous tagline... I completely with everything you've written... I need to get myself a tagline...

Wonderful to read this! I am nearly 74 and in dire straits financially. I have a good job ( lucky me at this time of life !), but I am so, so tired. WA looks like it might be the solution. I so relate to what you say!

Hi Calypso - good to hear from you. Give this all you've got. Its time to have some space and fun! Best wishes to you and keep in touch!

A great blog Jillingworth. I understand the desperation as I went through a similar experience which led to not only one MLM company but 3. They were not for me!! However, it was an MLM that introduced me to The Secret when it was first published. That little book taught me to change my thinking which has led me to where I am today.

The great thing is that you know that you now have the best of the best when it comes to Affiliate Marketing training. You are in a wonderful place here, with fantastic support.

I look forward to reading all the good things that you will continue to generate, including your websites.

I thoroughly enjoyed reading your story and your journey with all the ups and downs that go along with it. I too have ran the rat race and worked two full time jobs only to have nothing to show for it. You are right - WA can help change that for all of us. :)
