Writer's Block Inspired a Great Song!

Between contacting the flu bug (taking me down) and falling into a dry spell from blogging due to a lack of writing inspiration and inactivity, you may have noticed I just have not been my usual self here in almost two weeks.

I have gone through a dry period of blogging we refer to as writer's block. A side effect of this is that my ranking has dropped. But there is a silver lining for every dark cloud Ladies and Gents.

My writer's block inspired a great song!

Create Great Content from Writer's Block

Yes, you can indeed create great content from writer's block, and flip that negative into a positive.

Rationalize such down-spiraling as we may. It often goes something like this.

We involuntarily get sick (like in my case) or we get busy elsewhere in life, which causes us to lose energy. This lack of energy often stops us in dead in our tracks, or at the least creates a distraction, which contributes toward a loss of focus in our writing. Such lack of focus makes us lose momentum, and very soon we are in deep.

Often writers first need to hit rock bottom before they can produce content again. This can take a longer period of time.

However, there is a much better way, a method I use for turning every downside into an upside.

How did I do it?

Focus Your Attention Elsewhere

I turned my focus of attention elsewhere.

In my case, I accomplished something I hadn't done in quite a while: my lack of inspiration toward blogging translated into writing a great song!

And it's a song I can be proud of that is also highly marketable.

Place your focus on something fun and creative you haven’t done in a while. For me it was about taking out my guitar while in bed, and working out a great original song.

Both musically and lyrically.

For you, it might be writing in a different medium, taking up a fun arts and crafts project, crocheting, playing or coaching a sport, doing community service, or any other creative endeavor that you enjoy, or once used to enjoy.

The Morale: When you lose focus, focus on something new and refreshing.

7 Tips to Mitigate Writer’s Block

So here is one great lesson folks, if you ever have writers block for blogging, here are my 7 tips:

  • Focus your creative attention away from blogging
  • Write about your writers block
  • Write about what you gained (or lost) by having writers block
  • Turn your writers block into a song, a visual work, or another beautiful creation
  • Use your time while in writers block to conduct valuable research in your niche toward collecting valuable future content
  • Work on your websites and increasing your content marketing knowledge
  • Do something completely unrelated and FUN that can be useful in the future

Go back and make a habit of completing these 7 tips, you will feel a renewed and refocused energy, and will be on well on your way out of writer’s block.

I hope you found my own story of dealing with writers block and 7 tips useful, and will use them as a way to mitigate the negative effects of writers block.

Please feel free to comment, as they are always welcomed.

Cheers,

Kaju

Great tips, very useful!
Best,
Marcus

Excellent Marcus, Thanks!
Use these tips to break down those walls:)

The old writer’s block we all struggle with it at times, good suggestions thanks.

Fabulous, I hope you use these suggestions S!

Thanks for this Kaju. This is great inspiration for me. I'm going through that cycle right now.

It's great that you can turn to song writing to reignite that creative flow.

I bet this has happened to some the more prominent song writers too. By turning to poetry, blogging ect.... I'd submit that these artists have likely used this type of philosophy to break that wall down and write more great songs.

I'm glad I read this. I believe you've layed out a concise 7 point protocol that can be applicable to any type of writer or artist.

This one is going in my bookmarks.

Thanks again with gratitude and many blessings, Brad

Wonderful Brad, yes it ave hit it spot on; many writer's who are also musicians can turn to song writing to reignite that creative flow. Yes, this philosophy is a great way to write new great songs.

This 7 step process can be used by non-musicians as well, find something creative you enjoy but haven't done in a while.

Thank you for bookmarking this one, and I hope you will go back to it whenever you need to break down those walls.

Kaju

Glad you are feeling better Kaju!

Kaju

Kaju good to read you are doing better, thanks for sharing this post

My pleasure Juan, better every day!

Hello Kaju,

I am sorry that you haven't been 100% the last couple weeks, hopefully you are now quickly improving.

I think it's great and we can turn a negative into a positive and it sounds like you have definitely achieved this Kaju, which is fantastic! Picking up a guitar sounds like a great way to refresh yourself. I used to pick my guitar up every day, but literally stopped playing for several years, maybe it was because I was dating my now wife! This is also had an effect on my Internet marketing earnings, but don't tell her that I told you!!! (I hope she doesn't read this)!!! I have actually just started picking it up again, I need to get back into practice, I used to really enjoy playing.

If I'm working in front of my laptop all day I do think that it is important to take regular breaks, a blue taking a walk or picking up your guitar is a fantastic way to regain energy.

Incidentally, Kaju, what type of guitar do you play, I guess you may have several. The photograph shows a nice array of guitars, I am pretty sure they are all yours!

Thank you for the great blog post Kaju, very inspiring.

Have a great weekend.

Roy

I learn something new everyday here Roy, my fellow musician friend! We definitely understand each other, as you know playing the guitar us very therapautic, and writing a great song is pure elation!

Happy to hear you are enjoying your instrument once again. I own a Guild D35 ('78", a Fender Strat ('89), BC Rich Mockingbird ('79), a white Parker Fly, and a Yamaha Classical. I wish I owned the guitars on that wall!

Let's get to playing more during breaks, it really helps our writing flow!

K

Hello Kaju,

I hear you about learning something every day, it's amazing how we never stop learning and it's refreshing to learn something that we have a passion about, whether it be Internet marketing or playing a musical instrument.

I am really enjoying playing my guitar again Kaju, although feeling very rusty, although with practice I'm sure I can rapidly improve. I used to play in a large church which for me playing in a band situation really helped to move me forward quickly. They were also good musicians which is a huge bonus and was a huge help to move me forward. We were very privileged to have Bill Legend in the band, a very humble man who was the drummer with Mark Bolan and T Rex. I need to get back to playing in a band again! Bill did use to make me laugh in a good way, as I felt he had that Spinal Tap touch!

You have a good collection of guitars Kaju, I believe that "Guild" guitars are handmade and a beautiful instrument? I have always wanted a Gibson SG but felt that I may be disappointed as I wouldn't make the same sound like Angus Young! One day, maybe it will happen!

I do hope you're feeling better Kaju.

Enjoy your Sunday.

Roy

That's awesome about Bill, I love Gibson SG's too! There's is nothing like playing with a band, Enjoy Roy!!

Thank you Kaju, I hope one day I'll have my genuine US Gibson guitar! I hear you Kaju, regarding playing in a band, it never fails to amaze me what a great sound a few instruments can make!

I hope that you are feeling better Kaju.

Enjoy your day.

Roy

Thanks Roy, the band talk is definitely music to my ears!

Good morning Kaju, I hear you, totally! I know the feeling 100% if people start talking to me about playing in a band, my ears prick up! If they start talking about English football, I go to sleep! Basically, because I am one of the few people in the UK who has absolutely no interest in football whatsoever! Political speech over! Lol!

Have a great day Kaju.

Roy

LOL! Love It!! Thanks for making me smile today Roy:)!!

That's good Kaju, it's always good to laugh and smile.

I hope that your day is going well and your health has returned to normal.

Roy

Thanks Roy, taking longer than expected but getting there:)

Hello Kaju,

I'm glad you are feeling better, sometimes these things can take longer than we expect, I think maybe it's her body is telling us that we need to rest, possibly.

Have a really good day and I hope you quickly return to normal.

Roy

Appreciate it my friend:)

Get well soon my friend and ready to hear the new song. Having the gift of gab, I am never "at a loss for words" and in my niche there is endlessly changing information for content writing. But bookmarking this just in case ever needed.

Thanks

Mark

Excellent Mark, we are fortunate ones to be blessed with the "gift of gab" (lol!). Still occasionally, we all fall into writer's block, but there are many ways out of it. Thanks for the bookmark!

Kaju

Great ideas Kaju! I usually spend time with my little girl and that usually spawns something in my head. It’s funny how the simpler things seem to inspire us.

I hope you’re feeling better and I also wish you the best!
