Does the Amazon Affiliate Program Work?

You're thinking of getting a start at affiliate marketing. As Amazon has the best known affiliate program out there, you naturally ask, "Does the Amazon Affiliate Program work?"

Yes. Here's my first successful month with the Amazon Affiliate Program, way back in June 2011:

So, that's just under $1000 earned in my first full month with a brand new site from scratch.

BUT there are some important caveats here.

I had been trying to do affiliate marketing for 12 years before this month and hadn't made a single cent.

Why?

I had never built up traffic and had never given people a reason to buy through me until I started the site that finally generated my first affiliate commissions.

And even then, I just got lucky after 12 years. I stepped into an underserved niche: bitcoin. I bought a "low-hanging" keyword as my domain name: spendbitcoins.com. And I googled "spend bitcoins" and posted in the forum that was then the #1 result.

Three years later, and I know a lot more about marketing online and I've made a lot more money marketing online in ways other than Amazon as well.

But I realized recently that I still had a lot to learn. I searched for an affiliate training program and found Wealthy Affiliate, the website where you are now.

I've been working through the lessons very diligently and do you know what I've found? I've found that my success came from those lucky accidents.

After 12 years, I finally did a few things right by accident, and that's how I was finally able to quit my last job nearly three years ago.
