Amazon Affiliate Marketing for Beginners - It all starts here
One of the simplest affiliate programs is the Amazon Associates program. This blog is about Amazon affiliate marketing for beginners. And it works for beginners. Here was my first successful month:
First, what makes the Amazon associates program one of the simplest ways to get into affiliate marketing? It is the fact that Amazon has hundreds of thousands of products. And in nearly any category you can imagine.
No matter what your niche, you will likely find great products to share on Amazon.
Many affiliate marketers stress that Amazon's payouts are quite low. Compared with other options this is true.
However, the sheer volume of products on Amazon makes Amazon affiliate marketing for beginners simple. A great way to start. It means you can find almost any product to share. And all in one place.
So. How do you start?
You have taken the first step. By being right here on the Wealthy Affiliate platform.
If you are not yet a member, click the green "Create a Free Account" button to join. It's on the top right.
This will give you access to 20 free lessons on web marketing.

The thing that held me back was the lack of quality content targeting what Kyle calls "low-hanging-fruit" keywords.

Bummer, wish this would work for me but Amazon dumped Arkansas affiliates. I personally order from them all the time and love it. I'm also a Prime member - the two day shipping is wonderful. Now the Amazon Pantry is working out for me. Ordering household supplies and having them delivered right to my door.
My biggest issue with Amazon Associates is their cookie settings. It is bad enough that the percentages are so low, but I can deal with that since they are such a trusted authority site. However, the 24 hour cookie is total BS and makes me feel like I am potentially providing them with advertising and sales for free. I would think they could give their affiliates at least a week, right? I think the key with Amazon affiliate links is to target "buyer" keywords and catch them later in the sales process. If you catch them in the beginning, you usually won't see a return. I know some people have been very successful with Amazon, I just haven't quite figured it out and for my current site, I can't decide if I want to work amazon into my affiliate links. But hey, maybe I'll give it a shot on some new content today and test the results. All the best!
You actually get paid for anything they add to their cart during the 24 hour period if they make the purchase during the next 90 days. So it is better to use an "Add to cart" button than a button that just sends them to the product landing page.

I didn't know that. Definitely solid advice. I would definitely want to at least create a call of action to add it to their cart, perhaps to ensure that the customer can hold that price? Thanks for the tip! I may give Amazon a go on my next review
I only learned that there is an add to cart option myself last week! Always learning.
By the way, I don't think it holds the price as I've had notifications from Amazon that prices have changed for things in my cart.
Maybe the call to action could just be to add to their cart so they don't forget they want to buy it or something.
Good to now and another good suggestion. I have been pretty anti-amazon for a while now, but gotta keep an open mind I guess and see if it works before I completely knock it. I still don't like that they offer such a short period for affiliate cookies, but with the right strategy, I am sure it can still be profitable
Hey, if you're finding other affiliate programs work for you, there might be no reason to try Amazon. My main thing with them is how easy they make it for newbies.

Unfortunately They don't accept all states in their program, one of them is Missouri where I live. If anyone knows of a workaround for this I'd gladly join. Jon
They used to accept all states into the program. Until states started requiring a lot of paperwork from them as if affiliates were employees. Bloody governments.

Hi MBlack. It all depends. If you can find the products you need elsewhere and they pay higher commission, you don't need Amazon. It's really just a simple one-stop-shop which is what it makes it easy for beginners.

Not a fan of Amazon as they refused to ship items I wanted to Australia, so I dumped them and went to Fishpond.com.au
Absolutely the right move if Australians are your target audience (apart from the kindle store).
I live in Australia as well. Really sucks that Amazon is all over the world except here down under.
We REALLY miss out on their subscription service, which allows you to set and forget stuff you want delivered on a regular basis, such as razors, shampoo, etc... A real time saver for people who want to keep their head clear and on business.
But I digress. I agree, Amazon is not great to promote to Australian customers.
