Overwealmed and in my head too much?

This is seriously my first Blog ever, well, public one... I have another on a different site but never really did much with it. I'm not sure what I need to be blogging about, but, I'm just gonna put this out there....

I'm really loving it here at WA so much! Got myself a nice little following, and I'm following a lot of really cool people too. There is so much great information here as well as oodles of training. I'm really excited about everything that I am going to learn here. So.... here goes....

What I am concerned with at this time is my Niche(s) because I have such a huge range of interests. Really hard to narrow it down with one main one right now. They range from helping other people making an online residual income (ie: helping other single parents to stay home with their kids as well and work full time from a computer) to Personal Development, Health and Wellness and Inspirational & Motivational. I also want to have a resource and recommending products & pages as well as centers too. Do I have to have a main page? Like the Blog and can I branch off from there? I really would like all this to go together like pieces of a puzzle eventually. My vision is a tree (the main page) and all these other little branches are my other interests and help information sites. Or would that be taking on too much? I'd also like to have my own products on the pages too to sell along with these different niches as well, that and affiliate links. Or do these Niches need to be all separate? I know it's going to all come together as I do my training each day. I know I am just getting a head of myself too.

So... Am I getting ahead of myself wanting to "see" the whole picture now? lol I'm just concerned that if I start with my one niche now how am I going to piece it all together nicely to "flow?" Ok, this is really weird to be publishing what's going on in my brain thoughts haha!

Whatever you start with, you can make what you want it to be as long as your keep your content focused on the visitor. You want them to stay and return, often. ^_~

That's a good point Caylynn, Thank you! :) Cheers!

From what you describe about your various ideas I think it is definitely viable to have a large "authority" type site, perhaps based on different areas of the Lifestyle niche. With such a variety of interests you should find it fairly easy to choose one as a starter point and I like the way of visualising it as a tree.

Try one niche or subject as it's main core rather than trying to figure out too much at once, then if it does not prove to be successful as you had hoped you can always bring one of the other subjects to the fore. Introduce other subjects, or niches, one by one and you will realise if it becomes to overwhelming long before it becomes a problem.

Thanks so much for the advice Gary! :) I'm starting to get the picture of not overwhelming myself for sure now :D Cheers! :)

sounds to me like you need to own your own domain.....

haha, I know right? Thanks Mikey :) I do have a bunch of domains that I've bought, now to decide which one to use frist. ;)

If you follow the training here you will start with a Wealthy Affiliate niche. This will teach you how to develop alternate websites that will bring in income.

Yes and they are great trainings indeedy! ;) Thanks

Well, I'll tell ya' Lisa, as long as you've completed all the of the training here and followed those instructions.... yeah, the world is your oyster and more than likely there is someone out there that has taken your concept or idea and made it work. There's no reason you can't mix affiliate marketing and selling your own products on the same website. It's totally up to you to create the content that will draw the readers into your arena. Truly, it's up to you!

Thanks Randy! I know as I press through the trainings here everything will become much more clearer too. :) I'm looking forward to all the pieces of the puzzle just falling into place :) As I believe that everything that's meant to be, will :) Cheers!

Picking your first niche is trick for sure. When I was deciding, I thought to my self "What niche(s) can I comfortably write 10 articles/blogs/pages about in one month". If you choose a topic that you can write about without having to do tons of research on, the less frustrating, and time consuming it can be to post regularly.

Keep in mind, you have to start somewhere, and you can create as many websites as you want moving forward. That is the beauty of it! The sky truly is the limit.

One of the common messages I have received during my short time here, is that you just need to get started somewhere and by overthinking or trying to make it absolutely perfect, you are just putting off actually doing it.

Maybe you could compare 2 different niches and let the keyword tool do the rest?

Good luck! I know you will do great. You will never be bored with all the wonderful Ideas you have!

Thanks Krysten! You have some Great Points that I will truly keep in mind! :) Thanks again so much! :) Cheers Darlin :)

I felt the same way Jedi. I blogged about it and its called Success is Easy If... So I can def relate to you and am going through the same questions in my mind. My thoughts are to do the small things in order and eventually your big tree will form.

Yay! I like that Scott, I will have to check out your blog :) Thanks so much for getting through my blog :) Cheers!

I am doing the same thing and I remember trying to put it in my head how it was going to work. sometimes I think I took too much on. other times I know they all go together. You see I understand LOL. Boy i feel ya. : O)

I'm just struggling a bit to find a balance, but this is a great lesson for me. It's interesting how life is hey? I am really being mindful of this that I don't take too much on. Hang in there (waytobeein2013)!!! We Can DO It! ;) I like your nickname :D and it would make a good domain name ;)

Hi Jedi, I know how you feel. I'm having the same thoughts. Lots of interests. I don't see why we can't have one website, with different pages as long as those pages contain similar topics. If they are closely related in the same niche, our readers will be interested The one area we do have to be careful in is this....

Don't spread yourself too thin. You don't want to get caught up having to blog goodness knows how much, because your website is too busy, with too many "different" topics. You would need to have a couple of pages virtually static on info. In other words info that may be of interest to your readers but NOT something that will take MEGA TIME to maintain as much as the main niche on your site. Set a page up that you can just forget about most of the time.

Many sites have a ton of pages, about this and that, connected to their main page. I'll bet they have SEVERAL people maintaining the blog posts, and keeping everything up to date. Also they probably added all these pages over time as they got more experienced or paid someone to do it for them.

For me, starting out, it's better to keep it small. Then again you may want to spend a lot of time maintaining your site. If you know unquestionably, yes you will do this, and have considered maintaining comments sections and updating info as required etc, then go for it.

JediMom, I'm not an expert by far, but when I read your post, so much resonated with me. There is nothing wrong with seeing the whole picture, but for me I've got to keep saying baby steps and take it slow and I still get confused. Goodness knows what state I'd be in if I just went for it all. Gotta laugh at myself sometimes.

I've faith we'll figure it out. To our success. Cheers!

Thanks Annie! Whew! I'm glad I'm not feeling like the only one now. I mean I'm sure people do feel as we do, but it's nice to hear from others too! :) So thank you for taking the time to read my post. It really means a lot! :)

I have become very good at multitasking and I'm really struggling with picking just "one" favorite you know? haha I totally hear what you are saying about picking one and not spreading myself out too thin. You made a great point, that I would have to "maintain" the comments and this would be very hard and very time consuming tackling many blog/pages for sure.

I suppose this too is the part where I need to just "breathe" and slow down do the lessons and focus on one thing at a time (oh I'm having a hard time with 'shiny objects" too) haha because a part of me just wants to just "dive in" and do it ALL ;) So it is all good this new this new learning. ;) I know right, laughing is good! :) and We Will figure this out! Many Blessings to all :)

First, that's great you have a big picture like you do. I think you can defiantly put them all together and have them connected. And really, no, I don't think you are getting ahead of yourself to see the whole picture now. That is what great people do. You need to see the big picture and plan it out, then go in and do the detail work.

I would say really sit down and write out how you would connect them all, what you need for each one, what you are wanting to add for each one. Then figure out what one you like the most and start with that one, build it up, and then you will know what you need to do next because you have your plan laid out.

Now, because I am who I am, I am going to relate this to horses. When I get a horse, I want that horse to be safe on the trail, doesn't spook at much, can canter slowly, I can move their 5 body parts (Head and Neck, Poll, Shoulders, RIb Cage, Hindquarters) Have collection.

Now you don't attack all this at the same time, let alone the same day. But you do know where you are going and wanting the horse to look like at the end. (Like you do with all the connections between your websites) You pick 4 exercises, and teach those until they are good, then you move on to 4 more. You do that on the ground, then you add the saddle. Let the horse get use to that for a week, then you get on. You start with building a gas peddle and a brake. You don't worry about steering, or cruise control, or anything else expect building a gas peddle and a brake at this moment. Once those are set, then you go onto building a steering wheel and a cruise control. After those comes more advanced things like collection, more direction control, shoulder control, etc.

Like I said, I would just choose one to start with. And start building.

So it's going to be built one step at a time, but have do need a overall vision, otherwise you wont know where you are going. Great job and keep it up!!!

Thanks very much Sky and for taking the time to read my first blog here :) Wow that was cool, I love how you used your example of analogy with the horses, really quite clever! :) I enjoyed very much what you had to say and will keep every bit of it in mind! Thank you, Cheers! :)

You're very welcome. I never get dull to people liking my stuff, lol. And you'll learn sooner rather than later that I will relate probably everything to horses one way or the other. But it is a great analogy I thought.
