Thinking about quitting.

I need some encouragement to continue! My subscription is due in about a week's time and I am seriously considering cancelling it due to not having done any work on my website for a couple of months (my Dad passed away and the Christmas break) because I have lost my enthusiasm and the hope that I will ever be able to make any money from this project. I don't really want to give up as I have spent so many hours creating my website so far, but it's now so far behind. Comments please!

So sorry for your tremendous loss, Jackie! Oh, so sorry!

Given time you will possibly think about how proud he would be if you were to become self employed and earning enough, one day to support yourself on this. This does take concentration and certainly give yourself time to grieve.

I know this same loss. It has been more than 10 years. My reaction was to be devastated deeply.

A few months later I was going back to college and obtained a job that my dad never knew I had. He would have been so proud! Even now, I think about what he might think of what I am doing now. It is hard to know. He was very accomplished yet not self-employed. He did own a local newspaper in a very tiny town, but he had his day job as the Public Relations / Marketing Director of a major hospital.

So, essentially, I would be the first person in my family to become self-employed successfully. I have moments of doubt too, but those in my family who have tried to become self employed did not have the support and classes we have!

You will know what is best for you, in a bit. I wish you all the comfort of knowing his love is with you, especially if you were close. I feel this all of the time, it never stops comforting me!

I also wish you success whatever you choose to do. This may be best for you, it may not be.

Warm regards and prayers,

Lynne

Making a decision during an emotional time is not a great idea. Our minds wonder on too many things around us. think about it and focus, you take care and which ever decision you make will be the right decision for this journey in your life.

Hi Jackie.
Sorry to hear of your loss. My sincere condolences. The discouragement and lack of motivation you're feeling at this time is pretty normal. Allow yourself that healing time but not at the expense of your fab website that you've put so many hours into already. Leaving WA and this supportive community won't make you feel any better . This is definitely not the right time to be making such big decisions which you may regret later down the road. Don't be so hard on yourself. We all have difficult times. Take one day at a time and try not to overthink things. Your website won't suffer if you take a month or two off to heal. We're here for you. Feel free to check in and air your ups and downs anytime. We're all human with emotions.

I am sorry to hear about your father's passing. No one is ever prepared for that. I pertainly understand you discouragement, but because there is not standard for where you should be at any given time with your website and business, I think its reasonable to to begin where you left off and move forward. All the best in any case.

I am sorry for the loss of you Dad, Jackie .. I remember that time myself and it took a while to work through.

I have looked at your website and you have accomplished a massive amount in a short time. And have learned from everyone else here that it is a minimum 12 month project to start seeing results.

Here's the thing, motivation is a choice .. some days we are motivated and inspired, other days we are not. The question is: Do you really want to create something for yourself and realise that extra income? If the answer is yes then just stay focused and keep moving forward. I have found that motivation can often be a outcome of doing the activity.

Cheers, William.

Far behind what? Sorry to hear about your father, so you took a break, time to move on.

Hi JaxT, I'm very sorry to hear about the loss of your dad. I can completely understand how your enthusiasm to do anything, let alone this, would have diminished. One of the things that I have learned and really like about this project with Wealthy Affiliate is that it can be anything you want it to be. I haven't been to your website so I don't know what it's about, but maybe you create another one geared towards helping and comforting those that have lost a loved one or even more specifically a parent. Could be a bit therapeutic. Just a thought. I wish you all the best in whatever you decide and whatever that is, just remember you're not alone.

Jay

I do not think you can ever get behind on working on your website. Just continue where you left off :)

My condolences on the loss of your father Jackie. There is so much happening at Christmas that it's easy to get distracted and with your dad on your mind, I completely understand how working on your website could take a backseat. Perhaps over time you might find the enthusiasm again, but that is a decision that only you can make.
Best regards,
Shawn

Hello Jaxt ! First sorry for yout dad demise. On other hand it is natural that we stay alive as long as GOD wish. But GOD wish is also for the living to make progress for people like you. That's why my advice will be not to quit after so many enthusiasm you have already shown. Try to follow, ask questions and do some hard work. Thank you for accepting my words.

Thank you for your wise words Mohunlall
