Get QSR - Even when Jaaxy is down or slow
Hey guys, so I've seen many questions being asked regarding the Jaaxy QSR scores not showing, and instead only seeing "Retry".
The thing is that QSR is actually just the number of competing sites on Google for any given keyword. And you can easily figure this out manually.
Granted, the beauty of Jaaxy is that it's done for us automatically and saves us a ton of time...
But when Jaaxy is struggling, you can still get your QSR values with the following steps (super easy):
1. Go to google.com
Make sure you are on the .com extension. If it re-directs you to your country's Google, check the bottom-right corner where it says "Use google.com". Click on it.
2. Enter your keyword inside double qutation marks.
The same keyword that you would put into your search bar here on WA or Jaaxy, type that into Google. Make sure you use double quotation marks around your keyword, though.
3. Find the last page.
Scroll to the bottom of the search results page. Click on the last possible page number. Keep clicking until you've reached the last page possible.
Note 1: The page numbers that you see before you reach the last page are incorrect. You will NOT know what's the final page until you have actually clicked it.
Note 2: The lessons here on WA teach us that we should use keywords with a QSR of under 100. So if you reach page 100 and it keeps loading more, you can stop. What I do, when doing this manually, I generally stop at 50 or max 60 pages.
4. Now you have your QSR score.
Hope that helps guys! Good luck and keep up the great work everybody.
EDIT:
One more thing: Since checking manually takes a bit more time, I suggest you do Kyle's "ABC Soup" strategy beforehand:
- Type in your keyword
- Wait for the Google suggestions to pop up under your searchbar.
- Take the keyword that is: (i) longtail, (ii) makes grammatical sense, (iii) and where your head starts spinning with ideas what to write.
Then do the manual QSR technique above!
(Nothing worse than checking a keyword manually, only to find out afterwards there's a better longtail version one.)

This is a neat trick. I usually try out my keywords in Google but not within quotation marks. I'll try that out. Thanks!
This is brilliant! Thank you James... Every day is a school day.
I have learnt something from reading this, thank you for posting it.

Yay! Thanks for letting me know :) My blog is still pretty dead (too new) but hearing I helped someone out, that feels amazing!
Thanks for this share James, appreciate it:)
This is rather time-consuming apparently, but if this is the only way I will try it.
Or just do the Alphabet Soup technique
Yeah it's really best to do it with longtail keywords! Else you'll end up wasting a lot of time going through 100 pages of keywords like "dog jackets" and "accounting for freelancers" :D
Thanks for sharing James and it really helped. When I did my keyword search with Jaaxy this morning, I thought it was due to slow internet connection here in my country that it kept on saying "retry" without knowing that twas global problem until I read your blog.
Whenever I have doubts about my internet speed, I go to YouTube first. If that loads decently fast, anything else should also >.<
