I am based in the UK but would like to sell a product in the US via a US-based affiliate program. Do you know if I can sign up to US affiliate program? If so, I guess my next q

Yes, you can sign up for US-based affiliate programs. You will need to look at each program to see how they pay. It is usually in the FAQ section.

If the programs uses PayPal, you're good to go but there could be other methods, such as a direct payment transfer to your bank, or an e-wallet service that enables you to transfer from the e-wallet to your bank account. ~Jude

Couldn't there be made an exception for those internatonal who are with Amazon USA. I have had troubles in the pase here in Europe with accepting US checks. I would rather have paypal but it wasn't mentioned on their site that I could see. Does anybody know ? I am in Belgium

@friendlybf - Amazon will not pay with Paypal.

Paypal is owned by eBay, which is a competitor of Amazon.

The last time I checked - and this was a while go - Amazon was paying direct deposits to bank accounts in Belgium and the UK but only for Amazon sellers, not for Amazon affiliates. ~Jude

Well hopefully they will do that. I have had troubles with US checks here before.

Sorry, I should have been clearer. Amazon will only pay by direct deposits in Belgium if you are an Amazon "seller" - not if you are an Amazon affiliate or associate. ~Jude

Amazon will send you a 1099 at the end of the year, also not sure if it applies but I do a lot of traveling around the US and Amazon actually sent me a sale total for items that I have to pay takes on now

You can use amazon in fact you can just about sign up to any affiliate program many of them pay be paypal when your not in their country .. there are still many good programs go have a look at affiliate window, amazon, commission junction, and their is click bank also check out retails as places like walmart have their own programs

THanks so much for your help Katie, you are a treasure!

hope it is of help just let us know if you need anymore, I am in the uk to so that is what is great about this it is global

What sort of product are you going for? I'm in the UK - I signed up to the US amazon, which is no problem - but yes they send a cheque. But places like clickbank just pay direct, many pay direct in dollars via paypal - which then of course becomes pounds for us. Paypal is the easy way to go.

Hi Nat, the products are diverse but the fact that you have tread this path before me helps tremendously. PayPal it is then! Thanks.

I promote books and use Amazon affiliate. I have a plugin called Amazon Link Engine that directs my visistors to their local amazon from may US links.
here's a blog i did recently:

Brilliant! That's a better outcome than I could have expected. Thanks for your time on this. You get a big LIKE from me

You're welcome! Best of luck.

Hi folks, I am in the same situation. I am located in Belgium and I am both an Amazon Associate in the USA as well as in the UK, France, Germany, Italy, Spain, .... except Japan, China, India, Mexico and Brasil. My selling base is the US so the prices will be in dollars.
Now, I use the plug-in WooCommerce that works with geotargeting. Which means if I have a French customer that wants a book that is not avaialble in the USA he will be sent to his own local Amazon site and can pay in euro. Great isn't it. Amazon USA only has the option to pay in cheques for the internationals, most of the others I think have paypal or direct debit possibilities. For Amazon USA, as of the moment you have earned 100 $ they will send you a cheque. Because of the fact we are international the cheque fee will be waived. Is that an answer to your questions ? If not, let me know.

I have the same question. I just started a few days, and I am based in The Netherlands. Hopefully we will get some feedback.

it depends what kind of product and program. I'm located in Belgium and I promote US based affiliate programs through Clickbank or Amazon. They don't mind that you're not a US citizen.

For some programs you'll need to fill in some forms about taxes, but others don't care either.

So you'll just have to find out which ones allow it and which ones don't.

I hope this answered your question?

Nearly...how about payment?

Payment is usually via PayPal and you can receive in different currencies but I recommend keeping it in US - you may use it and then not deal with the exchange rates. I am in Canada but take three currencies - but mostly always US$

With Amazon you can have them hold the money until it reaches $100 and then they will mail out a US$ cheque. Or you can take it in Amazon gift coupons.

I agree, Clickbank and Amazon are two good places to start.
