My success shortcut
For all of my friends who have been following and mentoring me, I am sorry for my absence over the past two weeks. Things have been a bit hectic. So, how do you like the headline? After reading so much of the advice of Kyle and others, I felt that there had to be a way of jump-starting my business. Thus began my quest to find a shortcut to wealth. Being blessed with capital from my cashed 401K, I set out to create cash-flow.
After exhaustive keyword research, niche research and finding seemingly great offers, I purchased 21 domains and hosted them with a reseller account. I then hired 10 contractors to write content, do SEO and any white hat marketing they could to get traffic. Many people do this, so I wanted to give an incentive. Any net profit from sites they produce would be theirs for 30 days after the "go live" of their site. Well, it didn't work. I do now have 14 professionally designed sites that are gorgeous, but no traffic. There is the occasional visitor who leaves comments every day or two, but I don't know how they are finding the sites, since they are invisible to Google.
Kyle says it over and over, and now I know it is the truth. There is no shortcut to success. The sites will eventually make money, but there is no fast forward button. There are also other problems associated with hiring contractors. First, no matter how well you explain what you want, it will not be what you envisioned upon completion. Second, no matter how aggressive your performance bonus, the success of the endeavor will never be as important to them as it is to you. Third, You don't learn anything about the business. Now that I've had my little experiment, I've got to go back and learn how to do things that I didn't want to do. Finally, you never know how quickly you can go through a lot of money until you have employees.
I am so hardheaded! Being an optimist, I just know that things will go my way. The thing is, when someone who has extensive experience tells you what to expect, you should probably listen to them. I believe in being positive, and the law of attraction, but this should be tempered with common sense. Finally, I leaned that you should start out doing everything yourself. You can't lead others if you don't know what you are doing. As the legendary Jim Rohn said "You can't hire someone else to do your pushups for you". Wishing you all the best...

Hey Lee, it's human nature to look for "shortcuts". I'm afraid that a lot of Members arrive after a long Golden Goose hunt, with a load of rancid turkeys in the bag to show for their efforts. However, look on the bright side, you haven't "wasted" tens-of-thousands of dollars on pointless scams like Empower Network or similar. Your "stock" has value, just that it'll need a little bit of hard work to bring to fruition. :) Rich.
Thanks Rich! Wise words. Yes, It is time to learn that the real "secret" of success is hard work and learning to perfect my craft.
Thank you for your comment. Yes, I seem to have found it necessary to relearn that simple fact.
I can so relate to your story. I have tried this many times with the same results. Some of us are just too hardheaded for our own good.
Amen sister! I have faith that we will eventually conquer this beast though. Hardheads take the hits better than average folks. Let's just keep on keeping on. We'll make it soon.
I can so relate to your situation. I too money from myine as well upon my retirement and used it to invest in my jewelry business. Once good thing is that I still have the inventory.
. Well, you have furthered your education. Now just pickup from here. You will no be HIGHLY motivated! Also, you are not alone.
Thank you very much for your comment and your empathy. It wasn't that bad for me. I put on the brakes before I lost control. How about your jewelry business? Was it a brick and mortar establishment? Do you have a site to sell your inventory? If you need help with that, please let me know.
Definetly learn and become very proficient yourself before doing any outsourcing. If you don`t, how will you know what works and what doesn`t beside what the PEOPLE YOU PAY tell you?
You are right. I learn slowly, but well. It was an interesting experience. Now it's time to get to work. Thank you for your comment.
Hang in there. I thought of doing the same thing, only in the sense of having someone write my content. But then it would not show my personality, and I am stubborn enough to see if I can learn to do it correctly, lol.-not that there is anything wrong with someone writing your content. Many people outsource their writing. I was going to have someone write mine, but but did not really have the money....so am doing it myself and learning as I go-though I need to improve a lot, but I am getting help from WA with that.
Don't be too hard on yourself, you just wanted to try something and see if it worked.
It will be exciting though to see what you come up with next-you seem like an extremely intelligent and motivated person. :)
Keep going for it!
I'm glad to see you back. Been wondering about you.
I think that is the best thing you could have done is to know to keep going. Most successful people have had several businesses fail before they get the one that makes it.
But the good news is that you have your websites up and running that you say are wonderful.
Thank you so much Skyhorse! Yes, I'm not quitting. I hope to spend much more time here at WA learning to do things the right way.
