Are You On My List?
The Comfort of Familiarity
Have you ever been part of an online community for so long that it feels like a second home? I can tell the affiliates who have been around for a while. They know people's government names.
The Identity of Affiliates
I have a running list of names that I keep handy so that I can address people by their real names instead of their usernames. Simone instead of Newme. Myra instead of Cherry Red. Rachele instead of Rcharinhp.
But it's not always easy to figure out who's who. Some usernames are obvious, like TheAbie and TheCatherine. But others have me stumped. Who is Feigner? Or FKelso? Or MTCandela? I had to be here for a while before I realized that Feigner is Phil and that FKelso is Fran (although I did call her Frank once, much to her amusement). And I only recently found out that MTCandela is Maria, and that West2000 is Susan.
I like this community. It's not just about making money. It's about making connections. It's about being able to ask for help when you need it and being able to offer help to others when they need it.
The Power of a NameSo, I am paying attention to how people sign their comments and their posts.
But, my list is incomplete, and I am left yearning for more. If you could lend me your aid, and share with me the missing pieces of this puzzle, I may no longer need to wait in anticipation for each new post or comment to reveal the name behind the words.
Who is who? or whom? Learning this will probably help other newcomers also!

Hi Hazel,
I'm Valerie, although my registered WA name is ValerieJoy. Joy is my second name! Some people call meVal, which is okay if that suits them. Shortening the name Valerie to Val is common practice both online and offline.
It's good to know you enjoy participating in the Wealthy Affiliate community. Keep up your excellent work!
LOL -- You have wandered into the WA maze. Isn't it fun? Perhaps we are not meant to learn someone's real name until we have been here long enough to find it unexpectedly. It's rather fun to find out someone is operating under a pseudonym. For example, (and I hope I don't get into trouble for this one) have you met 1Rudy1? He's a great guy -- and I accidentally learned his real name -- Hunter Fox.
I think it's also a mark of how deeply our communications with another have gone. When we get to know people, we eventually learn their true names.
Oh my goodness!!! I love your response to this. I cannot close my mouth. I had no idea that Hunter was his real name. And it is such a cool name. Thank you for letting me in on this. Hope that you’re not in trouble, Fran! lol!!!

The community here is indeed more than just making money Hazel (but... at the end of the day that is the primary reason we are all here)!
Some have very different usernames to our actual ones (myself included)!
As others have mentioned below though... just hover over the profile picture and you will find the name each person has signed up with!
Keep on learning my friend and all the very best for the future! :-)
Hello Hazel,
Thanks for sharing your message of gratitude.
I feel the same way about acknowledging people here in the community.
Kind regards
Erica
Ahhhh, Erica. There you are. I have you on my list. Your pseudonym is so cool, but I knew there was another name. Thank you for your comment!
Hazel
Thanks so much Hazel, I appreciate you noticing!
I love your pseudonym also, Hazelteal :)
Erica
Your right Hazel. That's why I always sign off on my comments with my name . Although my user name gives it away lol. I'm like you I have to search sometimes to address someone by their real name.
Cheers
Rob
Thank you, Rob. Me too, but I am guessing most people would know mine by reading it. I had yours figured out! Here I see I can shorten it to Rob!
Hazel
You are spot on Hazel!!!!!! I do the same thing and those select few which are some you mentioned above I take advice from. You literally have a mirrored list of my own lol.

Hi Hazel,
Contrary to my handle here, my name is actually just Jason. While the Leo in me understands I am indeed the number one Jason, unfortunately my mom didn't have the foresight to name me 01Jason when I was born.
After a lifetime of being called Jason without the 01, I've grown accustomed to walking without it, other than when I'm logged into here.
It's a pleasure to meet you formally.
While running is a long distant memory for me now, I do love the woods so much and can understand your affinity to running trails in them. I envy you your garden, and hope before my time closes to also work the ground. They say the alchemists from times of antiquity actually worked the soil, and would love to see what transformations in myself I could achieve following in their steps.
Regards,
Jason
Jason!
What a lovely comment. And I think I can remember to call you Jason without the numbers added. ;-)
I thank you, my fellow woods lover.
