I Am Such an Idiot!

To quote Phil Mickelson after his 2006 meltdown during the U.S. Open golf tournament at Winged Foot,

"I am such an idiot!"

The Sports Illustrated magazine reflects Phil's choking on the 18th hole of the final day.

And my recent realization that I have a perfect niche right under my nose!

Brainstorming Niche Ideas

I cannot stress the importance of taking your time when brainstorming ideas for your business and niche.

Choosing Your Niche, Level 1, Course 3 is probably THE MOST IMPORTANT LESSON. (https://my.wealthyaffiliate.co...)

A key take away from this lesson is that there are really no wrong niches for you. Just some are better than others.

To evaluate your choices during your brainstorming sessions, it may help to create a chart to compare. List important factors to you and then rank them. This helps organize and evaluate what is subjective in nature. For example, here is a chart I created to help evaluate several niches.

In this example, niche #2 would be MY first choice even though I am not as passionate about #2 as I am for #1.

Hope this helps.

Oh, by the way, I am building a new website based on something I enjoy, am passionate about, has a variety of products, both high and low end equipment, consumable items for repeat sales. I just need to pick a good domain name.

Enjoy.

Glen

I hadn't thought of using a chart like this to use for comparing niches. I only have one niche now but this will be helpful shouldI decide to add others. Thanks for sharing Glen.

Erica

You're welcome, Erica. I think it's a good way to sort out different niche ideas.

This blog comes to me at the right time, thanks for sharing!

Thanks, Alejandra. I am so glad it's the right time.

Glen, totally agree charts are very important for recording your ideas for comparison purposes, A great lesson.

Thanks, Kaju!

Always important, in my eyes, to brainstorm several facets of your niche. Thanks for this reminder, Glen. Best of luck to you in finding the most appropriate domain for your newest venture.
All the best,
Sue

Thanks so much, Sue. I know that rating the factors is so subjective. But at least it gets thought process working.

Necessary to append that chart to a good tool like GA for effective determination Glen!

Thanks, Mike!

An idiot would not recognize mistakes made or things he missed! Of course, you knew that, lol. Thanks for sharing the chart idea.

Blessings,
Debby

Thanks, Debby. I knew that!

It was just a "D'oh!" moment.

Haha!

I really like the chart idea to organize your Niche ideas! :) Awesome share, and thanks!! :)

Thanks for commenting, Terry! I wished I used a chart last year to evaluate some of my niches. It may have made a difference.

The right niche is key, for sure. Of course you can easily add niches after you get the training and develop the skill. If you pick a poor niche to start with, developing that skill will be much harder IMHO.
I really like your comparison chart.
Thanks Glen
Steve

You're welcome, Steve. I have had several false starts in the past with niches that just didn't work out.

Keep us posted on your site's development. Thank you for the tip.

I shall. This time, I will build my site differently with what I have learned here at WA.

Thanks for sharing, Glen.

You are welcome, Roger.
