My experience at Wealthy Affiliate - week 13 of 52 part 2

Wow, it feels like months have gone by since I posted my last update - when in fact it was only earlier in the week.

What's changed of course, is the fact that I am now back at work. And I was really back in full swing, as I ended up working also yesterday and today.

To sum up what impact this has on my online business, let me tell you that the last time I published a post was Wednesday. And the last time I interacted with the WA community and worked on this platform was Thursday.

When at home, I planned to keep publishing on my sites for a total of 3 to 4 posts a week - maybe 3 was a more realistic figure.

Now I fear I may not be able to stick to the plan!!

No time for socialising

And as we all know, keeping in touch with our social media platforms is vital to make a success of our online business.

That's another area where I failed since being back at work

It all bowls to not having time - at least, not having as much time as when you are at home. Because when at home, I could start typing in between other chores. But when I am not physically indoors, there is no way I can do that whilst at work. Naturally, even during idle periods, I would not be allowed at work to work for my own purposes. And by the time I get home, all I want to do is have a bite to eat, sit in front of the telly for half an hour and then go to sleep.

I must beat that

My aim for the week ahead is going to be just that: not to get home and slouch on the sofa watching stupid telly, but switching my laptop on and start typing away, or researching, or (vitally) start socialising again!

And who knows, maybe this time next week I shall be able to confirm having caught up with my blogging!!!

Do you have the same time management issues as me? Do you struggle balancing your 'day' job with your online business on WA? Please leave a comment below if you have any tips for me to improve on my current level of productivity, or if you want to share your frustration (!!!). Stop watching TV if WA is more important to you. Getting ahead does take sacrifices.

Yep absolutely Peter. And that's exactly what I'm doing tonight. I might not be able to finish a post, but it's started and tomorrow I will already be half way through :)

That's the spirit, Giulia!

Good morning Giulia,

I say that I want to be boss over the machine, not the other way round.
Hey, spring is here and I want to work in my garden too.

Greetings from the south of Spain, Taetske

Yes, less telly watching and more typing away Taetske :)

Control time or...time will control you...you have discovered this
"secret" to success...

Thanks Arthur, discovering the secret is good. Now I need to learn to implement the trick to be in control #lol

Mine is just the hours I work at my job. And the time I spend with my children, and grandchildren.I don't watch any television.

I think with me the telly comes in the game when out of frustration I end up freezing at the thought of how much I need to do, that I don't know where to start from!!

Don't give up. I agree it can be overwhelming.

Ahhh.... frustration!! Sound so familiar. My issue is also my work 7-day straight full time and I have a partime job as well in the same field. I work evenings and around the clock on the weekends.. I do emergency home treatments so I'm constantly on the go, constantly charting, handling emergency calls. So yeah... no time to waste. So I get you.., lol!! I can only have time to open my emails using my phone to read, reply and make comments like I'm doing now, at this point, and it's , intermittently while working. However, when On my off days, when I do sit down to work on my business, my time is interrupted between keeping a household going and taking care of my family. So I end up staying up all night to trying to get through training. It's taking me forever. I do my own research sometimes during my breaks but then again that takes time in itself. Also the truth, I'm not good at blogging. I've written so many research papers that, I have difficult time blogging. Ok so I really don't know how to blog!!! Hahaha!! And I'm working on that.
So my plan, I figure if I put in an hour a day while eating or resting to get my thoughts together and post my contents, later when I have time is good enough.
I'm so busy, and yes it's darn frustrating, being new to blogging and all, but I'm hungry to want to succeed....,, so I guess however long it takes me, I'll keep plugging away slowly .
Ahhh frustration! Frustration! Good luck my friend. :)

Ruthy

Ruth's, you are a busy lady, that you put me to shame with my constant whinging. But yes, it can be soooo frustrating when your mind comes up with ideas and thoughts, that you promptly jot down on your phone, but then you can put down in a nice 1500 word blog due to lack of time. And more frustrating it becomes when you are reminded that you should post a couple or 3 times a week in order to keep your website 'live and kicking' so it can attract more visitors. As you say, the alternaycould be stop sleeping and do that instead (!!!).
Sometimes as you say, it's pointless stressing out too much over it,or else you risk just exhausting yourself and loosing your creative vain.
Good luck with your online business Ruth, and let us know how you get on. Please help me feel like I'm not the only one that crap at this time management palaver with her online business!!! :) :) :)

Thanks for sharing, Giulia.

Although I do not have a full time job, I still need to take control of my time. My struggle is the opposite: since I only work less than 20 hours a week, I have to make sure I'm using my time productively. Also, I'm very active in my church and volunteer work, so there are weeks (like last week) where it can get hectic.

One things that really works for me, Giulia in the old fashioned yellow notepad where I jot down my "things to do" list. But I decided to tweak it a bit; I create 3 sections: priority, most important, important. So instead of just having a bunch of things on the list, I can see which items need my immediate attention, versues which items are not as important.

I'd love to be able to do more volunteering work, but lack of time only allows me a couple of things I'm scheduled for once every 3 or 4 Sundays.
But your to do ideas is really good Veronica, and I shall definitely give it a go :)

Keep in mind, I'm not married, I don't have any children and I don't work full time. Find whatever works for you, Giulia.

Keep on trucking.

I sure will try :)

Giulia, I'm also struggling with my time management. Anyhow I can't stay away from WA even a day.

When I'm tired after work I can't write a blog or do a training. Then I do read blogs, do connect with WA-people or answer a question. On my days off from my workplace I concentrate on following the certification course and write content for my website. Well, the daily chores at home also has to be done, so unfortunately I can't work on my website or communicate with WA-friends all day long.

My goal is to do something for my independance dream every day, even if it is just a tiny bit.

It's already late. Tomorrow another day at my workplace.

Wisch you a productive week!

:-) Pernilla

You're doing an amazing job and have such a great attitude, Pernilla! It's all about making adjustments.

Veronica is right Pernilla, you are already doing soooo well!
Like you,Eden I work, I tend just to be in touch with the community, and leave my website and lesson work to the Thursday when I'm not at work. That's not half as much as what I'd like to be able to do. And that's when frustration adds to tiredness, and the result is either apathy or anger. Not a pretty site of me either way!!
But you are right. Tomorrow is another day, another week. And we only strive to do better than yesterday xxx

Absolutely!!!

Giulia and Veronica you are just amazing and awesome lovely persons - love your spirit and determinations. We just have to stick together! Keep on going!
See you later.
:-)

Awww...that's so sweet. Well as the saying goes, "Birds of a feather flock together."
