I was born and raised in the Netherlands. My father was a school principal and I was the youngest of six children.
After high school, I received an education in electronics. When I was 23 years old, I decided I wanted to see more of the world. I got a job at a radio factory in what is now called Zimbabwe. Subsequently, I have also lived in different parts of the world: South Africa, France, and now California, USA.
My wife, Lynn, and I live in a cabin in the mountains of Los Padres National Forest. We have a married son and two cute grandkids.
I started working with computers in 1970, while working for Hewlett-Packard, first in hardware and then as a programmer. When the Internet started to take off and personal computers came along, I jumped with both feet into creating Web pages. Aside from that I also gained experience as a technical writer.
At this time, I am retired, but still have a lot of fun creating interactive Web pages. Lynn and I keep busy running a small business selling, among other things, pain relief products.
Our goals for the future include financial independence and helping to make the world a better place.
I welcome you to my current WA website, https://helpfulbookblog.com.

Happy Saturday to you Peter, my name is Ken and I welcome you to WA and thank you for the follow. I'm following you back.
I assume you remember AOL and the dial-up internet service. What a frontier that was. Had I known then what I know now, wow, maybe I could have been the one to sell radio.com...
I guess you get the best of both types of weather that California has to offer. Snow and warm summers.I look forward to working with you and hope you don't mind if I seek your opinions from time to time. I wish you much success and prosperity in your journey.

Hi Ken, Happy Saturday to you too and thanks for following back.
Yes, I remember AOL, Compuserve and 1200 bpi modems and the days when Alta Vista was the best search engine.
Yrs in the mountains we get snow in winter. In fact, when I look out of my window I see a snow covered mountain in front of me.
Feel free to call on me any time and I'll help you if I can. All the best to you.

Thanks, Kyle. I think I have overcome the hurdle of the niche. I want to start with self help books, if that's not to broad a niche.

Thanks Kyle. It's good to hear the advice of one who has "been there and done that".
I was going back and forth on a number of different niches and then it suddenly became clear which way I wanted to go.

Thanks Kyle, Something odd here. The top of my screen says that I have upgraded to Premium, but the menu still says I am on Course 1, Lesson 10, even though I have already watched the first video of course 2. How do I get it to point to course 2 lesson 1?

Yes, the green box on the menu still say "Course 1, Lesson 10" even though I am well into course 2 now. Does the menu only work for the intro course? I am coping with the work-around you sent me, though. Thanks for that.

Kyle, I found out why! I forgot to check the task boxes in lesson 10 in the excitement of joining Premium! The green button now says, "Course 2 Lesson 3." Thanks for checking. I'll bet I'm not the first one to do this.

I hope things are going well. I know you are getting rolling within the training and there is ONE thing that always tends to confuse people and that is "what is my niche?".
I know, same thing happened to me when I started.
I just wanted to reach out and let you know that I am here if you ever want to run any niche "ideas" by me or you have any questions about finding your niche.
Get back to me when you get the chance! :)

Yeah, Kyle. I have several ideas on niches. I always enjoy working with the Web, working with databases and that kind of thing. So I was thinking to have a niche of Web design and programming. Books and eBooks, as well as software. Would you think that is a viable nice? And might that be too narrow or too broad a niche? My instinct would be to do this as an Amazon affiliate, but I would be open to other affiliate programs as well. I might want to become an affiliate for you as well, but I would like to get a bit further into the program before I do that. What is your advice?

I would recommend that you narrow it down a bit, what aspect of "web design" or "programming" etc, o you want to help people out with?
When deciding on a niche and trying to narrow down to a more specific niche, I recommend you ask yourself the following question:
I want to help people that ______________.
Fill in the blank and you are going to be much closer to a specific audience. After you do this and if you want to run any further ideas by me, let me know and I will give you a hand. :)
