About PeterVX
Joined February 2017
I was born and raised in the Netherlands. My father was a school principal and I was the youngest of six children.

After high school, I received an education in electronics. When I was 23 years old, I decided I wanted to see more of the world. I got a job at a radio factory in what is now called Zimbabwe. Subsequently, I have also lived in different parts of the world: South Africa, France, and now California, USA.

My wife, Lynn, and I live in a cabin in the mountains of Los Padres National Forest. We have a married son and two cute grandkids.

I started working with computers in 1970, while working for Hewlett-Packard, first in hardware and then as a programmer. When the Internet started to take off and personal computers came along, I jumped with both feet into creating Web pages. Aside from that I also gained experience as a technical writer.

At this time, I am retired, but still have a lot of fun creating interactive Web pages. Lynn and I keep busy running a small business selling, among other things, pain relief products.

Our goals for the future include financial independence and helping to make the world a better place.

I welcome you to my current WA website, https://helpfulbookblog.com.

Peter, I see you are making some good progress through the Affiliate Bootcamp. Just wanted to pop by and see if you need a hand with anything?

I also wanted to mention the success rates of Bootcamp. Absolutely everyone that has taken action on all of the phases of Bootcamp has a business that is generating consistent income online. MANY of these folks are going to be at our super affiliate conference next year.

I want this to be you and I want you to succeed with your promotions. So, please promise me that if you ever need a hand or feel stuck as you move forward, that you will get in touch with me!

Trust me, I know things can be a little overwhelming sometimes and I don't want you feeling like that.

Anyways, just checking in. Get back at me if you need anything Peter.

Thank you, Kyle. Right now I am trying to catch up on all the members' posts and messages. I will be concentrating on developing my WA Affiliate website and getting on with the Bootcamp training. I'll contact you if I get stuck along the line.

Hi Kyle,
Thanks for the response.
As a matter of fact, I ran into a little snag.
I created 6 pages on my WA promo website, as in bootcamp 1:4.
I decided to make a featured image on those pages. There were a couple of sample posts and immediately after I successfully enabled my featured image on all my pages, the sample blog post showed a different strange grainy featured image that was not part of my library.

I deleted the sample posts and made my Getting Started page a static home page. Now that grainy image showed up in my Getting Started page and I have not found a way to get rid of it, neither by disabling featured image on the homepage, nor enabling my own image. The formatting of the home page is also different from the other pages.

Do you have any ideas on how to fix this?

P.S. My theme is Ascent and my website is https://buildwebincome.com.

This should be within your Appearance => Themes, under Customize. You should be able to edit/remove your header image there, but it really is dependent on the theme as they all operate a little bit differently.

Thanks, Kyle, but it looks like I am stuck with it. May I will try a different theme. Have a great day.

You can change your theme at any time within your WP-admin:

Appearance => Themes

There are over 3,000 to choose from there and you will also be able to upload your own from there.

Simply do a search there (the search is pretty good) and you will be able to find a theme/look that you are seeking.

I have created some training on how to do this that you should check out:

Thanks, Kyle, I found a much more classy theme that's simple and works fine without a featured image. Your training on how to change themes was extremely helpful. Thanks again.

Sure, that is great and I am glad you found a theme that you are happy with!

Hello, Robert, Thank you for the warm welcome. Yes, I find the marketing a tough nut to crack, being subjective to a large degree. I realize that marketing is very much developing people skills, like how to get people to your website, how to get them interested in your products, how to get them to buy products, how to get them to come back. I think that you may be able to steer me in the right direction. Any particular blog you can recommend for starters?

Best regards,

Peter

It really is a step by step process Peter so you would have to go back over 3 years to my first ones and work your way forward.
Of course this is unrealistic so all I can suggest is you have a browse and pick out the ones you believe will help you NOW and the rest can wait.
I'm actually going to publish one this Monday for 'Newbies' as its those people I get asked the most questions from.
I will send you it via a PM (private message) and you can see what you think.
After that its time I was off this damn machine and into a nice hot tub.
Catch you tomorrow.

So nice to meet you. I too have love computers for a long as I can remember. Back when Bill Gates said 4mb of ram was all anyone would need. So, I guess you understood, Cobalt, FORTRAN and some of the other earlier languages. Glad to see you are happy and successful, however, I am jealous that you are living in a cabin in the mountains. Hopefully my wife and I will be able to rent one some day as we begin our RV travels, hopefully next year.

Hi Art, good to know you and thank you for the nice message. I am now following you. Yes, programming is a lot of fun. I worked with mini-computers in the 1970s with memory as low as 16 kilobytes and we still got a lot of work done with them!

Hello Peter,
there are many possibilities in retirement.
I,too, was born in the Netherlands and spend my time travelling back and forth between BC. and Beijing.
I am semi- retired , a psychologist, and marriage and family therapist. So, never a dull moment.
Wish you all the best. Sounds great- a cabin in the mountains

Thank you Peter for the follow and many blessings to you here at WA. As a Premium Member you are probably aware of the AWESOME and FREE WA Keyword Tool we have unlimited access to.

This is the keyword research tool I have used exclusively after I became a Premium member 3+ years ago and it has helped me many times to find awesome keywords that have led to Google page 1 rankings.

I created very popular WA Training Tutorials, Part 1 and Part 2, on how to use the WA Keyword Tool for keyword research. If you have not seen it and would like to learn how simple it is to use and a little about keywords, click the below link.

Hello Peter,♫Welcome! Nice to meet you ツ I wish you a lot of learning pleasure and fun on WA. Thank you for adding me to your network. You've traveled more than I did:)

From the start, I have written training for every issue I had problems with myself. I made an addition for After The Walkthrough. Also a list of 1001 niche ideas, a checklist with 25 points to go through before you publish a post, 101 blogging ideas when you get stuck and an A-Z WA dictionary. I just love lists:) It has been very helpful to a lot of people. I have listed them in one blog you can find on my profile. It's the first website link right under “Follow me on” (click on my picture to get there). I hope to help you with those.

If you have any questions, please reply to this message or leave a comment on my profile.

Honored to follow and humbled to be followed herein @ WA .
Being fairly new my only advice is to 'use the tools' because I've found this place far&away; the best place to crawl, walk, and run.
My goal is to make people better in health via a Functional Wellness approach and look forward to 'reaching out' to many more here.
I wish you and yours much success in all of your business venture(s) and new life moments.

Thank you, Dj. I fully endorse your goals. On a related note, I am building a website of "helpful books" that made a difference in people's lives. If there is a particular book that has made a big difference in your life and that you feel may do the same for others, please send me your recommendation.

Many thanks and have a great future.

Happy Saturday to you Peter, my name is Ken and I welcome you to WA and thank you for the follow. I'm following you back.
I assume you remember AOL and the dial-up internet service. What a frontier that was. Had I known then what I know now, wow, maybe I could have been the one to sell radio.com...

I guess you get the best of both types of weather that California has to offer. Snow and warm summers.I look forward to working with you and hope you don't mind if I seek your opinions from time to time. I wish you much success and prosperity in your journey.

Hi Ken, Happy Saturday to you too and thanks for following back.

Yes, I remember AOL, Compuserve and 1200 bpi modems and the days when Alta Vista was the best search engine.

Yrs in the mountains we get snow in winter. In fact, when I look out of my window I see a snow covered mountain in front of me.

Feel free to call on me any time and I'll help you if I can. All the best to you.

Hey Peter,
Kyle again. I see you are making progress and your account is completely set up. You are doing great so far. Keep it up. And remember if you need help just ask.

I'll also be stopping by from time to time just to see how things are coming along.

Thanks, Kyle. I think I have overcome the hurdle of the niche. I want to start with self help books, if that's not to broad a niche.
Reply
el-jefe-Kyle Premium
I don't think that is too broad. There are a lot of ways you can approach choosing a niche and some people like to choose small niches. Me personally, I think its best to start out with a niche that isn't too small and narrow.

PeterVX Premium
Thanks Kyle. It's good to hear the advice of one who has "been there and done that".

I was going back and forth on a number of different niches and then it suddenly became clear which way I wanted to go.

Thanks Kyle, Something odd here. The top of my screen says that I have upgraded to Premium, but the menu still says I am on Course 1, Lesson 10, even though I have already watched the first video of course 2. How do I get it to point to course 2 lesson 1?
Reply
el-jefe-Kyle Premium
Peter, is it still saying you are on course 1?
Reply
PeterVX Premium
Yes, the green box on the menu still say "Course 1, Lesson 10" even though I am well into course 2 now. Does the menu only work for the intro course? I am coping with the work-around you sent me, though. Thanks for that.
Reply
PeterVX Premium
Kyle, I found out why! I forgot to check the task boxes in lesson 10 in the excitement of joining Premium! The green button now says, "Course 2 Lesson 3." Thanks for checking. I'll bet I'm not the first one to do this.

I hope things are going well. I know you are getting rolling within the training and there is ONE thing that always tends to confuse people and that is "what is my niche?".

I know, same thing happened to me when I started.

I just wanted to reach out and let you know that I am here if you ever want to run any niche "ideas" by me or you have any questions about finding your niche.

Get back to me when you get the chance! :)
Reply
PeterVX Premium
Yeah, Kyle. I have several ideas on niches. I always enjoy working with the Web, working with databases and that kind of thing. So I was thinking to have a niche of Web design and programming. Books and eBooks, as well as software. Would you think that is a viable nice? And might that be too narrow or too broad a niche? My instinct would be to do this as an Amazon affiliate, but I would be open to other affiliate programs as well. I might want to become an affiliate for you as well, but I would like to get a bit further into the program before I do that. What is your advice?
Reply
Kyle Premium
I would recommend that you narrow it down a bit, what aspect of "web design" or "programming" etc, o you want to help people out with?

When deciding on a niche and trying to narrow down to a more specific niche, I recommend you ask yourself the following question:

I want to help people that ______________.

Fill in the blank and you are going to be much closer to a specific audience. After you do this and if you want to run any further ideas by me, let me know and I will give you a hand. :)
