Hi. I wish to back u my website and also save it on my computer.
Can anyone direct me to a training for this? Many thanks in advance :)
Hey Ger,
Using FTP access you can download all folders and files.
You may find this external post helpful: https://wp-umbrella.com/blog/backing-up-wordpress-without-a-plugin/
Hope you find this helpful.
If anything happens to your site you can then import the file again to go back to your backup.
Yeah great idea and something worth doing regular too.
Go to tools on your site dashboard, export and then all content then download

What are the top 5 most important plugins associated with affiliate marketing?
It depends on your niche and what you are trying to do, not one website has the same.
However by default you get Kraken and the SEO framework with new WordPress installation.
Also as long as plugins are well coded, you can go above five if your website has a need.
Thank you very much.
How do you know if a plugin is well coded? Does it mean they’re frequently updated?
The bottom line to which plugins you should install and activate all depends 100% on your website's needs and goals. :) So it's really completely subjective.
So when you're looking for a specific functionality and a plugin provides it, there you go!
Ok, thanks. It’s deciding between similar plugins that I have the issue…
I guess trial and error are the way forward.
seo - definitely required
maybe - image compression - but i prefer to do my own...
maybe caching - but wa has a caching system...
whatever enhances your site functionality...
i typically add ad inserter - to add google analytics and control ad units...
for site speed - autoptimize and async javascript...or paid version wp rocket....
but as your sites are completely different to mine then if you need added features for improving the user experience of your visitors then go for those...
Thank you, Feigner, I appreciate your input :)
There are so many plugins it cab be hard to decide…
if you don't need them then don't use them..
i try to combine functions and test with pagespeed insights to see the effect...
i have added kadence blocks, generateblocks and ultimate blocks as plugins as they expand on what you can create within the block editor...
it's like ad inserter ...there are others that i am now looking at ...woody snippets as this covers what ad inserter does and more...
Thank you for taking the time to share your insight….. and saving me a tonne of time.
I suppose all plugins do what they’re built for it’s a matter of preference. I’ll definitely check out the ones you’ve mentioned above.
Thanks again.
Happy Wednesday

Is anyone familiar with the ‘amazon sellers’ method of selling on amazon?
I have recently seen a training sent to me via Dan Hollings. Looks promising, but
The only thing that I sell on Amazon is the books that I write on their Kindle Direct Publishing platform, Ger. I also have them available in Print on Demand paperbacks. I had looked into selling other things on there, but still opt for eBay to sell my unique vintage items, since I have been doing that for 20 years.
Jeff
Thanks Jeff. Great to hear you again :)
Amazon seller accounts are a little different. They allow you to help others on Amazon sell their products (on amazon also, with their permission) for a commission. The difference is you buy some of their products, make them available on Amazon and the profits are split evenly among the re-sellers. This way amazon always have backup stock.
There's lots more to it but it seems like an opportunity to at least investigate, hence my question to WA.
Have a class evening Jeff
Ger
We are not familiar with selling your own products on Amazon.
It looks like amazon has some training and other help at this url.
sell.amazon (dot) com/?ld=AZFSSOA&ref_=footer_soa
Thank you for your response, I appreciate it :)
Amazon Seller Central is where you buy products from someone already selling on amazon and make the same products available again on amazon.
Sounds complicated, but this way amazon rarely run out of products; there’s always a ‘seller’ with some. Not the same as affiliate marketing, but similar.
I know amazon have trainings on this but I wondered if anyone had actual experience with this method.
Many thanks 🙏

I was wondering if changing dates on published posts mattered. Will it effect ranking? Just wanted to make it look more consistent.
Also, if an indexed post is UN-publis
Hey Ger,
To add to the conversation, whenever I update a post with information, as long as I add at LEAST 200 words and update what WAS published previously, then and only then will I change the date.
The reason I change the date is that most times, the information I add has only come to light or been made available SINCE my original post was published.
So, in that regard, yes... it is wise to update the date of your previously published post, as THAT signal allows Google scripts to know that you have in fact, added to the topic.
Hope you find this helpful.
Yes Trish, I do find this helpful and will keep it in mind :) I’m only editing/rewriting parts of blogs and not adding much so I’ll leave well enough alone for now. Thank you :)
Have a class week.
Ger.
If ever you're trying to do something purely with the sole intention of attempting to trick search engines, it will certainly effect your sites ranking... In a negative way.
You should never, ever try to do anything purely to game the system. If it ain't in the benefit of your visitors, don't do it.
The best way to tell Google your content is refreshed, is to update it. Don't just change dates, but update your actual content.
Thanks for clearing that up, Dale. My intention was never to deceive, so I shall continue as I was updating and improving upon my posts and pages without changing dates.
I just wondered why the option to change dates was there to begin with.
Thanks again. Have a great day.
Ger.
No problem Ger, totally understand. The option is there so you can re-order you blogroll for better user experience - and if your theme doesn't reflect "updated dates", you can use set a republished date at the time of making updates so that the users can see it's been updated recently.
That’s great Dale, thanks again :) I’m not gonna bother with the dates, just gonna write more consistently from now on and update posts as I go.
Have a great week.
Ger.
