Ooops... should have shown you that the Static Page DID work with the settings shown in the video above. Here is a screen print of it.

NOTE: You would also need to add the blog post to your website menu or navigation bar so that your blog roll will be available to your website visitors.

Thanks for this tutorial, not because I personally didn't know the answer, but because it's one of the questions Wp first timers always ask. I'm making a list of WP Newbies FAQ for my followers, not published yet, and I'll point them to the right answer (don't re-invent the wheel)
I've bookmarked yours!
Cheers

Looking forward to it . It's very frustrating, really. All the advertising and training talk about how "easy" and "intuitive" WordPress is, but it's FAR from that. I suspect one spends a lot of time trying to "figure out" how to get things to work that should, but don't, for some unknown reason. Just like this lady just showed me.

I've been a programmer since 1973. To adopt and learn WP took me several months. I'm not happy with WP 100%, but it's the best platform to get outsourcing. So now I'm learning to give my followers a shortcut.

I'm following you! I do have patience, and I'm sure it'll get easier, but boy...when you're just starting out, it can really take the wind out of your sales. But I really want to learn, because in the past, I've had people/ companies do my sites for me, and it drove me crazy that I'd have to sit next to them and point out every little thing I want done. I'm kind of a control freak.

Thanks...at one time I considered changing my home page to static instead of blog. Nice to know how to do that. As it turns out, I rather like the blog set-up.

You're very welcome Fran, and like you, I decided the blog roll best to, especially given that MOST visitors come to my sites to one post from Google search results.

Only my local business has a landing page or static home page and that is because my business cards and office entrance door facing the street both carry my domain name. In this case, the landing page serves to explain to those who get curious... :-))

The blog roll is by far the best way. For search engines and for visitors! Many people simply don't look at side bars etc. or categories/pages. They enter your website through an article/blog post and often decide to go have a look at the front page. If there is no change when they return later on they usually think you're not active :-)
