My simple lesson from nature to make your online business thrive
I've just seen a nuthatch in my garden and it made me smile, big time!
It also reminded me of an analogy betweem feeding the birds and working here at WA on your own online business, so I thought I'd share my thoughts, briefly.
You see, I used to feed the birds in my garden regularly; every day I would add seeds, fat balls and tit-bits to the table and various feeders I had hung around the garden; and I loved watching the variety of wildlife that were attracted there - we also have foxes, badgers and a family of hedgehogs!
But then life seemed to get in the way, and I put out food less frequently, 'didn't refresh the feeders, and yes, you've guessed it, I also began to see less wildlife.
Last week I resolved to change this and began to 'feed the birds' again, and was rewarded mightily this morning by seeing my favourite, the nuthatch.
This is like my membership here at WA.
I've actually been a member here for coming up 18 months and for the first 10 months, worked really hard at getting my websites up and running and keeping them stocked with new content every month. It was working too and my ratings improved, I had several articles on page one of Google, and was in the top 50 here at WA.
Then things started to wane, however, when I got 2 new jobs in 'real' life, which meant I did not have as much time to devote to my online working, so I didn't post here at WA for a while, or indeed, on my own sites either. I was no longer putting in the hours and my ranking sank, as did the visitors to my site.
Now it's not all doom and gloom here because one of the jobs I got was a writing job which pays me well, AND which I consider I got directly as a result of joining WA in the first place, so I have been keeping up with my writing, just writing for a magazine rather than for my own sites. So I've been keeping my writing ticking along, as they say. And in the first 10 months of being here I managed to make enough money to cover my annual membership for nearly 3 years so I'm not out of pocket either.
But that's not my ulitimate goal. I want my online businesses to flourish: a) because I love what I do here, and b) because I want to reap the financial rewards too.
The point is, that just like 'feeding the birds' - the more consistently you write (or feed the birds), the better the results you get. The birds are just like the visitors to your website - when you put out what they need, they'll flock to you.
So I'll be posting an article this week, and I'll let you know when I do.
So come on everyone, it doesn't matter if you haven't posted for a while - the birds are still there and they want feeding - and if you provide the food - they'll devour it!
Success is within your grasp!
Have a lovely week everyone.
Gail

That is an amazing image of the bird, feeding on someone's hand, trust redefined. I really like how you connected the birds feeding in your garden to WA so true. We are all capable we just need to work towards our goals thank you for the reminder and good to see you, Gail.
Thank you Gail. What a real analogy. What we focus on and with consistancy, produces results.
I'll keep reading your work.

Thanks Ken. I appreciate that. I'm a firm believer in focus being everything....that's what I love to write about.
Have a good day

Hi Gail, Thought I hadn't seen you here lately.
Lovely analogy. We love the birds in our garden as well. Wow! a Nuthatch, that is special. We currently have robins, great tits, blue tits, wrens, and a dunnock plus the owl in the tree at the top of the garden in the evening!
Look forward to your post later this week.
Keep up the good work - Keep feeding those birds!

Hi you two - yes good to be back.
It's school holidays here so I've got a bit of time. I'm jealous of your owl.....would love to see one of those. I've had them fly past the car and can here them but I've not seen one in the garden....yet!
Have a great week.
