Being an old teacher
Being an old teacher
Being an old teacher all has become simple. Unified and clarified. No more need of many words or explanations. Teaching is not an encyclopedia that unfolds. Just one idea, or technique or hint. And something that associates with it to make it easier to grasp. Unforgettable.
Not just words.
What does it need?
It needs a feeling, an image, something the memory can grasp. And since many lack memory it needs imprints in the senses.
It needs no explanations, just the essence.
It needs to be easy to understand.
It needs one topic, not a book.
It needs a lesson that stands by itself.
It needs no precognition.
It needs space and silence to assimilate.
It needs exercise and repetition.
And such that it respects the other.
Not an invasive teaching that destroys a house...

Wow Fleeky, that is some deep thinking...but...thinking that makes complete sense. You know, I think all of us have had teachers, parents, instructors, etc. during our lifetimes that resonated with us for years. Sometimes, I think teaching is like leaders. Some are just born with the ability to as you put it, "needs a feeling, an image, something the memory can grasp". Those type of people don't need a book or many concepts to teach. They speak and people just understand the point.
Thanks for this post!
