How to Link to Another Section of the Same Post (HTML Anchoring)
It's time for your daily dose of Wordpress Wisdom! In today's quick tutorial I'll show you how to link from one area of your post to another area in the same post. This is called HTML anchoring and it's like creating a "jump link" where your audience clicks on some text and then they are taken immediately to the section of the post that corresponds with that text.
You see this often with FAQ type posts where the questions are all at the top of the post and clicking on any question will take you down directly to the answer found later in the post.

Thank you! I am going to make a page with an A-Z list so my readers can click on the letter of what they're looking for, but I had no idea how to do it yet!

I have a dumb question: If you have your anchor test take your readers to, say, a tools and resources list that is at the end of your post, how do you make it so they can go right back to where they were without having to scroll through the whole post?
It annoys me when I have to scroll ALLL THE WAY back up to where I was. Is there a way to do this ?
Dose that make sense lol ?
Thanks, im trying to be productive and get my hands dirty :-)
If you have an extremely long post and use an anchor text that takes your audience from the very top of the post all the way down to the very end you could potentially create a "back to top" anchor text that takes them back to the top.
But in most cases, this isn't necessary. Scrolling takes 2 seconds.
LOL i was thinking of people like me with zero patience :-) Okay, thanks, that answers my question.
Rock on as Frank B says,
