How to Set Up a Footer Menu
It's time for your daily dose of Wordpress Wisdom! In this quick tutorial I'll be showing you how to set up your footer menu for your Wordpress website. First, why would we need a footer menu? Well, our footer menu is a perfect spot for those menu items that we don't want taking up the "prime" real estate of our main menu. For those "secondary" type menu items, the footer menu is a perfect place to nest them. Let's show you how it's done.
As always, feel free to share this video anytime you see someone asking about setting up their footer, and if you have any Wordpress related questions that you'd like to see in a future Wordpress Wisdom tutorial please feel free to send me a private message or just leave me a message on my profile.
See you next time!

Eric, I thought I followed your instructions okay; however, I already had my main menu established before attempting the footer. Therefore, I now have the footer in great shape at the bottom of the page, containing the Privacy Policy and the Affiliate Disclosure. Those 2 pages also still reside in my Main Menu (which I don't want), but I don't have Home and About Janice in my Main Menu anymore. Help. Thanks!
Just add or remove what you don't need from your main menu under Appearance>Menus. It won't affect the footer.
I'm loving them!
Always good to go over things again and you keep it so simple buddy!
Have a wonderful weekend!!

Hi Eric
I run into a glitch. were. the footer menu ended up displayed at the top as well. It seems that the newest version of the theme will add a menu at the top anyway. I added a Main Menu with Home and About page at the top. But the footer at the bottom is not displayed as a footer. It is displayed like 3 hyperlink one under the other. How can I fix this? Also sometimes my images are displayed too big. I scale them when I upload them but it dow not seem to make a difference. Thank you?
Maybe upload a screenshot so we can see what you mean by the footer being placed up at the top…
And with images after you upload them you can edit their size 👍🏼
Hi Eric
I solved the problem with the menu. WP wants a main menu and because I created only the footer menu, it used it both as a header and footer menu. I created a new menu and assigned it as a main menu.
I edit the picture to half the original size. Still too big. At 1/4th of the original size they become too small. I think the image should be either across the whole page sidebars and all or the same width as the text column. All these widgets and moving parts behave the way they want, it't like a mutiny...Some of these might be covered i other training modules?! I have not made it that far.
Attached is the screenshot for the footer. Thanks!
It's totally normal when you're first starting out to not completely understand how to arrange and customize your site. Designing websites is brand new to so many of us and the comfort level just comes with practice. Just like with your menu where you thought the theme was messing up and then you realize it was a simple mistake. Happens to all of us. Great job figuring that out. 👍🏼
With the images after you upload them you can just use the drag feature to size them perfectly however you like it. Just click the image once it's in your content and drag the outer edge of it to perfectly size it. I'm sure you'll figure it out just like you did with the menu :)
Keep up the good work!
