Non intrusive monetized links are the key!
I just responded to one of the wonderful people of this great community about his new website. He wanted some feedback and I obliged. I see a very common mistake that could help a lot of us and it was this:
The key is to monetize your website so you can earn an income while giving the information that people want to read about, right? So, when you write an article about whatever subject you are providing to your audience of readers, and give them pictures of a product, or great information on it, allow your reader the ability to link to that product by clicking on it which will take them through your website to that product and hopefully for a purchase that you get paid for.
For Example:
I love golf and the equipment today is outstanding and the market for a good Driver or putter is waiting to be bought. So I would write something like:
I bought this Burner Driver and I hit the ball a mile. The quality of the club is visually pleasing and lightweight. The best thing about this Driver is the price. I got it for a steal at amazon.com and I think you will like it to.
The golf fanatic,
Dave
The links are small and direct your reader to the purchase. This is non intrusive marketing that you can build on.
Happy article writing,
Dave

What is your take on contextual text ads like Infolinks sprinkled in with affiliate links? What is your opinion affiliate banners and widgets?
I feel that they are good things to initiate in an article or webpage, but at the same time, you don't want to scare your reader away thinking that all you want is for them to do is click on the link. That would turn me off as a reader.
Remember, we as the author of the website, want people to like the content and then use the link to things we suggest. That is the approach that I have taken in the past and it has worked for me.
Method:
1. Good content
2. Suggestive inspiration of a product (a review)
3. Then a link here and there sparingly
That is my take on it.
Thank you for the like,
Dave
Thank you, speaking from a newbies perspective this was very informative. So many long time guys here tell you but it was great to see it. They guys making money don't want to show their site.
God bless
Kymee
I agree, but at the same time, certain things as simple as this need to be shared.
Have a great day,
Dave
Sound advice. I have seen a number off sites where the authors could not understand why they were not making any money only to find that there were very few links (and in one case none at all) to the product.
Remember people, great content will get visitors to the site but the ultimate aim is to get them to purchase. You have to lead them to the sale, not just to the site.
Thank you for the input. I have been doing online marketing off and on for the last 4-5 years. I am an old dog learning new tricks. That's why I like it here. People are very responsive.
Vest wishes,
Dave
The links that I posted in the blog don't take you to the actual site, they are there for an example of how to use the link feature in your editor.
Hi dw
Not a day goes by here at WA where i dont pick up something useful. Thanks for the info.
Can i ask you - my website is almost up and running, i went through the affiliate bootcamp so it is designed around promoting WA. Is it still ethical to use that same site viewthatreview.com - which i own - to promote other products like your golf club example
and earn money off the commisions, or should i be setting up seperate sites to promote other goods?
Any thoughts
Cheers
Mike
Hi mikepb80,
promoting goods along with WA is difficult in my mind because they are two different subjects. WA is very specific and products or goods is spread out. One is teaching us how to learn the proper way to build a website and content while the other is try to sell you something.
This don't mean it can't be done, but it would be, and pardon my pun "A Hard Sell"
I hope this helped,
Dave
Hi Mikepb80,
I checked out your site and it is coming along nicely. So far I can see you put in a lot of time on it. To answer your question about separate websites to sell products, I think it would be difficult to blend in just products unless they were specific to the content.
Affiliate programs come to mind and this is a possibility.
Do a search on google, example:
learning products- affiliate programs
This should bring up some affiliate programs available. This is just a suggestion, I hope this helps,
Dave
Cheers dw
the main aim is to promote WA on this site by diverting traffic from scam sites such as empower network. I was just thinking because it is a review site that having a section where i could review products (un biasly) of other natures.
For product sales then do you suggest buying a seperate domain and calling it gadget reviews for example so that all the products that i review can come under one site or is it still best to keep any product promotion as complete seperate pieces of work.
Mike
Sorry me again
If i were to promote other affiliate programs on my site other than WA how would i get commision if i was not a member.
Sorry to keep picking your brain its just once i get on roll i like to capitalize haha
Cheers
Mike
PS thanks for positive feedback on site.
Hi mikepb80,
I would keep your site going the way it is already in a positive direction and stay focused on WA. If you have time and money for another site like you suggested, then in my mind, that would be better and you can eventually link the two together through a similar interest. This way, one doesn't hinder the other. Use a text link or photo of the new site as a site worth checking out.
Example:
New Reviews From "yournewwebsite.com"
As far as affiliate links from other places go, you just paste in the javascript that the new affiliate program you join gives you. They will give you an affiliate ID and the link to send people to, just like WA.
I hope this was helpful,
Dave
thanks for the advice mate. legend. if I get any good at this online business il repay the favour one day
Mike
I have a section of my website, called How to give it back. I'm writing about people who give it back and link you to books about those people. New concept so I'm not sure if others are reading the bios and if they would want the books. I plan to expand to rating non-profits and making sure people know who uses their money in a responsible way. No buying chances there.

Perfect, links the way you melt them in your text. I will use this for sure. super!
Glad you like the concept. This way, you aren't chasing away your reader.
