What is a Blog?
What is a Blog? to most of you this concept is as common as the air we breathe. What is a niche? what is a seo? what is, what is, what is etc... these terms are a new portal for me, terms which i have never dealt with in my life long mode of survival.
A few short weeks ago i signed up for Wa's premium package thinking hey! what an opportunity to engage myself into a new paradigm, a paradigm that could lead me off the labor grid and into the recesses of hidden talents, talents i have kept subdued for to many years now.
Excitement surged through my body like a run away train, i jumped in, hit the throttle and sped my way right into my new web site which would certainly pave my path to glory! But then! in the wink of an eye, my engine sputtered, the rails beneath my feet began to shake and rattle, my once promising ride to economic freedom came to a blistering halt ! my rush to the finish line has left me scratching my head and wondering why my train has threatened to derail me?
i was stranded in a state of utter confusion, not knowing which way to go, or even understanding how to proceed. Then "BOOM" like a thunderbolt of unbridled thunder it hit me! the tortoise and the hair!
LOL... oh the irony!
i have spent most of my adult life encouraging people to tune out there televisions, and not let the mass media machine infiltrate there consciousness! get out and engage your neighbors, shake a few hands and get to know people i have always said. This is the key! collectively we are an unstoppable force! and so on and so on.
And yet here at WA, i have not paid heed to my own philosophies? Was it Elvis whom sang "only fools rush in" This may blog may seem a little over the top, a bit grandiose if you will! but it reflects my current state of mind, and maybe it will cause me to take my own advice and engage myself in a coherent manner with all the good people here at WA.

You expressed yourself rather well. I can identify with your second and third paragraph. But, I'm more like the tortoise: "Slow and steady wins the race."
Enthusiasm gets you to sign up and pumps you up -- but eventually moderation is the key. You don't want to stay up 48 hours, but then you don't want to only spend 48 minutes. You don't want to write 48 pages of junk, but 4 or 8 pages of quality will get you there. Many folks have joined and then sunk -- just keep a steady pace and you can win the race.
I've had a couple months away from my website-- moving, new job, and total chaos in every aspect of my life. Just started writing on my website again, and I keep having friends and family ask me how much money I'm making on it. I remind them that I can only get out of it what I put in, and I haven't been putting in lately! My focus has returned to LEARNING FIRST. I believe that success will come in time with this affiliate marketing, but that the most important thing is to get myself a solid foundation of knowledge. Back to writing every day! And back to learning here at WA.
Wonderful thoughts. There is always a rainbow before the pot of gold.
Thanks for reminding us.
All so very true.As one WA member so aptly put it 'slow down to speed up here at WA'
Good advice for us all.
Kyle, is right and we all have learned a lot because of his training and knowledge. I started at WA in the beginning of August and I hit the ground running but not because I wanted to make a quick buck (would have been nice but it's not reality) but because I was excited to learn something new.
Building a business is like building a house. Knowledge comes first, then comes the foundation, then the framework, then the walls and roof, then the wiring and plumbing, and so on.
It was my intention to learn, apply and repeat. First I needed to learn how to effectively build my websites, then furnish them with quality content and images, get them indexed and ranked into Google, then get the traffic,...all of this takes time. Don't focus on the money aspect because that will come later.
As of yesterday I'm finally getting ranked high in Google, soon will come the traffic and eventually the money. You have to be realistic and have patience. Work hard and not quit. Rome wasn't built in a day. or my favorite...
“He who would learn to fly one day must first learn to stand and walk and run and climb and dance; one cannot fly into flying.” – Friedrich Nietzsche
This is an awesome post and you had me engaged the entire time. You are a natural.
One thing that you said could be summed up by most people's disappointment:
"my rush to the finish line has left me scratching my head"
Far too many think they are racing to some invisible "success" finish line. This is not hte case. You are not competing in a sprint against anyone and the minute you start sprinting fast towards something, though you don't even know where the finish line is or if one even exists, it is going to lead to disappointment and failure.
Success does take some time and those that are willing to work at it, see results. ALWAYS. I have yet to see someone fail at this that didn't quit and I know that you are going to achieve wonderful things as you move forward Duke.
Let's walk side by side in the journey at a turtles pace. As long as we are moving forward, we are moving in the right direction.
LOL;), you're having fun! Ain't that great? Love your spirit and attitude, Duckenstien.
I'd do well to adopt a bit of your practical advice.
Thanks! And welcome to this lovely community:)

OK.... So, a blog is basically just writing something and engaging in a discussion about that topic? I have never blog in my life and if this is the meaning, then I think I got it. Maybe I can do the blogging thing. lol. Thank you for this post. I have been a little nervous about the blogging thing, but I think I can do it now. Thanks!
