Is it necessary to have posts on my website? Does it alter my ranking?
The blog roll really will help on ranking and do all you can to use keywords you find in Jaaxy or other keyword finders as you title and subject so it will be found for them. That could lead to $$$$. If I can help let me ????
It is helpful to have posts. I try to create a couple each week for my website, to improve my ranking.
Rankings come over time. Posts can be thought of as pages-broken down into smaller chunks. So you would have a longer page 'chapter' and then posts dividing it up. Does that help? :) Or better yet-a cookbook. The longer pages being the type of food cooked, the posts being the actual recipes :)
I try to post on my blog 2-3 times per week targeting a keyword. I think it does help your overall ranking as time moves on and especially if people interact with your posts.
I'm also wondering about all the posts I have. Kind of on the same subject and I've been wondering. I like to let would-be web site viewers see the latest of what I've written because I feel as if I hide a piece in a page, no one will see it???? I'm in that situation right now. Too many posts and I need content for my pages.??
The advantage of posts is that you can add categories to them which group them so as to help a visitor find what they're looking for. You might have posts that are categorised, "News", "Reviews", "Best Buys" and use either a Category Widget or add a Category Item to a menu, so that a visitor can see a relevant collection of posts. :) Rich.
You don't need posts on your site to rank well. Most of my sites are built using pages and some I add blog to one of the pages.

Posts build up your ranking. The alternative is a squeeze page, used to capture people's email address and to build up a mailing list and affiliate out products that way. Squeeze pages don't get content added to them as such, but you can add a page to them in Wordpress. So if you send an email to someone with a link on it, they can click on it and go to a page of your website. People adding their details to a squeeze page keep it acitve.

When uploading image on Street Article it just keeps running. This issue happened last week but was corrected but is doing the same again. I do not believe it is related to size
Thank you to all who helped. I finally changed my pic to 200x200 which worked. I don't understand because a week ago I used the same pic without changing the size and it let me crop and upload. I lost that image when I deleted my article to start over. I went to resizeyourimage.com which cropped my pic OK but to be able to download I needed to add a new program. That locked up my computer and I didn't feel comfortable trying a second time. Anyway finally got my first Street Article published. Hurray!!!!
I experienced the same thing when I was gonna upload my image, but once I changed it to 200x200 which some kind people here at WA helped me with, then it worked perfectly :) Good luck!
Sheryl…looks like you have some answers. Let us know what the problems was…good education.
Sheryl, I had the same problem. SA image needs to be 200 x200 pixels. I found a site that is free. It's called resizeyourimage.com Really simple to use. Hopefully it solves your problem. I went through the same frustration.

Go to websites & Hosting of the tools and services on your left.
When page opens click on support tickets tab at the top of the open page under messages tab.
Click on submit a new ticket sign line and go along.
That's the only thing I can think of too, the size. Unless someone else comes a long with a different or better answer, I'd put in a support ticket. Sorry for the problem!
I had that on a number of occasions - it is very frustrating. And because of it I no longer use SA. I think I tried for over 2 days.
It was a long time ago though. I just haven't been back.

When I ask a HTML question someone is always kind enough to answer BUT I don't feel comfortable just moving things around when I don't understand where or why. If it doesn't wor
Sheryl…looks like to got the assistance you needed. Don't get hung up on HTML coding. There really isn't much need for it, other than to know it is a tab you may need to click on when inserting affiliate links onto your website. Our best to you.
Hi Rightnow,
Another great book is 'head first html and css'. A lot of good stuff in it and they walk you through creating a website using HTML.
Hope that helps.

Rightnow, years ago I invested in the little book, HTML for Dummies. There is a whole series of "Dummie" books, but this one was very basic and very clear. It enabled me to create a website and add content to it using HTML coding. Although, WordPress makes HTML seem very cumbersome, it is good to know how to center things and how to set frames and such. Getting that book might be a good place to start and find out if you really want to learn HTML.

Perfect....I have other "Dummie" books but hadn't thought of it for HTML. I'm going to order today. Thanks a million
Lynda.com has great training. A lot is for free but you have a limited time access - about a week if I remember correctly.
Thanks, I'll let you know how it works for me. I'd love to find something that I can pass on to others.
If you can't find the training you are looking for here at WA. Then you can try Udemy. They are a very reputable site. I use them for various reasons. They often have free training available. For free though, you may not get a complete training course. Look up HTML 5 perhaps?
Thanks, I'll check these out. My mind works that I have to understand where I start and where I finish and what happens in between. At this point I don't know the language of HTML to know what I'm looking for. I may have to pay for a community college course to get the basics.
