How To Write An About Me Page For New Members

This seems to be something that new members have trouble completing. I have seen at least 5 sites recently, while giving feedback, that simply do not have an about me page. Maybe you're having trouble because you don't know how to write an about me page. Maybe you're not comfortable with the idea.

This page is more important than you might realize. Let me ask you a question. If you went to a site giving advice on, let's say, how to fix a leaky faucet, wouldn't you want to be assured that the person giving the advice knew something about faucets, and plumbing in general? Of course you would!

You'd want to know all about that person. How did they learn about faucets, how long have they been fixing faucets, did they study under a plumber, are they a licensed plumber and so on! You would want to get to know them before you trusted their advice, right?

Well, it's the same for your website. That's what an About Me page is - a way for your readers to get to know you and get comfortable with you. Help them out! Tell them your story. How did you come to create your own website, was it due to an illness that you or a loved one suffered through? Was it a passion that you had for a hobby or sport? Why did you decide to turn that into a website? (how are you going to help them) What is it about your experience or knowledge that makes you an authority on this subject?

Write like you are talking to your friends. Tell them more than just the facts. Help them get to know who you are and gain their trust. Give them some personal insights into who you are and what you can do to help them.

I hope that helps make it easier for you to write an About Me page. It's really just like making a new friend!

As always, your likes and comments are greatly appreciated. Let me hear from you.

Blessings,

Debby

Thank you, Debby. I have concluded that About Me page should answer the question: Why should people read and give trust to our website contents?

Exactly Melani, along with a little personal information about you. This page helps to build our visitor's interest as well as their trust.

This is great advice, Debby! I have ideas what I am going to write about for my about me page. I am doing Boot Camp. The thing I am unclear exactly is when you get to the part of how I can help my audience with their financial goals...I haven't reached mine yet so I feel at a loss what I can do inspire them join WA.

I believe whole heartedly in the program that is why I am dong it. I know its the best out there in this space. I am not sure what exactly I say when I have to write the goal of the site. I am a newbie and do not have experience in this space of actually making money online.

My first online business was a huge financial disaster where I suffered a nervous breakdown and lost my house over it. I failed. I do not have a success story to tell them yet. I know one day with WA I will, but what do I say now?

Hey Cheryl,

Sorry to hear of your health issue and financial loss.

This must be the reason it is suggested that we all start with the Certificate Courses and then take the Bootcamp. Wow ... you have to decide on financial goals in Bootcamp training ... yikes. Heck, I'd be at a loss right there. LOL.

The Certificate Courses is where I started ... and Kyle teaches us to provide useful information. That part is easy, else I'd not be able to write at all.

The financial gain will come if/when I select the right niche and provide the right content.

Tell them about some of our most successful members here and how you have seen over and over that this program works! I'm sorry I am just now replying, somehow this question got lost in the shuffle and I am just now seeing it for the first time! I hope you have already had some successes of your own to tell by now but, if not, highlite some of our members success stories and tell them how much you have learned thus far with WA.

Thanks for this great post! I'm a newbie and it helps a lot to make sure I'm on the right track!

Thanks Daniel. I glad you got something good out of it!

it is important to establish some kind of trust yet not give away too much information about yourself either ;)

Right Mary, I just couldn't believe how many just didn't have an about me page at all on their sites!

well spotted on your part, and nice of you to take the time to check that out - I'm seeing in the classrooms a lot of people struggling wondering what it is and also a few thought they had to tell a lot about themselves.

I just did some feedback the other day and it seemed like every other site was lacking. I went back and counted how many times I had advised them to create one and I know I had seen at least 5 or 6!

One of the best about me pages is Pat Flynn's at smart passive income dot com.

Thanks Glen! This page is really a lot more important than many seem to realize. I hope some of our new members will be put at ease about writing one through this post.
