Your Pinterest Profile Matters!

So, I am continuing my fascination with all things Pinterest, and am seeing some excellent growth in all my accounts.

You may remember my previous post of 3 weeks ago, when I shared some stats.

https://my.wealthyaffiliate.com/dianescorpio/blog/dont-follow-wa-members-on-

pinterest

At that point, my accounts were attracting 74.5k viewers per month, and 186.7k, respectively.

Which seemed pretty impressive, right?

Take a look at the results just weeks later.

I confidently predict, that the second account will soon surpass HALF A MILLION views per month, very shortly.

And yes, they are sending click throughs to their respective websites.

Not a huge amount, I have to confess, just two or three hundred each month, but every little helps!

What you have to realise is that Pinterest is a search engine, and has its own set of SEO algorithms.

And just like Google, you want your pins to be featured highly in the search results.

One of the most important things that Pinterest looks at is your profile.

So, don't waste it with waffle and fluff!

Get your keywords in, right at the start!

You only have between 130 and 140 characters, so don't bother introducing yourself and ideally, try and fit everything in, within the character count, so that people don't have to click "... more" to read all of it.

Let's pretend I have a keto website.

Here are two examples to illustrate this, the wrong way and the best way.

Hello, my name is Diane and I want to show you my journey with keto and how it has helped me in so many ways. By following all my helpful ... more

So, as you can see from the above example, it hasn't really told your visitors or Pinterest anything of substance.

And it only has one keyword in it.

Now, let's look at what would be a great example for the same account.

Keto Weight Loss | Keto Recipes | Keto Diet | Keto Meal Prep | Keto Snacks | Diet

Look how many keywords I have included, and it's only 80 characters, I could add more.

You don't need to be chatty and friendly in your bio, just tell people and Pinterest what your boards are about.

I hope this helps, and I will share some more Pinterest SEO tips very soon.

"What you have to realise is that Pinterest is a search engine, and has its own set of SEO algorithms."

I had said this in many years, many here very disagree but I always say Pinterest are not social media but very powerful search engine and people there are coming to get benefit but now just look!

Hi - it has taken approximately 3 months to get to this stage.

I am posting daily, and I am creating video pins, not just image pins.

I will share exactly what I am doing in further posts.

Thank you, Diane.
This is incredible. Thanks for the share,

Rachele

I love your confidence but...

In one site I had close to one million and this was for a long period. Then it dropped overnight (as usual with this business) to 70k or so.

Why one million? And why 70k? I shall never know.

But it seems you know the answer on the first question. It cannot be just those 140 characters, couldn't it? What else?

1

Hi - well, as you have gathered, this post relates solely to Pinterest, which has entirely different SEO rules than Google.

To be honest, I do think that content writing alone no longer cuts it with Google.

Hence, this experimentation with social media, which I have always avoided in the past, seeing it only as a timewaster.

But, it's a very powerful tool when used correctly, and I suspect the majority of people don't understand it.

I'm sorry, this doesn't really answer your question, and I am aware that you have lost confidence in the whole process.

I wish I could help, and I know you also talk with Partha, and I hope he is able to come up with solid, actionable advice for you.

1

Actually I was talking only about my experience with Pinterest. This platform too shows dramatic drops in traffic.

The mentioned million was there for a couple of years, and I never understood why this particular site was so good in the eyes of Pinterest while others were two orders of magnitude below it. My approach was the same for all of them.

In any case, thank you for the reply.

1

Oh, sorry, Jovo, I misunderstood!

In some respects, I agree that you can definitely drop views.

But, in my experience, that only happened when I stopped posting pins regularly.

If I miss even just one day, the figures can drop by 100k.

Of course, I have only just started doing this, over the last couple of months, and I don't have the long-term experience or evidence beyond that period.

Thank you for sharing what happened, I will continue to post daily to Pinterest and monitor the results carefully.

1

Now this is something new to me. Such incredible drops because of missed pins I have never seen. It would be good to know why this is so, and why this is so sensitive.

My variations were always similar to Google, and this means peaks for weekends.

No doubt you have to continue with this, it is worth the effort. Such numbers are simply amazing, and as you say they are growing. Keep doing what you are doing, it works and this is what matters.

My big drop happened roughly in the same period when the site lost its traffic in Google, but the drop in Pinterest was far more dramatic.

1

Good morning Diane, outstanding, have a wonderful weekend enjoy your Friday with much prosperity.

2

Wow good info, Diane, and Keep succeeding!
