200,000 Words Typed on Site Content

I never realised how many words I have actually typed this year until I actually stared at that number again just now, so thought it would be good to share as many of us, NO ALL of us should be writing goals for next year!

Keeping an eye on our word count can is a good measure of how we are progressing with our content.

For this reason I only ever type through site content but I understand and respect everyone's own system of writing and what they use.

This is just the best way for me.

I like the fact I can set my monthly goals and article goals in the writing stats section of Site Content.

in 2019 I will set a target of 250,000 words which works out to roughly 20833 words per month.

That is certainly acheivable and when you think about it not many articles per month either.

I could of got to 225,000 words this year but I. never wrote an article in August, This is something I have looked at and something I will do better with in 2019.

Holding Yourself Accountable

I am holding myself accountable on this blog and I am going on record to say

I WILL Write 250,000 words in 2019

my TARGET is 20,800-21,000 words per month and my Article count will be 12-15 articles per month.

I have put a reminder in my phone for the 29th December 2019 to look back at this article and see how I did and I will post my results in 12 months.

I'd like to see what you have in mind for your word counts for 2019 as this will help you towards your website goals in the coming year.

Remember I will be coming back to this post in 12 months and we can see how we all did!

imagine where your websites will be with around 144-160 posts uploaded by the end of 2019 on top of what you have done this year!

Just a little of topic and On A Lighter Note To End With!

Who sometimes clicks on site comments when they meant to click on Site content or vice versa? I'm always doing it! :)

Congratulations on your output.

I am always looking for new ideas on self-motivation - how do you motivate yourself to write so much and keep on track?

Do you have a fixed schedule where you write during a certain time, break it up throughout the day or do it all at once, take days off to refresh, reward yourself when you accomplish your goals?

Thanks.

Dave.

I agree about setting goals and holding yourself accountable. I'm kinda cheating in that I'm including my niche blog writing goals in a general, flexible, writing accountability group along with my fiction goals so there are others watching me and asking how it's going. I like to break big goals up into more manageable chunks though. Looking at the whole year seems pretty overwhelming.

Hi

You have to have a system that suits you but I agree with your goals, it can be daunting trying to acheive such a big goal.

I set yearly goals and work backwards and set out monthly goals that work towards my yearly goal.

Monthly broken down to weekly and so on.

I like the idea of a word count goal, but have you figured out how to translate that into some kind of money related marketing result?

I ask because at the end of the day, I know I could write 200,000 or 400,000 words even, that won't make me a red cent :)

cheers, Marc.

Hi Marc

Nothings guaranteed but this is just one part of the goal setting for me.

The majority of these articles will be reviews or blogs with links to target audience pages.

I will not be typing for the sake of typing as your right, it will not make a cent.

Cheers

Darren

Great! Darren, I think it makes a lot of sense to do related reviews. In fact I've been mulling over the necessity of doing just that for the niche I've chosen.

Given my analytical brain, I like the idea that, for example, 'for every 10,000 relevant words I write [in reviews], I can expect revenue of [xyz $$]' so I was wondering if you had worked out some kind of rough formula along those lines.

Probably wishful thinking on my part! Anyway I appreciate the reply! Marc

I wish Marc

I was hoping you had ! Ha ha

Writing the articles with intent and choosing correct keywords is all part of it but you can check on google analytics and see what pages get the most clicks.

It’s best using a desktop for that rather than the phone app.

Darren

Happy New year to you and your family
That are some great goals and should be not hard to achieve.
Have a great day
Tommy

Thanks Tommy

I’ll be giving it a good shot ! Lol

Here is a screenshot of the result of a revisit and editing/adding pictures within SiteContent then Editing In Wordpress of an existing post in one of my sites.

I'm not sure I understand your point, Joe...

Jim

I was in Text vice Visual Mode Jim. Getting old over here. ha ha ha. Thanks for stopping by. Just followed you!

An eye opener. I do not use SiteContent a whole lot. So in addition to tracking our word counts what else does SiteContent do.

I experimented with an old post that I happen to find in SiteContent. Went to Published: Edit here and I ended up in a strange looking (not the usual one) version of WordPress.

And THE PICTURES DID NOT APPEAR instead a text or a code of some kind appeared in place of the pictures that I have added to an EXISTING post.

Any ideas?

Joe

So site content does quite a bit...
It tracks when your post is indexed.
It gives you access to WA’s image library.
It optimizes images when you publish.
And more.

Once you publish you can’t edit in Site Content any more and it will take you to your WP editor. From your description it sounds like you’re in the code or text editing mode vs the visual mode.

Thanks a bunch Scott! You and Site Support confirmed I was in the Text Mode vice Visual! Amazing what Tropical Depression storms do to a man's head! ha ha ha. Thanks for the additional info on SiteContent!

Happy & Blazing New Year 2019 to you and your's!

Glad you're all fixed up!

You are certainly doing well. And, by the way, I, too, click often on site comments when I mean to click site content.

Now I'm going to look at my total word count.

Thank you

Yay I’m not alone! Ha ha

Great let me know what it is!

Okay, for six months it is 76.655 in content, and there are a couple of posts that I did on WP, so that will up it a little.

It’s amazing how the words add up isn’t it!

Yes, it is.

That's a very commendable goal you have achieved, Darren! Now, you've set the bar higher - which means greater things will happen for you in 2019!

Jim

Thanks Jim

I have something to work to, I already have subjects in line to write about in January

Great post, Darren, thank you. Happy new year to you and all your family.
