Consider Access to The Internet Blocked For 1 day.
Leakages of exam papers is a big factor.
Algeria, Iraq, Ethiopia and India blocked all access to the Internet for two hours while students were sitting their exams. Can you imagine the impact on a country like USA or Switzerland.
The system of exams needs to be re-examined; all year round assessment should pay a greater part in graduations, not written exams.
The best students sometimes panic in exams.

I agree with you. I am one of those that can't test well. You say test and my mind goes blank. Very frustrating, to know you will not do good before you even start.
I agree, Courtney, that exams cause extreme stress for some students who are more suited to continuous assessment and it seems unfair that a person is judged on their performance on one day. However, it can be difficult to ensure in continuous assessment that the work is all the student's own and that they haven't had a lot of assistance from others. It is a dilemma and I am not sure what the answer is.

It's the method that needs to change; learning is no longer about remembering content from a book. we need to be more creative.
How would you feel if the internet was blocked for a day to combat cheating by students? Put yourself in the role of an administrator.
I can't imagine how large of an issue this is in schools these days.
The entire education system in the USA needs overhaul. It is a stacked deck.

Not just the USA, all over the world; except Finland is making an attempt to change the system. I left teaching in 1969 and very little has changed except for the Internet, computers and mobile devices.
Totally agree with you. Exams actually prove very little when it comes to ones ability to use or retain information. I remember back when I completed my end of year exams in my final year at High school (Year twelve here in Australia). I was so nervous that I struggled to concentrate. My stomach felt tied up in knots and wouldn't stop rumbling. I thought that everyone else could hear it so I couldn't wait to get out. Thankfully I wrote enough information so that I got a good pass. However, a girl that I knew, who was an A grade student up to this point, walked out and never came back. I found out later she had experienced a nervous breakdown. It's time all results were based on assignments and day to day efforts at school. Jim
I can remember during one of my GCE exams I was so nervous I spent about 10 minutes writing the word -The- Luckily I passed all my subjects.
Just imagine what we could have achieved if the system was different. I always got high marks for assignments and struggling passes in exams. It was simply nerves.
You're right. I have a couple nephews that could not take written exams. Other assessments should be considered.

To be honest, exams are not a true test of your knowledge, they just test your ability to memorize information. I have always struggled with tests, trying to digest as much information as possible, which never really proves that you know the subject well. I think only real-world experience can teach you what you need to succeed.
Then you wonder why did an send all that time in those books
Exactly! In all the years I spent in the IT field, I used more of my troubleshooting skills, than all the info I was forced to absorb in college. It really seems like doing well on tests and in school is just a way to show that you are teachable and can learn.
