Hi:

I've been told that I have too many affiliate links in my posts. In my posts I review and link as many as 10 products. Should I just make each one of those reviews i

How long are your posts? There should be no problem reviewing 10 products, but you need to write enough about each one so that your content isn't affiliate link heavy.

For example, in a 1000 word post, 10 links is too much. In a 3000-4000 word post, 10 links will be viewed by the search engines much more favorably.

You can write a review for each one individually. But you'll run into the same problem if each review is short and doesn't have a lot of quality content.

Just my 2 cents!

I would like to thank everyone who responded to my most recent blog post entitled "Frustrated." You all were so helpful and had such great advice - I really appreciate it!

From what I remember when I looked at your site, it wasn't so much the number of products you had in a post, but that you had three different links to the same product. This is why you have far too many links. You only need one link for each product.

Thanks Diane!

Hey Chris,

There is no "set in cement" number of words to please Google, BUT a post MUST offer the reader with informative information that includes as much detail as possible. Those are the posts Google likes to share with their customers (searchers) so that they won't need to keep searching and searching.

What I found helpful for me was to describe a problem that I experienced and how I solved that problem. This way, I can offer ONE Amazon product on that blog post.

The other tidbit I learned a long time ago was to not offer more than 3 affiliate links per 1000 words, and to make sure the first affiliate link appears below the fold. Hope you find this helpful.

Hi Kyle:

I'm not sure what to do. I've been working diligently on my website since February - I've written 46 posts and around 60,000 words. I follow the SEO practices a

The first thing is you don't quit you keep on going and you keep working on your site. You put too much time and effort into it so don't stop now.

I have not been ranked either don't feel bad. I am working on my sites and still nothing but I am not quitting I just keep on going. I have been indexed but not ranked.

I am going back into Jaaxy and see what I am doing wrong maybe it is the keywords I am having a hard time with that too. But you are just going to do more content and keep working and try Jaaxy instead of the others that you are working with and see if maybe that might help.

And by the way, PM means private message
I hope this helps you out

Mary

Hi Mary:

Thank you for your words of encouragement!

Chris

You are welcome Chris it was my pleasure.
Mary

First of all, you shouldn't stop. If it's not working, change your approach, but don't quit.

Are you in a competitive niche like make money online or health?
The first boost in rankings comes usually after 6-12 months after you registered your domain. Also, it's important that you manually check the competitiveness for each keyword. QSR alone is not sufficient to decide on a keyword in my opinion.

Let's say you're in the health niche and you found a keyword with high search volume and a QSR of 20. Great, but if the first site is dominated by authority sites like health.com, WebMD, Dr Axe etc. and they all have an article that is on topic, you won't ever rank for that. That's an important part that is missing here in the training in my opinion.

My site is 2 1/2 months old, I got 42.000 words and 26 articles. A few keywords in the Top10, more in the Top30 and almost every article got several keywords in the Top100 instantly after posting.

My first few articles didn't rank at all, because I only focused on QSR. Once I started manually checking the competition I found much better topics and keywords that actually rank.

If you want, you can shoot me a PM and I will look over your articles and keywords, but my knowledge is limited since I'm also new to this.

Hi Phil:

These are great comments!

My niche is "dogs" which may be a little too broad, However, I've written too many posts to change it to something more narrow such as "Dog Health" or "Great Danes"

Yes, I've been using QSR to find keyword competition. However, just recently, I've started using services like "Google trends" "Google Keyword Planner" and "Answer the Public" to find keywords.

There are authority sites out there in my Niche like "PetMD" and that is very hard to compete with. I don't think they mentioned this kind of stuff in the training and now I wish they had.

I'm almost wondering if I need to start over with a new niche but that may be psychologically difficult since I've already put so much work into this one.

I'm not sure what a PM is but my website is poocharama.com

Thanks!

Just wanted to say that I don't think "dogs" is necessarily too broad. My website is called "the literate cat," and I have discovered the challenge of finding cat topics I'd like to write about. They are out there. Yep, PetMd is a force to be reckoned with, but I have found they are also a good source about a specific animal subject. When I am writing I research on the 'net, and often find the best information in PetMD. Then I just credit my source.

Hi There:

I will take a look at your site. Thanks for input and ideas!

how well have you done your research into what your audience needs?
are you solving their problems- how much time are you spending in forums finding what they actually want.
is your niche narrow enough for you to become an authority.
are you writing about different topics or concentrating on one.
how well is your site interconnected.
have you been sharing/ promoting via social media.
have you tried answerthepublic to find the important questions in your niche.
I hope you get it sorted - it is worth keeping going but maybe alter tactics to more marketing than writing content, unless your audience needs more answers, then you need to do both.
good luck
phil

Hey there Phil:

My niche is likely not narrow enough - it's dogs in general. I write about dog health, behavior, breeds, accessories and more. I've just started using "Answer the Public" I share on Twitter, Goggle + and Pinterest. I'm not sure what you mean about my site being interconnected but I have many internal links to different pages.

I'm pretty much at a crossroads here and am wondering if I should continue with this site.

Thanks!

definitely continue with the site, but narrow down your focus onto one breed, one health problem, one behaviour problem.
get that nailed and getting visitors to it and then move onto the next one.
yeah it was internal links, glad you have got them in, i take you have external links to authority sites as well.
i don't see fb on your list - there will be a lot of groups on fb about dogs and dog health problems.
but yes continue and focus on one area until you run out of ideas and then expand it to include another topic.
you could have a complete site on one breed.
if you try to talk to everyone - you talk to no one.
so if you have experience with a breed and its problems - start with that and continue down that avenue.
good luck Chris, keep us updated with your progress and how many visitors you get.
phil

Thank you so much for your ideas and encouragement! It's really appreciated!

Hi. First off I will say Google Analytics can miss some of your traffic. 2nd off I will say don't quit. It takes time for some post yo rank. Also it takes time for a content writer / Marketer to find his or her mode.

You are doing the right thing. Ask around. I would be a little concerned if I was writing that much content with images and videos.

I will say. Are you using original pictures and videos? That helps! As organic as possible.

How is your keyword research? Are you trying to knock down walls and rank for tougher keywords. Possible. Or find a crack in the wall. Much easier.

Comments? Are you feeding uour post with comments?

Social sharing?

Limiting affiliate links?

I assume you are following best practices... But we have to ask

Great comments and insights - Thank you!

I'm always trying to find better keywords. Along with Jaaxy, I've started using "Google Keyword Planner" "Google Trends" and "Answer the Public." I'm always seeking comments on my site and have around 140. Of my 46 posts I think 12 of them have affiliate links.

Thanks!

Try including LSI (latent semantic indexing) keywords in your post especially in the meta tags. Another way to check the performance of your post is to go to Bing Webmaster and find the SEO reports tab. I made a post on this one.

Yes! That is another great picture. I was going to recommend that.

Also. I took a look at your Senior site. I would assume that is the site your talking about.

Good job. But I feel that if you have more unique material you will rank higher. Maybe a different theme would bring your content out better. It will pop. Or using more color in your theme.

Maybe interviewing a person who is looking for a job. Showing what people go through in the job market. Contrasting how great it is to be in control with your own financial future. Inviting people to build their own website .

Add a little spice to your meat and potatoes!!! Google will like it.

But also more meat and potatoes. It looked. I say looked like you may need to add more volume to some of the post I checked at least.

But sometimes it just takes time for your post to settle in with Google. Keep pushing!!! You will breakthrough sir! I really believe that it may take two years or so to breakthrough for some of us.

I have 30 websites. Way too many on purpose. But I love it! So I have not had the success that I would have liked. But I do get pretty good traffic on a few of my sites.

One of my sites were up to 15 Organics a day before I neglected it too much life got in the way. I have made a few sales. So I noticed that a post I have not touched in years will start popping with Google.
It might be about two years old and it begins to pop. So it takes time sometimes.

I checked only a few pages because I was in a hurry.

Slow and steady wins the race!!!
